SPECULATION What will be in the first trailer ?

Good idea for a thread!

Some ideas -

1st Teaser:

60 seconds, no dialogue.

• Shot of Ach-to. Fade to black.
• Shote of Luke looking up. Day time. (same as the announcement video). Fade to black.
• Shot of Rey on Ach-to. Day time. (same as the announcement video). Fade to black.
• Title card - "In 2017"
• New shot of Kylo Ren, night time, raining
• Title card "The Darkside"
• New shot of KOR in the night time, raining (Darth Vader's theme plays)
• Title card "Will Rise"
• New shot of Kylo's saber igniting, with the KOR behind him in the rain, on Ach-to, marching up a hill towards a hut
• Quick shots of Finn, Poe, the Falcon in space, one shot of an arial battle, ends on a shot of Leia
• Title card "Star Wars: Rise of the Darkside".
• Ends with a shot of Luke and Rey at the top of the hill, outside the hut, with him in front and her off to the left and slightly behind - he pulls out the green saber and it ignites.
• Fade to black.

My turn spread

Rey running up the path she walked in TFA, she stops at a high point to take a breather suddenly Luke's voice is heard saying ''keep going''.
Kylo destroys Vader's mask in a rage.
Leia breathing heavy as Kylo's voice is heard saying ''it's been long time...mother''

 

Opens up on Po is standing in front of a bacta tank with Finn inside staring at him.

You see Kylo talking to someone saying "I killed my own father, you still question me?"

some spaceship battles in actually space with BB-8 in the back of an x-wing

It ends with Luke beating Rey in Training, while Rey is on the ground Luke says " I was once told, 'do or do not, there is no try'...now again!" and he turns on his lightsaber.

 

Some things i'm thinking that are not in any sort of order:

- Ben facing Snoke in person with his new scars but we don't see snoke and only hear him say a word or a sentence .

- Luke's green lightsaber being ignited .

- Rey in the millenium falcon

- Chewbacca blasting someone/something with his crossbow .

- Poe standing next to Leia .

.

I wanna say maybe we'll get voice-over of Snoke. It'll definitely be a darker more gloomy tone. Then we'll be shown quick glimpses of our three new leads, Rey, Poe, and Finn.

 

I'm sure it'll just be some quick shots, like the first trailers for AOTC and TFA. Standard teaser trailer stuff. Or maybe a short scene followed by lots of quick cuts of the main players' faces (Rey, Luke, Finn, Poe, Kylo, Leia, and the three main newbies).

Given how soon it will come after Rogue One, I doubt they'd overdo it with something dialogue-heavy (like the teaser trailers for ROTS and TPM).

 

Since it's too soon to release anything even though they're already done shooting and all i think we will see a 30 second teaser which will be most likely about the villian

I really hope we get a brief Yoda cameo. How amazing would it be if the trailer ends with him saying something to Rey/Luke. Would be a lot like Han saying "Chewie, we're home."

See something like that would make a good teaser in a old school style.. If it ended with Luke's green lightsaber being ignited it would be perfect.

 

I don't think they will reveal too much of Luke in the trailers. At least, not his lines.

I wonder if they will show Benicio Del Toro's character. If he turns to be the main villain of VIII, maybe we could have a teaser with a bunch of his lines, and then, at the end, he could appear as a cold war lord. With TFA, they did it with Snoke.

PS: uh, and I think that, while TFA's trailers soundtrack was centered on the Force theme, this time we will get the darker tone of Kylo Ren's theme.

 

My turn:

EXT. ACH-TO - NIGHT
It's raining, in the far distance we see the back of a hooded figure.

CUT TO:
A group of heavy armored warriors are running up the hillside, we only see boots treading through mud.

BACK TO:
Closer shot of the hooded person turning to welcome the intruders.
The group of warriors approach the hooded figure, these are the KNIGHTS OF REN.
Suddenly we hear a unstable lightsaber. KYLO REN emerges of the group and walks slowly to the hooded figure.
The hooded figure activates a GREEN LIGHTSABER and raises his head, it's LUKE SKYWALKER.

CUT TO BLACK
STAR WARS: THE ECHO OF DARKNESS

 

If I had to choose an order..I would pick a cut from black to the green saber igniting in his robot hand .

 

That's way too close to the announcement of filming trailer, but some of it is very possible.

I think even for the teaser you have to include new Luke dialogue. Something cryptic that sounds like he's being menacing to Rey, but turns out to be said to Kylo when you see the film. "You will regret finding me, little one"---something like that.

I think we definitely see Luke's light saber ignite in his gloved hand.


The teaser will likely have a shot of A wing fighters attacking a star destroyer or defending a frigate or space station.

I think we get some shot of the stuff from Croatia, a shot of Boyega, but only from the chest up, as well as either Snoke or Del Toro's character (not speaking) as well as a shot of random aliens.


It's October with Rogue getting little buzz so I'm almost positive no trailer until February.....unless advance ticket sales are very weak. They might release the trailer only with the movie and be really vigilant about keeping it off YouTube and other sites. Highly unlikely though.

Since the first teaser won't arrive until Mid-February (I think they'd be nuts to wait until SWC in April to release the first teaser....I think they'll release one of those idiotic BTS shorts like they did last year at SWC, and in 2015 at SDCC. LFL has convinced themselves that fans love those things, despite large number of fans feeling a letdown when they get that instead of an actual trailer.) I think it will have more meat than the Nov 2014 teaser for TFA. That's why I think you'll get dialogue in the first one.


The way LFL seems to be playing this, the title for the film won't be revealed until 10 months before the release. They will also have released no stills from the film, no clips (that announcement thing doesn't count because it was TFA stuff from another angle) until probably early February.

At that point they will have to release a substantial first teaser with the title for EVIII, then release a full trailer 2.5 months later in April, then a second full one in July/August, then TV spots in October.

They need to explain how this one is different from RO and connected to TFA.

 

any series of quick images with an awesome williams score over it is fine as long as luke actually talks in it... and i don't mean more recycled quotes from return of the jedi. free luke's voice!

 

A JW score deserves mroe than quick cuts...this isn't a zack snyder movie .

 

I figure we will get a voice over of some sort. It will be short. I expect a lot of quick shots. We will see most of the main characters.

Sounds good! Only I think Luke will be portrayed as a more as an enigmatic character with a quick shot towards the end. The teaser will probably feature the new characters (Tran, Del toro, Dern) along with the new cast. Luke will be treated "as a tease". I have a feeling they'll hold off on the whole green saber till much later or in the film itself.
