I've been debating getting a PS4 and getting back into gaming but, wanted to see what system is the choice out there, so we can all have a gaming get together. PS4 is my top choice because, I want to go back to my roots as a gamer. One of my first ever games was The Phantom Menace on PS1. Really good game in my opinion. Also I like a lot of the games I've seen that are exclusive to PS4 and think that Shenmue 3, if ever released will be on PS4.

Anyway, let me know. Would be great to get some feedback and know my fellow Imperials in our quest to destroy the Rebel scum on Battlefront 3. :)

If you've never heard of Shenmue. I highly recommend it. Here's the Dreamcast trailer for the original.

PC for me. Basically because I have mine set up for decent gaming and shouldn't need to invest anything more other than actually purchasing the game when it's released. That and I never could really get into the third-person games, so ones like Battlefront, Empire at War, and any others like that are more my type... which are best played with mouse and keyboard in my opinion.

My first Star Wars game probably was Dark Forces port back on the original Playstation (back when we had to rent the whole system for a few days)... but I still prefer the way PC plays.

Since EA is in current "screw you Nintendo mode" I'll be picking up all upcoming Star Wars games on the PC.

I honestly haven't been impressed enough by any of the releases on XBox One or PS4 to get a clear idea of which system I'll ultimately upgrade to (if I buy either of them at all.) I've been an XBox man for many years, and will probably gravitate toward the XBox One, but again at this point there aren't any games out for either system that are really getting me champing at the bit to pull the trigger on either system.

I may just end up sticking with my XBox 360 for awhile yet, and then rebuilding my desktop PC as a gaming system. I dunno. (Then, of course, there are the much-vaunted PC consoles that companies like Steam and Alienware are putting out, but I'm going to seriously wait and see on those.)

PC gaming is where it's at. I don't own any consoles besides an original Xbox.

The problem with PC gaming is a.) I absolutely hate mouse-and-keyboard controls, and b.) I'd much rather play on my TV whilst all comfy on my couch rather than all hunched over my computer desk.

The USB Xbox controllers work pretty well, and there are ways to integrate the PC with the TV, so I may eventually set something up like that. But basically, I'd want to treat my PC like a console in that case.

I use the USB Xbox controller and I connect my computer to the HDMI on my TV.

I'd like to think I've played on most consoles now: NES, Master System, SNES, Megadrive, Gameboys (of all varieties), PS1-3, etc. But I co-bought an XBox with a friend in 2001 and immediately traded in the monstrously HUGE controllers (seriously, even the Gorog from TFU would have had trouble playing on that thing) for the smaller ones, and I just could not get to grips with the bloody thing, its buttons all misaligned and the asymmetrical layout of the two joysticks. So I stopped playing on the XBox and went down the PlayStation route instead.

That being said, I still don't like playing FPS games on control pads, and would take a mouse and keyboard any day - for me, they offer much more precision of movement for aiming, and whilst you don't get the ability to move with an analogue-determined speed (depending on how far you push a joystick), I'm OK with holding a button to walk or crouch. So now all I have to do is save up at least £500 for a decent-enough PC before all the new canon games come out, and I'll be sorted. :p

I'll play them on my Magnavox Odyssey 2 as God intended yo! Naw, really. I'm a guy who likes to stay about one generation behind on video game systems, so if it ain't gon' be made for PS3 then I'll catch it the next year.

My son has a PS4 and it looks pretty fly. My oldest son has both PS4 and XBox One, he kinda gave up on XBox One but only because he does some online gaming and all his bros play on PS4. They are pretty much the same thing although I think the PS4 has more juice beneath the hood.

Just bought an Xbox One, so I guess I'll be using it to play Battlefront and whatever else they have in development at EA (if I recall, one is being developed by Visceral, one by Bioware [Bioware Montreal I believe?], and apparently there are reports of EA Canada working on something).

I own a PC capable of running most games adequately but as far as videogames are concerned I'm an old school Nintendo fan. Their recent output is absolutely stellar so it breaks my heart to see how what was once the home of great Star Wars games (the rogue leader series being my favourite) will probably be ignored.

So PC it will be I guess

If the game can be modded, I get it for PC. Otherwise, PS4.
I use a wireless 360 controller on my PC and it works flawlessly.

(I have had a 360 for a long time, I just never really used it. Bought it because it looks like R2-D2 and has a C-3PO controller. So, no XBone for me.)

I have all current gen systems (including Wii U), but I'll be picking up all future Star Wars games on PC. Especially Battlefront.

Just knowing DICE and how they've handled their PC ports in the past with Battlefield 3 and 4 (which are graphical powerhouses in their own right), Battlefront will flat out look superior and run smoother on PC. In fact, I built my current PC because of the new Battlefront. I feel confident that Visceral and Bioware will follow similar development philosophies.

The new gen (I think it's safe to say they're current gen at this point) consoles are not at all impressive in terms of power. They're a little less powerful than current mid-range PCs, and when you can put together a PC that's more powerful than Xbox One or PS4 for $500 (Xbox Ones original price tag), why would one even bother? So you can keep paying yearly for online gaming services? Even though you've already bought the console, already bought the game, and are already paying your internet provider monthly. Microsoft doesn't even let you use video services such as Netflix or Hulu unless you're an Xbox live gold member. Phooey. And then there's the games.

Compared to PC, these new consoles can barely handle these "next gen" titles at decent frame rates and resolution. And they're only a year old! PC ports of some of these titles are even being nerfed to console standards so there aren't any stark differences between platforms (examples include Watchdogs and The Evil Within) even though computers can more than handle it. So if current computer hardware can handle it, then why not show us just how good games can look nowadays via PCs? Consoles will never be able to produce that kind of "wow" factor a "next gen" piece of hardware should be anyway. But I guess they can't have one platform overshadowing the others or sales will drop or interest will wane or something.

Plus, 4K is pretty much now a reality on PC, as long as you have the hardware to handle it. And the possibilities of the Oculus Rift (currently a PC only endeavor) are endless. Can you imagine diving under an AT-AT in the cockpit of your snowspeeder, narrowly avoiding clipping its legs, all within the immersion of the Oculus Rift? That would be an absolute dream come true. At least for me.

Anyway, that's my reasoning for my wanting to play these new Star Wars games on PC rather than anything else. Now don't take me as a "console hatin PC elitist" or anything. I have all of them; clearly I don't hate them. Hell, I grew up playing games on consoles. Those are some of the best memories I have. But times are a changin guys. And the grass truly is greener on the other side in my opinion.

    Didn't even mention Steam sales.

@Maximum7 now that you revived ancient (pre-TFA) thread:
I'm thinking of getting a second hand XBox one S or X. Mainly to get an effordable 4k bluray player for my entry level 4k TV and some games for me and my family as a bonus.

I personally would just get the One S for 4k bluray playback. There isn't anything more to gain by going with the One X unless you're using it to play games as well. Even for gaming, I would hold off until next year since the next gen xbox is likely to be released next year. Definitely save your money by getting a One S strictly for 4k bluray play back rather than going to the One X.
