I'm all for that but they would have to tread carefully since Obi and young Luke has made an appearance in Rebels. They would have to end the movie before he kills Maul on Tatooine unless they do something after that event. Any mention of Maul would be confusing to the average movie goer.

Kenobi (now it's the time, before Ewan gets too old) and the Old Republic.

But yeah, Kenobi first, so we could end the first spin-off trilogy (all of them between Episodes 3 and 4) and then, an Old Republic trilogy.

    Make it happen!

If we get an Obi-Wan movie then personally I feel he would need to leave Tatooine. It could be early in his exile when he is still struggling with the idea of going into hiding. I can't imagine what it would be like to fight and protect people for over two decades, to be raised in an order that valued protecting innocents, to then suddenly have to stand by and watch a tyrannical government destroy everything you fought so hard to protect. You'd have to think he had to go on both a physical and spiritual journey to come to place where he could accept that.

Obi-Wan makes the most sense, but I'd love to see a KOTOR film. They've laid the ground work already for Revan, in my estimation.

I think KOTOR will come after this trilogy wraps up but before episode 10 so they can play off something from the KOTOR film as a "twist" in it

That's similar to what me and my brother discussed a few weeks ago during our usual Star Wars talk during our smoke sesh. We were talking about how this trilogy (although we've only gotten one of them so far) , along with the two animated shows, have kind of hinted in the direction of Revan. My main thing is if they do as you said, which I hope they do...where do they go with episodes 10-12? A continuation of the new characters stories or do they go into the future ala Cade Skywalker???

I'm kinda bummed Maul and Obi Wan already had their rematch in Rebels.

I'll give you the whole pitch I had, back before Rogue One was released. It's kinda long, and I've adjusted it over time, but here it is if anyone's interested:

At the end of Rogue One, we see Tantive IV being pursued by Vader's Star Destroyer above Tatooine. We see Leia, from a distance, insert the plans into R2. We hear her say "Help Me Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."

Screen fades to black. The words (in a very Marvel/Disney fashion) 'Obi Wan will return in 2020' appear on the screen. Credits roll.

So then, in 2020, our third stand alone fan is Obi Wan. Basically, we see him on Tatooine, working with Jawas and fighting sandpeople. It's almost like the beginning of Logan (a reference I wouldn't have made in 2016, but stick with me) in that Obi Wan is clearly not living up to his potential, and is apparently going a bit insane. It's sad, really.

(Now, the next part is heavily dependent on what happens in the next season of Rebels, and makes some assumptions, some that can no longer technically even be made):

Ahsoka and the Ghost crew (or what remains of them after S4 manage to track Obi Wan down (perhaps this can be done still through the holocron). For casual moviegoers, we'll get a brief intro to the Ghost crew and Ahsoka, but honestly they're supporting characters- they'll make sense in the story well enough. Anyway, Ahsoka will tell Obi Wan that they want to recruit him for the Rebellion, but Obi Wan will refuse. After some debate, Ahsoka finally relents and prepares to leave without him, and Obi Wan asks that they don't reveal his presence on the planet to the greater Rebel Alliance. Then, Ezra notices some markings Obi Wan has made in his hut- markings that look like a horned figure wielding a dual bladed lightsaber. Ezra catches on and tells Obi Wan that they're going after Maul. Obi Wan flashes back to Qui Gon's death and Satine's murder (these again will probably have to have brief explanations for the audience). Obi Wan joins them, clearly driven by anger.

Near the end of the film, the Ghost tracks down Maul to his home planet of Dathomir, in the ruins of the nightsisters lair. Here, we get a pretty personal view of Maul. He's broken, and clearly still grieving for his family. Then, when he sees Maul, he is filled with rage. Here, I'd like a fight similar to the Rebels one- a huge buildup (maybe even longer and more intense, if possible) then Obi Wan incapacitates Maul- but this time, as he rages his saber in rage to kill Maul (again flashing back to Maul's crimes) Ahsoka stops him, saying that Maul deserves mercy and could be an asset against the Empire.

Meanwhile, the Ghost and its crew (including Kanan and Ezra, who stayed back due to Maul's possible influence over Ezra) notice a large Star Destroyer enter orbit above the planet. They call out a distress call and Ahsoka leaves Obi Wan to watch Maul so that she can join the Ghost.

The Ghost flies around the planet taking fighting landing TIEs and shooting down landing Lamda shuttles, as Ahsoka chases on foot, dodging stormtroopers who have landed on the surface. After a desperate fight, some of Phoenix squadron finally arrives, helping the Ghost in its fight.

On the ground, Ahsoka gets surrounded. Literally encircled by stormtroopers, we hear "Leave her to me. She will not escape me this time." Vader lands in the circle, emerging from a Lamda shuttle. The two duel. Seeing Vader on the ground, a Y-Wing pilot decided to attempt a bombing run, but Vader pulls the ship out of the sky before it can drop its payload. Given this distraction, Ahsoka is able to slip into a nearby village, where she is eventually picked up by the Ghost, who escapes to orbit with the rest of Phoenix squadron, encountering the Star Destroyer.

During this fight Obi Wan and Maul talk. It's actually a pretty similar talk to Maul's final words in Rebels. Their unfinished business concluded, Maul laments that they had to fight each other when their true enemy is the Empire, and Obi Wan makes some statement about them being relics of old wars, while a new hope is soon to rise. "Ezra?" Maul asks, slightly surprised.

