Yeah because Han ran it to death and it was so cold. I know it's really not THAT big of deal, but I can still hear it's cry before it drops dead from exhaustion. Gives me goosebumps.

Oh yes, but the reason I want the OT to change is because Obi-wan knows C3PO and R2-D2 when he's younger (as Ewan Mcgregor) in the prequels, but he doesn't know them when he's older (as Alec Guinness) in the OT.

I think Old Ben is just playing dumb, at that point he is still unsure what he wants to tell Luke.

Consider droids in the GFFA are quite like cars on our Earth : very numerous and widespread.
Obi spent twenty years on Tatooine after the events of RotS. I can believe he doesn't recognize such widespread droids, like I could not recognize the car I drove for the 1st time in my life (a blue Renault 14), twenty years after an exile far from everything... I would certainly recognize the model Renault 14, but probably not the fact that particular car was mine.

Good point, I think the more on that it is a R2 and 3po together that would give Ben a hint of who they are then the models themselves.

Ah, but 3PO has got a silver leg by the time of A New Hope, so he looks totally different. Obi-Wan won't recognise him.

Ah, but for all we know ALL protocol droids of C3PO's type could have that very same personality. It's a feature of that model. There's no real reason to suppose he is 'unique' - he's just the one we see a lot of.

Even if his model was just a 'special' available for one batch of a particular month, there could still be THOUSANDS of droids just like him throughout the galaxy, with exactly the same personality. Or maybe they're given one of five available personalities, and/or you pick the personality you want at the time of purchase. Sure, some will be in a different colour, but some will all look alike and behave alike.

The upshot is, 3PO's personality doesn't have to be anywhere near unique to 3PO. Because he's a robot.

The excessive amount of time with the Ewoks when Luke, Han, Threepio, and R2 are captured. I liked the Ewoks figjting the Empire parts.

I for one would love to read it if you ever did it, or to read some of what you have written. I loved your breakdown of Han shooting first.

I wouldn't normally want to change anything but after watching this today I kind of wish it was how the actual Vader vs Old Ben lightsaber duel looked like... Sorry if this has been posted somewhere already (or if this is not the right place to post it) but I first stumbled upon it today and I think it's fantastic.

When Leia defrosted Han, in Jabba's palace.
Everything about that shows her to be a complete idiot.
The ONLY windchime in the place and she bangs against it.
Han's defrost itself is fairly noisy, but that's not her fault, ...
but then she keeps on using her ridiculously noisy mask to talk.
Saving her big reveal for the very last minute when Jabba shows up!!

The only other "strong" female character handled like this might've been
Sarah Harding from the Jurassic Park sequel Lost World. Its really stupid ...

Hm... I think that is a bit unfair, actually.

Star Wars is full of fumbles and Leia's windchime incidence etc. is far from the most humiliating. Han, the smoothtalking charmer, totally fumbles his lying on the Death Star intercom thingy and is routinely humiliated in ESB; Luke is outsmarted by a willful R2 unit, falls easy pray to both a dianoga & a wampa, is tricked by Yoda, and finally falls through an obvious trap door in RotJ; R2-D2 puts his computer jack into a power outlet; C-3PO is silly and stupid throughout; Chewbacca is a scared coward at times, fumbles his tech at least twice (repairing the MF & C-3PO)... People messing up is an integral trope in Star Wars (just look at the wandering ineptitude that is Qui-Gon Jinn in TPM!), and Leia's fumble fits in right with the others, I would say. No?

Yeah, I agree. I often thought Leia running into the wind chimes might have been a mistake. Perhaps Carrie couldn't see well with the helmet on, but they kept it in, kind of like some improv that, when viewing the dailies, the director thought "hey it works better WITH the mistake."

I honestly do not think it is a mistake, but rather an in-world way of adding some "fairy tale" sounds (if that makes sense?) to the scene.

    There's that thing again.
Star Wars failing at logic and reason.

Of course it does. It's a fairy tale.
Open any fairy tale and check it for people doing reasonable things for logical reasons.

    Won't find it.

Everything is there for, or to set up, a metaphorical and poetic point in an entertaining way, and that's it.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

Forgive me if I'm totally wrong, I'm doing this from memory, but aren't Obi Wan's interactions with C-3P0 pretty limited in the PT? I can't think of a scene where he even directly interacts with him. He and R2 share some scenes but those aren't even very many.

Also, back to the OT, I don't recall C-3P0 introducing himself to Obi Wan. I think Luke mentions him by name in Obi Wan's presence, so there is that. I suspect that Obi Wan would have told Luke about the droids eventually, had he survived, but in the time that Obi Wan was with Luke in ANH he didn't want to go into too much detail about the past other than the essentials to get Luke to go with him.

I know that the prequels weren't even a thing when ANH came out, AND that Vader and Anakin Skywalker weren't the same person at that point, but I believe that Alec Guinness' performance of Obi Wan in ANH still implied that there was more to the story than he was letting on. I think that was intentional. Maybe it was a "we'll get to that in the sequel, if we get one" thing on George's part.

I rewatched ESB and ROTJ recently (thank you Disney+). ESB I wouldn't change, its a seemless masterpiece. ROTJ on the other hand I would have limited some of Jabba Palace scenes; for instance the Special Edition Band, in the Regular Edition the scenes with Droid Manager who assigns duties to Threepio as translator and R2 as beverage server on The Barge.

I have mp4 copies of my old laser disk editions that have the more original form of the film and I will hold them dear with a death grip.
I prefer watching these to newer versions.
Not only are things left as they were, the SFX and sound is the original so I get to avoid odd add ins, and I get to see the ground breaking effects works which won awards, instead of the retouched CGI which absolutely blanket washes the original craftsmanship.

Make them just a BIT longer to showcase more jedi training.
