Did you guys know the extent to which the creators of Star Wars were apparently influenced by French comics of the 70s and 80s? Check out this new video on YouTube:

Some of the similarities are quite astounding. When looking at these images it's hard to believe that Lucas and other Star Wars creators like Joe Johnston weren't influenced by these European comics.

    What do you think?

Wow! Thats amazing. I had thought there were a lot of parallels between 70's Japanese anime and Star Wars, especially Space Battleship Yamato and the Comet Empire but these are just undeniable. Thanks for posting.

Star Wars is actually a gigantic Arzach from the golden age of Sci-Fi, the 60's. Do you know:

    - LightSabres appear first in Isaac Asimov "Lucky Starr" novels
    - The "Millenium Falcon" and plenty of visual references appear in Mezieres "Valerian and Laureline" (the video above but there's more, way lot more)
    - The plot main ideas are copykat of Frank Herbert "Dune" (the greates Sci-Fi book ever written)

Just consider "Dune" main Ideas when comparing to StarWars:

    - The hero is Paul, a young guy discovering is psichic powers, that might be the new messiah (Luke)
    - Paul has a sister, Alia of the Knife, who is powerfull and will rule the galaxy (Leia)
    - The action takes place in Arrakis, a desert planet with two moons (Tattoine)
    - There's a religious cult with psichic powers, the Bene Geneserit, waiting for the choosen one (Jedi)
    - The Emperor rule the galaxy with the strenght of his satanic legions, the Sardaucar (Stormtroops)
    - Paul is trained in the arts of combat by Gurney, a veteran master, and Lady Jessica, a witch (Obi-Wan & Yoda)
    - Paul's best friend is a fearless adventurer, Duncan Idaho (Han Solo)
    - The bad guy, Feyd Harkonnen, is a choosen one who terrorises everyone (Darth Vader)

    and we could go on....................
