What stories should be turned into anthology films?

Just to name a few possibilities

 

If I stop and really think about it, I can probably think of 50 possible anthology stories. Here are a few that I can name off the top of my head that seem most interesting:

1) Old Republic showcasing the struggles between Jedi and Sith, both at their heights.

2) Old Republic showing how the jedi first developed lightsaber weapons.

3) Old Republic showing origins of both Jedi and Sith orders.

4) Obi Wan Kenobi movie, defeating Maul and trying to protect Luke S.

5) Ahsoka movie

6) Boba Fett movie

7) Lost Stars-type of film about regular people being hired by the empire and realizing too late that it's evil.

8) bounty hunter movie

9) Star Wars Underworld, the dark underbelly of Coruscant.

10) Knights of Ren movie

11) Old Republic romance based on one of the operas referenced in Aftermath: Life Debt

12) film about a former Twi'lek club dancer who becomes unintentionally involved in a daring mission, and ends up saving everyone. (My personal favorite idea)

 

I know I'm probably going to get flack for this but I'm not really interested in seeing an Obi-wan movie, or a Fett movie, or Plagues, or whoever. Its for the simple reason that I feel like all of these characters stories have been told to us already. What's wrong with just leaving these characters be, with there air a mystery still left to them. Do we really need every minutia of there lives laid bare for us? Personally I say no, b/c there have been so many stories about them over the years, cannon or otherwise, that leave enough to our imaginations that these stories don't need to be told. It only leads to more fan bickering b/c "they" didn't adapt the backstory "properly" or "it was better in the old EU before they changed it". I know I have been guilty of that line of thinking and it doesn't really unite the fan base.

So my reasoning is once episode IX is done, start with a clean fresh slate. I want to see the "Present" Star Wars universe. Instead of "Long, Long Ago" I want to see "Somewhere in a Galaxy Far, Far, Away". Show us the galaxy as it exists today, so far removed from the event of the past that they have no baring on the story being told. Disney has the entire SW universe to play in, let them give us something we haven't seen before. Don't give us safe, color by numbers, boardroom meeting, audience tested, make sure the investors turn a quick buck movies. Give us something so new that we can rediscover the galaxy again, with no preconceived notions of what we'll find there.

 

Yeaaaah hope they canonise KOTOR!!

My guess is that, this would be too close to ANH timeframe so if done, it would be seen on Rebels.

I'd love them to do Lost Stars... they might even use props or just reference the main characters of the saga and such.

Sounds a lot like Isval's backstory from "Lords of the Sith"

Darth Maul's origin story would be cool or maybe the story between Darth Sidious and Darth Plaguis

it wasnt axed but sent into "development hell" so to speak .

 

I would love to see a Palpatine movie much in the style of Godfather Part 2.

It would focus on two time periods where you have the young Palpatine and his downfall done in the style of Walter Whites transition into Heisenberg in Breaking Bad. Then you'd obviously have the Darth Palegious climax.

Then this would interplay with an older Palpatine a year or so after Episode III establishing Empire and dealing with all those out to assassinate him and removing those in is way. Also you'd see him watching and helping Vader develop as he learns to master his Sith powers.

 

The convenient thing about a Palpatine movie/show is that the skeleton draft has been written already, intended to be used in George Lucas' "Underworld." This shows Palpatine's rise into politics and how his life was ruined by a woman (a former lover, I think it was) which contributed to his mean-spirit. It was written by George and I would love to see any form of this story brought to life, even as a Netflix original show.

 

I like the idea of having films with different types of genres. I wouldn't mind an almost horror movie at some point- maybe like Alien, but with IG-88 trying to hunt down humans on a derelict space craft.

After seeing how well Rogue One turned out, I'd really like to see them take a stab at a reworked Shadows of the Empire, as a "Star Wars Story" for the new canon. It leads right into Jedi similarly to the way RO leads into ANH.
Maybe just tweak the contrivance of "All these new major characters die by the end of the story." and differentiate Dash a bit more from Han or rework it so that Lando steps into the Dash role.
That worked for Rogue One, since it was a suicide mission. It always felt off in Shadows that Xizor and Dash both died.

 

Episodes 1,2 and 3 should be retitled as Anthology films, films which are only backstory to the main events ot the OT, like Rogue One was.
Episode 7 should be demoted to a JJ Abrams fan film because its a parody of ANH.

 

I am on the boat that would love a live action tv show, hopefully it will happen.

 

How about a new saga about my favorite characters in Star Wars, the Jawas!

Where did they come from?

How did they obtain their sand crawlers?

What makes there eyes glow? ( to much spice probably)

So much potential!!

 

Here are some anthology films I'd like to see:

1.) Obi-Wan Kenobi - Come on, this is #1 on almost everybody's list.
2.) Qui-Gon Jinn - He's one of my favorite characters in Star Wars and I think it'd be interesting to explore his history.
3.) Shmi Skywalker - This character, Anakin's mother, is very underrated and I think she deserves her own anthology film.
4.) Lor San Tekka - If he isn't just the alias for Korkie Kryze-Kenobi like I and StarWarsFollower believe, I want to know much more about this man and where he comes from.
5.) Darth Sidious & Plagueis - I think it'd be interesting to explore these two and their history together.
6.) Padme Amidala - I'd personally like to see a film about her family and her career as Queen of Naboo.
7.) Mace Windu - I must say, I'm actually pretty curious about the history of Mr. Purple Lightsaber.
8.) Grand Admiral Thrawn - I know there's already a book coming out about Thrawn and his new adventures in the Star Wars canon, but come on, who wouldn't love to see him in live-action form?