"No" Obi Wan responds. "There is another."

Maul smiles, clearly pleased. "Then I suppose you're to train this new Jedi?"

    Obi Wan nods.

Maul, concerned, gestures to the entrance of the cave. "You must leave then. You have won, old friend- at least, in our old war- but we are more than just relics. We have work still to do now, together." Maul tells Obi Wan where his ship is, instructing him to escape. Obi Wan reluctantly agrees.

Kenobi escapes the cave and flies away in Maul's ship, back to Tatooine.

As the Empire continues landing on the planet, Vader pauses outside the Nightsister's cave... almost as if he senses a presence... but surely that's not right.

Inside, he encounters an old Zabrak force user. Vader ignites his lightsaber, and the Zabrak does the same. The Zabrak fights ferociously despite his obvious wounds, but he is quickly defeated, brutally struck down by Vader. As he dies, Vader says "You are hopeless outmatched, old fool."

"You know nothing about hope" the Zabrak says, laughing to his last breath.

Back in orbit, Phoenix Squadron manages to take down the Star Destroyer, then retreats to hyprespace. Mon Mothma debriefs them:
"Why were you as far out as Dathomir? I assume your search for the jedi was unsuccessful?" she asks.

"I'm afraid so" Hera reports. "The lead we followed didn't lead anywhere."

Back on Tatooine, Obi Wan watches the silhouette of a young Skywalker (much like in Rebels). In the distance, we see a squadron of TIE fighters fly across the twin suns, signifying the Empire's increasing presence in the outer rims.

Another alternative would be to have Ahsoka die in the fight with Vader. Either way, really. Though, I don't know if Disney would go for that.

But anyway... since that clearly can't happen anymore, I think a Lost Stars movie might be really cool.

    ...yeah, Lost Stars...
    I'm with that idea.

I went with Kenobi. Nothing specific.
    And Other, again, nothing specific.

Just More Star Wars. It IS a big enough Galaxy. How big is a Galaxy ?
    Room for LOTS.

I voted for a Vader movie. I would love to see him and his hardships to overcome the suit and injuries, and become powerful and so damn feared. It would be nice if we got to see why people feared him so much and see him fight at his prime against some of the Jedi that survived order 66. I know many think it's best to just see him briefly in movies with little to few lines spoken, I'm the opposite and want to know just what was he thinking
and how did he really tick during his beginning to the end.
With that said an Obi Wan movie would be and should really be the next film. I liked the idea in this thread about a flash back movie to where we could get any time line and to tie it all up with the end being guarding Luke and some kind of story during these times till his death. They could then show how he became a force ghost and the beginning would allow for more of our favorite on screen Jedi and so on to show up. Heck for me they could show how he learns how Vader lived. ;)

i feel like i would be the first person to scream "PT!" and run wildly for the hills.
but i think Holdo looks like a nice compromise. she has a very OT costume (simplicity in the fabric and the draping from what we can see), and some crazytown hair that definitely leans PT, but can probably work in this new setting.

Canto Bight smacks a little more, but again, the subdued palette helps it look more naturalistic.
feel like i'd have to see it in motion to determine whether it looks like it's too much/overdone.

I hate to repeat the many answers before me, but the third film should be Kenobi. Disney needs to take advantage of the situation while Ewan McGregor is the perfect age for an early OT Obi-Wan. I'm also biased because Ewan McGregor is my favorite actor and an incredible human being.
If I have to go another route, I also think it's time to work on another era and create an Old Republic film, cinematize Revan and Malak. Finally, I'd like to see a prequel to The Phantom Menace akin to the Stark Hyperspace War with Ranulph Tarkin and the Jedi order because it's a very interesting tale.

And financially speaking, the most important aspect of the SW universe to Disney, Obi-Wan and The Old Republic would be financial powerhouses. They would bring out every SW fan in ours and neighboring galaxies.

I'd love to see something really far back into the past like a young Yoda or Kotor. It feels like the anthology movies should stand on their own and explore Star Wars time periods that we have not seen in cinemas before

I think something we need to consider is that the OT and so far the ST have all been in really just a few types of locations. Rogue One mostly, too:

Backwater areas and Smuggler Dens (Jakku, Tatooine, the Falcon, Jedha, Takodana, etc.)
Military Installations (Death Star, Hoth, Endor, Eadu, Scarif, Starkiller Base, etc)

I think that the prequels certainly have their own feel to them, but they're also where we simply saw the most variety in civilian life of populated areas. We saw some of this in Rogue One that came across a little more "prequel-y" (Rings of Kafrene, Coruscant memories) but for the most part the OT and ST have a really grimy feel to them because... well, they take place in grimy areas.

Remember Hosnian Prime in The Force Awakens?

We saw very little of it, but it definitely had a "prequel" feel to it as well.

Luckily, it wasn't overly distracting. It actually seemed to mesh with the movie well,at least in my opinion. I think that as long as we don't have terrible scripts and off-putting characters, what we think of as "prequel" might actually be a great addition to the ST. It really opens up the galaxy more, and given how we already have the prequels anyway, we can't really ignore how big and diverse the galaxy really is now.
