That's because he was purposely trying to copy Alec Guinness by then and even had George Lucas edit together every single second of footage of him as Obi-Wan and went as far as prosthetics and hairpieces.

I think that's because he was still trying to find the right balance between friend and guardian/master .

I agree! Unfortunately, George didn't keep in mind that we haven't seen much of what they've been through together as characters on screen, so it came off much colder in AOTC than it should have..If you read the comics or books/tv series you can watch AOTC with much less anxiety or awkward moments because you know they're pals. :)

True. I really hate to gripe about it since I do find lots of joy and even a euphoria when I watch them (lots to do with John Williams :)). There is such an amazing story to tell there and it was an almost but not quite attempt that has us all upset ONLY because we know the potential of the story there. It could have been an untouchable piece of genius, but instead we get a nice set of films with a ton of flaws.

I mean, it's not THAT big of a deal but it's still a gripe for a lot of us, yeah...I did like how there were throwaway lines that showed obi-wan's vulnerabilities about the ten year time span though and the way ewan reacted to it. I would have preferred more of 5 year time jump with anakin being more old in TPM and ewan being able to play against someone closer to his age.

Revenge of the Sith. Ewan McGregor in my opinion, is the best Obi-Wan. Alec Guinness is great, but McGregor's Obi-Wan was so fleshed out, you got to see and learn more about the character than you did in the OT. McGregor is so great that his pogression of the character makes you feel his Kenobi and Guinness' Kenobi are the same character, which is what you want to achieve. And I think with Sith he truly achieved it. I love Star Wars, and McGregor made me love Obi-Wan more than I did before. Top notch performance in all of them, but Episode III truly sealed it for me as why Ewan is the real Obi-Wan.

I voted TROTS version, he was focused & disciplined in that one despite his jedi life coming crashing down on him.

AOTC. I might not remember it right, but I think he had a sense of humor in that one.

Voted Revenge of the Sith. Loved Ewan's line delivery and I really felt the pain he felt over his friend turning to the Dark Side.

I'd say ROTS. TPM Obi Wan was largely absent for much of the film. AToC Obi was easily the best part of that film, but RoTS Obi is hard to beat, especially in his final words to Anakin.

I liked them all. I couldn't say I have a favorite Obi Wan from any episode.

In TPM we see a more brash Obi Wan. "Why do I get the feeling we picked up another PATHETIC life form?" Also just look at his face when Qui Gon dies. It is no longer the cool headed rational Obi Wan, he is more animalistic. Definently had a propensity to go towards the dark side in Episode 1.

AOTC and ROTS, we get to see his full character as a matured Jedi. He was witty, good in battle, and stepping into the role prepared for him.

    So I don't have a specific favorite so I couldn't vote.

I like how Obi-Wan plays a detective in AOTC.

It's how we see the character develop into maturity, albeit with just the right touch of humor that Alec Guinness would bring to the character in Star Wars.

One of my favorite scenes is the confrontation between OB1 and Jango in his apartment on Kamino. Ewan McGregor brings a sense of cunningly sharp wit to the character that is so engaging.
