You've nailed it! Perfect, did not even think of this.....was this part of the originally-shot movie? Seem to remember a trailer scene of Jyn running across the beach with a case of some sort. I retract my previous idea and want to go with this....superb!

By the way I am a huge war movie watcher....check out the below, from the movie Glory, for how to tie music, courage, honor, action, into what becomes, in my opinion (after watching hundreds of war movies), the finest single battle sequence ever filmed! From the 1:22 point, where Col Shaw goes down, listen to the music from then on (Harlem boys choir), just superb

Or simply don't show the torture scene at all. Just accentuate Bodhi's physical and especially mental damage in the scene when we see him in a cell and make his recovery just a bit longer. Leaving certain aspects of the film to the viewers' imagination can prove benefitial to the film, especially when the on-screen creature is a disappointment.

In the novelization he's out of it longer. I agree you don't have to show but at least imply. Gives more reason why he's apart from the main rebellion

Galen's death, I would have allowed him to escape to confront Krennic at the top of the tower on Scariff.

If Galen lives then they wouldn't have needed to go to Scariff so the whole end of the film would have been a meatting between him & the rebel alliance leading to a earlier attack on the DS & so no ANH.
So I am quote glade he died there as it gave us a great end to R1 & the rest of the series.

From what I've heard, an earlier cut of the film did indeed have the transmission tower across the beach from the Citadel, thus why there is footage of Jyn and Cassian fighting on the beach. I believe it was something cut for time, which is a shame. I love the film, but I'd have preferred to cut some of the bloat from earlier in the film than a scene as cool as that potential ending.

The Avenger pursuit I would like to have seen Vader arrive on the bridge seeing the Tantive IV hit lightspeed before he gives the order to pursue,

I actually felt sure they'd show this. It surprised me when things went differently.

Interestingly, I've actually come around to the delivery of the line since I originally posted that. It still isn't my favorite, but I don't think it needs changing anymore. Re-reading the Vader comic with his Padme/"I'm pregnant" flashback after learning about Luke, I instantly imagined his voice sounding like that particular line, and things "clicked."

Thanks for your support, maybe they use that scene for another spin-off.

Having just rewatched (and enjoyed) RO, there are still a few things that still don't sit quite right with me (and some others apparently).
    • Opening Crawl. I'm still feeling the lack of an opening crawl and think one would have added to the feel and the story.
    • Title theme. I found most of the incidental music amazing but the main title theme motif still jars with me. Although it sounds like a nod to some possible JW inspirations...

...IMO the melody plays all around some great opportunities for a memorable variation of the classic SW theme.
    • Deaths. Most were great and I thought the bittter-sweet ending worked well but what was up with these supposed bad-ass revolutionaries and their weak and unecessary self-sacrifices? Did Lyra and Saw lose sight of the end-game and shared strategy completely? Why would any mother ever risk orphaning her daughter let alone panic and pick such a poor opportunity to fight as Lyra Erso did? And Saw, surely he could have picked a more honorable and effective death if he wanted out - one that would make his enemies pay. I don't buy these character choices at all.
    • Cantina patrons. No need to shrink the Universe just for a moment of fan service. I hope this sort of thing doesn't continue with future stories. (I didn't feel the droid's the first watch but didn't mind the second.)
[Edit] That's all I got of the top of my head anyway. I got over my initial CGI hangups like some fans suggested I might. Credit to TPTB for a great film and restricing this notorious nit-picker to just a handful of personal gripes!

I think Lyra was just tired of running. She wasn't going to let Krennic take Galen. Sometimes emotions usurp logic.

Saw didn't pick his death. That's part of the tragedy. A great fighter and leader wiped out like nothing. He was never going to make it out of the city. He cant move fast enough.

The space octopus was such a bizarre choice, it really threw me off that whole scene.

Only two scenes. First I would have an opening crawl! Second, I would have a longer scene at Vader's castle. Possibly showing Vader having his mechanical limbs attached to his body.(vader)

I didn't like Jyn and Cassains death, it was really cheesy, it also didn't make much sense while watching the film, they had the time to get down from that massive tower and stroll down the beach for a romantic goodbye death scene, surely they would be running round trying to find a ship? (Apparently they explain this in the novel but in the film it just doesn't add up)

Their was a rumour that one of the ideas was to have Vader go down Scarif and kill our Hereos, and while the Vader scene we got was awesome, I would have much preferred this Vader rocking up and reeking havoc on the beach would have been incredible.

My biggest complaint was Bor Gullet.

    1. The CGI tentacles looked so bad
    2. did it work? Did Saw find he was telling the truth? if so, why was he is a cell?
    3. his brain was scrambled one second, and fine the next....

yeah i agree with this, the Saw story arc was a bit weird in general, a lot of build up a lot of build up and plot points then the guy just decides its his turn to die..... im guessing originally it made more sense but with all the re-writes/re-shoots things got cut, moved around and it made that bit of the film all seem a bit out of place and jarring.

    1. Krennic and Jynn's "who are you?" and "You will die...with the Rebellion moment".
    2. Jyn and Cassian's elevator sequence.
    3. Everything Chirrut - I would throw him completely out of the movie along with Baze. No function to the general story whatsoever.

    :)

It has become a legendary scene though, so did the character of Saw, which means that it basically worked.
