Since the focus on the documentary was special effects, I can understand why Marcia's role wasn't highlighted.

George Lucas deserved the fame he received. But that said, neither John Dykstra, special effects, Marcia Lucas as an editor, or Gary Kurtz as a producer got anywhere near the credit they deserved for the film's monumental success.

I started The Sandman and so far so good. The cinematography is beautiful, Tom Sturridge is Morpheus, I love the tone of the show. We'll see how it holds.

I'm currently 7 (of 10) episodes into The Sandman, and -- granted it's been 20-25 years since I read the comics -- this show is VERY faithful to the story (as I remember it). With great portrayals to boot! I'm particularly impressed with John (Johanna in this version) Constantine, which is SPOT ON! Very cool. (Although, I'm surprised they do/hint at the terrible Newcastle thing with Constantine... wasn't that a Hellblazer story rather than a Sandman one?).

I am loving this show! :)

PS: Can't wait for them to do Season of Mist, hopefully during season 2.

as a comic book connoisseur, i must find time to watch this series... thanks for your input... and reminder, so many shows to watch, GOD I never thought it would get this saturated, this comicbook guy is overwhelmed... seating in front of grandma's tv watching BATMAN so many years ago, I would never imagine comicbooks would ever get this BIG.... MY FRIENDS SAY NERDS ARE COOL NOW... I GUESS I'M COOL NOW

When I have the time, making my way through Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
It's wonderful to have the original Star Trek vibe finally back.

Also been slowly making my way through watching all of the original Knight Riders just for kicks.
They're so corny. I forgot how much they were basically Highway to Heaven crashed into Dukes of Hazard with a twist of lime that is Charlie's Angels.

I also get a kick out of the fact that for a show so defined by its techno pop theme song, everytime Michael is in his car they have him listening to early 80's urban cowboy fad country.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

So, I've watched it through and, while the first half was suprieor to the second, I really, really loved The Sandman. Also... for obvious reasons (to those who've seen s1), I'm looking forward to season 2 :D

I just finished this two part mini-series from about 10 years ago about the Great Train Robbery of 1963, I'm sure it took some artistic license but it was entertaining. The first episode focuses on the robbers and the second episode is all about the police who track them down.

My gf and I have been binging GoT again (for the umpteenth time), and by the Whills this show is soooo very good. The writing for the first three seasons is phenomenal, as is the acting and direction, and GoT easily ranks among the best drama on television. Outstanding TV, this! :D

I was tempted to start a thread on The Sandman until I saw that it was already being discussed here. WHAT AN AMAZING SHOW!!!

I had read the comics in the 1990s and had always hoped to someday see it brought to life on film. But that said, you always have a bit of trepidation when it comes to seeing a favorite story brought to a new medium. My initial enthusiasm was shook a bit when I saw members of the cast and who they were playing. But I took a deep breath and held off on any judgements until Season One came out, I was hopeful it would be true to the comics because Neil Gaiman, himself, was one of the producers.

I shouldn't have worried. The casting was one of the strengths of the show. First off, Tom Sturridge as Dream was PERFECTION. It's hard for me to imagine anyone better than Sturridge in this iconic role. I will admit that I was skeptical of the gender-swapping which took place in the casting of Dream's Librarian, Lucienne. But the actress perfectly captured the character's essence. I loved her! What an amazing performance. Recently when I looked back through the graphic novels, I had her voice in my head when I saw Lucienne. And, of course, there's Death. I was more than a little surprised when I learned prior to the show's NETFLIX premeire that she wasn't going to be the cute White goth girl we got in the comics. But Kirby Howell-Baptiste's performance blew me away. Once again, she was absolutely perfect in the role.

The entire cast was wonderful. As @Angelman pointed out, Jenna Coleman was great as Joanna. I also was impressed with David Thewlis (as John Dee), Boyd Holbrook (as The Corinthian) and Mason Alexander Park (as Desire.) My only 'quibble' was with Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar. While she was fine, a young David Bowie would have been the perfect choice.

Anyhoo, this series was one of the best shows I've seen in a long, long time. What's great about it is that it's one of those shows that 'sticks with you' and keeps you thinking about it long after the episodes are over.

That's a bit unfair, though, as I am sure we can all agree that Bowie would be better than anyone in anything, really... ;)

To quote Ash in Alien: "A perfect organism." :p

My dream would be that we eventually see the entire book series in six or seven seasons. But given the expense of producing Season One (I heard it was $15 million per episode), we still haven't heard from Netflix if they'll greenlight a second season despite the fact the show is currently the Number One streaming series in the world.

I love this show. A show about forgiveness and redemption, about learning from failure,...
And no Star Wars redemption yet. All redeemed characters are still alive.

Such a good time for TV right now...

We've got Marvel (She-Hulk), Game of Thrones (HoTD), LOTR (Rings of Power)... and all are pretty good! Not to mention Andor starting up soon, and The Handmaid's Tale streaming today.

Then we just finished the new A League of their Own series, and just started Ted Lasso.

For me, too many shows to keep up with the streaming wars era... I haven't even watched the Handmaiden's series that I heard so much about. Still, I'm enjoying House of Dragons more than Ring of Power; however, both are rather good... gotta find time to finish stranger things... haha.

The last season of Game of Thrones left a sour taste in my mouth so I haven't watched any of HOD but I am really enjoying LOTR: The Rings of Power so if its anywhere as good as that, I might have to give it a shot.

For me, HoD is more my thing... I agree, the last season of GoT felt like TROS, BUT I gave it a chance and was not disappointed. It's a slow burn, like reading a book, so it takes a while before anything really happens, but worth the wait.
