I know it is a controversial take but still

I would have never made prequels as there is ZERO suspense. You already know obi wan , survives anakin becomes vader etc, and there was way way way too much politics , some mystery in how vader became vader was a good thing,

According to this, we should never had movies such Titanic, Rogue One, Solo...
And please never watch any episode of Inspector Columbo. The crime and the murderer are commonly known from the very first seconds... there is ZERO suspense as you say

with titanic, you know ship sinks, no doubt , but you do not know if jack survives, as to solo, idnt see it as I knew slo would survive as would chewie, will not se any die hard prequels for same reason

yeah i know one could argue that all die hards McClane will survive but you never know, they may kill him off,

call me goofy, if II know ho survives , it takes away from the suspense, had same issue with gotham, you knoew bruce, gordon, alfred, cat woman, penguin, riddler all survive

Sometimes, the suspense does not lie in the goal, but rather in the journey to that goal.

i guess, but the movies insist on putting them in what they think should be harrowing & hopeless situations more than just exposition,

The prequels can still be made. Just swap some of the politics out for suspense, character and action.
I've been pretty certain that John McClane was going to live in all the Die Hard sequels too. But it's still a valid point about prequels. It could have been better if the prequels were actually focused on something we didn't know the outcome of yet. With the fall of the Republic and Anakin's turn to the dark side a backdrop to it. But a significant one of course. I know it sounds crazy but Anakin's seduction by the Emperor could all have happened off screen.

i always thought they may kill mcclane off if willis didnt want a return, but yeas was reasonably sure he would be ok, but with prequels in Star wars you KNOW. love the points you make about the fall etc, well done

I feel like there is plenty of suspense especially in ROTS. Sure, we know which characters survive and whatnot, but its all about our perspective as an audience. You should watch it with the viewpoint of, what is going to happen next. Instead of, I already know whats gonna happen next. The suspense with Anakin turning to the dark side over many scenes is through the roof but i can see why you think the way you do. :)

probably a bteer way, but I am a practical minded guy, i do not really care why anakin became vader (I probably should but truly do not)

The only part of ROTS where you can actually do that is the part in between when Anakin learns that Palpatine is a Sith and when Anakin comes to his aid. And there's a disconnected staring contest between Anakin and Padme in between which produces a little bit of suspense/tension, but, they never established what turning to the dark side actually entails and how it plays out. So there's nothing to anticipate. The tension comes mainly from wondering why characters doing what they are doing and not doing what they reasonably should be doing.

I guess your right. But i can feel some suspense as anakin is turning to the dark side. I knew it was going to hapen but seeing the scenes where Anakin becomes darth vader is suspenseful to me. But we can agree to disagree:)
