In other terms, the question could be: how long will be the gap between R1 last picture and ANH first picture (agression of Tantive IV) ?

I personally think that the last picture will show us Jyn Erso giving the plans to Princess Leia Organa - of course, this one will be viewed from rear.

    What's your opinion ?

I think the plans are transferred via data transmission. There will be no physical contact between Leia / the Tantive IV and the Group around Jyn. At least not for the DS plans.

Darth Vader: [to Rebel] Where are those transmissions you intercepted? What have you done with those plans?

Maybe as last shot, we see Leia's Ship from the outside and then some communication officer within at his station receiving the plans with the death Star plans on his display, preparing the storage device (which Leia will feed into Artoo later).

I think they will take a page from the Han Solo Trilogy. Jyn feels a lot like a Bria Tharen for the new canon... my guess is the last shot is Jyn dying just after confirming the transmission was recieved

I'm wondering if the Empire thinks they've stopped the Rogues by having ships in waiting for them.

They get captured, or boarded, it doesn't matter, they are dying and know they won't last long at the hands of the enemy.

Imperial officers take Jyn's hard drive we see her carrying in the BTS reel, and plug it into a computer to re-send the data, when a Blockade Runner drops out of hyperspace and receives the signal rather than the Imperials it was intended for, then it takes off again.

Iris out, cue song, roll credits.

I agree with you 100%. There should be no physical contact between Leia and Jyn's group as Vader told Leia that the info had been beemed to her ship. Kind of funny hearing the word ''beamed'' in SW as that sounds quite Star Treky but those were Vader's words. :)

I also think the use of "intercepted" is interesting. I wonder how they might play with that aspect.

I assume she is beaming the transmission to the ship from that tower in the trailer as she limps towards that TIE fighter, soon after she will be killed in some way.

But I suspect the last scene will be Leia's ship receiving the transmission, and perhaps picking up the signal of a Star Destroyer approaching/dropping out of hyperspace. It could literally end where the first movie starts.

I was so excited to create a new topic that I completely lost all my blast [IMG]. Of course, you are right, there cannot be any physical exchange between Jyn and Leia, for the reason you gave.

    Best speculation so far.

There is a danger of connecting the dots too closely. It might lead to inconsistencies. Having said that, it would be cool if we could see Jyn transmit the plans. I do not need to see Leia receiving them.

Where are those transmissions you intercepted? What have you done with those plans?

I know that Vader looks for the transmissions that have been intercepted, but it could be that Jyn and her team have intercepted the plans (from internal empiral communications) and that they then give (as a hard drive or data tape) them to Leia on Tantive IV. Without sounding too much like Obi-Wan, Vader's use of 'you' could be plural and refer to the Rebel Alliance as a whole.

I would think that it will end with the Tantive IV receiving the plans in some way.

If I had it my way, I would like to see Jyn transmit the plans, look straight into the camera, then cut to a shot with a badly damaged ship crashing into a Star Destroyer, and die a tragic, but heroic end. And finally, just before impact, as she looks into the camera, she looks and sees the Tantive IV blockade running away from the Executor, and a single tear and small smile is shown.

EDIT: Devastator, not the Executor. Thanks @Star Dude, I messed up there big time. I mean, I made a Rogue One thread before about possibly seeing the Devastator, and I read the Darth Vader comics which feature the Executor after ANH, for crying out loud!

Only that it would be the Devastator, Vader was onboard of that basic ISD Class 1, the super star destroyer Executer was not his ship yet in ANH ;)

Ah, such a silly mistake! I know better, I even made a thread about the Devastator being the Star Destroyer we see in the first trailer! I won't change it, just merely add an edit :) Thanks for keeping me in check!

I've been wondering about this myself. Seeing this is a race against time (before the Death Star is fully functional), I'd say RO ends moments before IV begins. However, I still see it ending with Mon Mothma honouring the fallen team in some way. Wether there will be any survivor from the team with her to honour their teammates is another story.

For laughs and kicks, I can see this being the reason why Chewie didn't get a medal; it went for the Rogue members. :p
