?

Will Rian Johnson introduce a new original dread such as TESB did with the carbon freeze chamber?

Greetings! I recently heard it mentioned that it's likely, star wars: episode 8 may have it's own version of the infamous and dreaded carbon freeze chamber scene of TESB. I agree. Rian Johnson may just in fact pay homage. IMO, the whole idea of Han Solo being trapped in hibernation within this foreign black substance was one of the most terrifying yet original ideas ever to be introduced to the big screen let alone science fiction/fantasy (at the time). Seeing Han's face covered in that ghastly shell gives me a sense of suffocation, fear, loneliness and hopelessness every time I lay my eyes upon it and in saying this, I feel that herein lies the dilemma. That is one tough act to follow. Rian Johnson seem's to posses enough of the dark side in his writing style to perhaps, pull it off. But in this situation, possessing the dark side when wielding the pen isn't enough. It will take a serious sense of originality and creativity just to rival, let alone best the current carbonite champion.

We all pretty much know that the sequel trilogy will follow in the footsteps of the original trilogy when it comes to the middle act being the darkest act of the three. We also know Rian Johnson is a great candidate for the job. I feel he will definitely push the boundaries of the star wars universe, unlike JJ, who chose to play it safe and lay the foundation for which I personally don't blame him (like they say, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it).

My questions to the fans are:

    1. Do you agree that Rian Johnson will try an introduce a new terror to the star wars universe such as TESB did with the carbonite chamber?

    2. What are some of your ideas of what it might possibly be or what form it will take? Will it be a machine? A being/person/alien? Will it be mental/the force? Will it be a place? I personally have no clue but if I had to guess, I would say that it won't be a machine as the carbonite chamber was. I think it will be some sort of new alien with a special function or ability. But that's just me. :)

How about a dark energy device. Convert the person into pure energy and storing them in a crystal or a mind wipe machine for converting people into obedient troopers?

I don't think there'll be carbonite, but I do think there will be a character who's fate will be left ambiguous, like Han's was in ESB. I think that character will be Luke.

They will revisit Bespin with Poe's new mission and he stumbles upon the chamber that froze Han Solo, but Kylo has lured him there and wants to follow in his grandfather's footsteps, and attempts to push Poe into the chamber but Poe barely escaped with his life .
