WHAT ONE ELEMENT WOULD YOU CHANGE OF THE ORIGINALS?

Here's a thought: you and some of your friends are kidnapped. A few hours later, 3 random strangers come to rescue you only. Would you ever ask the question: "what about MY friends? can we rescue MY friends too? I won't go anywhere without my friends. Can we at least try to find them?"
Or "OK, I will go, but we will find a way to rescue them later, and not blowing them up!"
Because that's what happened. Leia was captured along with some of her crew (Vader says: I want them alive!). Leia is later rescued by 3 strangers and never bothered to ask for her original crew. They're left behind in the Death Star and as a result, they die in the final explosion.
So much for the Princess of the people, I guess.

 

I'd change Piett's line "if the Millennium Falcon went into lightspeed, it'd be on the other side of the galaxy by now" into "if the Millennium Falcon jumped into hyperspace, it'd have reached the galaxy's inner rim by now".

 

Ep IV and V: Absolutely nothing. Those were written with art and storytelling as primary regard. The "flaws" also bear some of their historical value.

Ep VI and the entire PT: Many-many things, because those were written with merchandising and comercial profit as primary regard.

Good point. I had assumed all of them were taken to the DS.

 

Logically, you'd think he'd want to interrogate all of them though. But, the guy hasn't proven to be very good at his job, so . . .

2. This is war. Sometimes, this happens. You have to prioritize objectives. Princess >>>>>> next closest person

3. She saw Alderaan blow up, she knows that the Rebellion probably hasn't had time to organize a massive prison break yet, or they just know she may be lost...after all, this is a war.

 

Not always. Rescuing a princess is time sensitive and vastly more important. Especially when time is of the essence.

 

Neither Han or Luke have any knowledge of the situation nor military training in 'time of war'. Also, "Luke, we're gonna have company!" (Ugh, Harrison Ford is so amazing in that scene!!!!)

 

In Legends Han was a member of Corellia Security "CorSec" b4 he was a Smuggler so he may have "military training"

 

We'll have to wait 24 months for the canon-Han...Han-Canon.....or something.

 

The celebration at the end with the ewoks is a bit silly...but especially I've always been bugged by the last shot which always managed to sort of take me out of the movie as I'm reminded it is quite apparently staged...
They look as if they have lined up for a production photo. It's silly.
There are many things of the end of the movie which I like (like the solemnity of Vader's funeral. The fact that Luke is a bit aside from everybody else and smiles at the Force ghosts are great, but the celebration and the above staged shot ruin it a bit...)


Not to mention that forcefully adding in the completely different in tone PT planets in the specialised editions made it much much worse as it looks and feels completely patched up...
