What would you like to see in EP9

    So was wondering what sort of light saber battle sequence could be in EP9. Have thought about and one sort of battle we havent seen is a full fledged light saber battle in public. I also would like to see more populated worlds. So was thinking that after a flight/battle sequence through a city landscape like Coruscant for instance. The opponents could be forced down and an climactic battle occurs with lots and lots of people around. People watching, people running the opponents chasing each other from building to building, platform to platform, structure to structure.

    As for the opponents of course the obvious is Rey vs Kylo, but depending on any redemption arcs, etc. It could be other participants.

    basically Scaramouche in a gffa. i dig this.

    not sure who i would want to be the combatants, though.
    i think Rey and Ren could have a battle early on the film, but seems doubtful the "big" climax would be between them.
    we've seen them fight. against each other, together ~ what's the next logical progression?

    I really like that idea. It could be really intense.

    I think so far the new movies have done some pretty cool stuff.

    Battle in Snowy Woods on Rupturing Starkiller Base (great subtle use of environment in a lightsaber fight)

    Vader's Hallway Scene (great way of showing power of Vader)

    Praetorian Fight (great way to show two enemies teaming up, force users v non-force user fight)

    Crait (not even technically a fight)


    I like the idea of a populous area, because it could play on Rey's desire to protect and Kylo's drive to do whatever is necessary.

    A few other ideas:

    -zero g lightsaber fight

    - Lightsaber fight (or portion of fight) in entirely darkened room- we only see the swords and the splash of light they give off

    - a very quick fight, like Obi Wan v Maul in Rebels

    If Kylo turns it could be Rey and Kylo vs Knights of Ren, but that seems rather like TLJ throne room.

    Could be group on group. If time lapse big enough so that Rey actually has students.

    Could be Kylo and Rey and in the end Kylo gives up and cant fight any longer and gives in to feelings for Rey and lets go of hate. This is if you buy into the Reylo theory.

    Ideally, I'd like to see Kylo Ren blast all of the new characters to smithereens and the ST to end with the Galaxy under his reign.

    I personally do wonder if to some degree that is what this trilogy is about: working towards setting up a whole further series of ongoing movies in which our new heroes fight against the evil tyranny of Kylo Ren's new Empire.

    Basically, In some ways, I think Disney perhaps want to take the OT and remake it into an ongoing series. Of course they know they can't just get away with that - an audience is generally not going to accept an all new cast in those roles. So instead they've recast with new versions of those characters, with different names, and soft rebooted and marketed as a sequel. But a new version of Star Wars, where they can just keep on telling those episodic stories, more like modern versions of those space opera serials on which it's based than the 'saga' that it became.

    It would mean we won't see all the new characters blasted to smithereens though! I doubt that is going to happen. Well... not yet anyway.

    Of course, it all hinges on being able to keep Adam Driver contracted for a further series of movies.

    Yeah, I wonder whether an intent behind this trilogy is to set up another but in a different way to what the audience might expect.

    if the theme is balance, they have to maintain that balance somehow.
    fight to death doesn't seem like balance to me.

    At the moment, I'm hoping that there will be a cool fight, but it ends with Kylo Ren surrounding. But, Luke will appear and take Kylo/Ben into a world-between-worlds kind of thing and he will learn more about the Force, redemption/forgiveness and travel throughout the galaxy doing neat stuff.

    well this is different! i'd love it if time was suspended in that world between worlds and there could be many adventures there in the EU as well perhaps. : D

    Yeah, I haven't really thought out the details too clearly, but I think the story would implode upon itself if Ben dies and has no redemption or just simply dies. So, it would need a twist that gives the audience hope and speculation about his future without spelling it out.

    However, I think this sounds too much like the Wesley Crusher storyline in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Haha.
