Yes! And X-Wing Rogue Squadron canon version. Wedge, Snap Wexely, Nien Numb, Norra etc could be in it. I'd like to see Sinjir in it too. And Aftermath: Empires End hinted at some enemies like the New Seperatist Union and Confederacy of Corporate Systems as well as warlords claiming the imperial legacy.

it would be cool to see an animated series of Luke trying to start the jedi again.

Sign me up for a post ROTJ series. Not only is it a timeline that is entirely unexplored in depth so far, setting in that time frame allows them to tell stories that are different than what we're used to. So far all we've really seen is big galactic conflicts with the Rebellion/Resistance fighting the Empire/First Order or the Clone Wars. I wanna see the New Republic getting on its feet, dealing with all the systems that are in upheaval after the fall of the Empire, the rise in piracy and lawlessness that comes from the downfall of a major power, that sort of thing. Tell stories that aren't about the fledgling good guys fighting the massive evil bad guy organization. I wanna see the good guys clearly in charge and on the rise for once, and have to deal with the unique situations that lends itself to. Mopping up the last of the Imperial holdouts, the formation of the new Jedi Order, etc.

Plus a post ROTJ series would let them include both characters from the OT as well as Rebels (whoever survives anyways) which would be a nice touch.

I think a lot of people believe the most obvious choice for the next animated series would be an interquel between ROTJ and TFA - but I actually think this might not be the direction they go with it.

-Although I wouldn't go so far as to call Disney "anti-prequel," they have at least made it clear that they are trying to distance themselves from the prequels - reduced CGI, reduced child characters, no Gungans, etc. I think it would be fair to say that Disney doesn't exactly view the telling of Anakin's fall as a triumph (although I disagree). I believe that Disney is deliberately avoiding telling this kind of story for Kylo Ren - they intentionally skipped over it for VII, and my hunch is that they aren't eager to go back and tell it now.

-Actor availability for such a series would be pretty low. I think it's unlikely that they could get Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, or Mark Hamill to do a TV series (although I'd love to be proven wrong about that), and Carrie is no longer available. They would have to replace pretty much the entire cast with voice-matches, which would be a negative.

But for me, the biggest problem with this idea:

-There is simply not enough story to tell. Obviously they aren't going to make episode after episode of Luke and Ben doing training exercises, or of Rey gathering scrap for Unkar Plutt. They could get a few episodes out of Poe battling the First Order or Luke and Ben tangling with the Knights of Ren, but the most interesting part of the story is Ben's turn to the Dark Side - and while that would be cool to see, as soon as they tell that story the show is basically over.

I'm not just trying to be "hater," and if Disney thinks they can make this show idea work, I would love to watch it. Still, I think they have some significant roadblocks if they want to try this.

An interquel doesn't have to focus on the period when Luke is training Ben. It could be just post-ROTJ, for example.

i'm good with not seeing young Ben (i like my headcanon just fine).

that said, i still do want to see the FO in its infancy.
unless it's just a garbage dog-eats-dog sort of organization, in which case i'll be disappointed and don't want to see it. hahahaha

I have loved TCW and Rebels, but i would like something fresh and new please, and not a series that tells us how we got from A to B.

Rian Johnson making a brand new trilogy outside of the current saga really excites me, and i'd like to see that happen on the animated side of the garage too. :)

Good point! And my idea is that most probably we won`t see her anywhere else (movies, live actions), but animated SW (maybe books or comics), so she perfectly fits this role, at least for me. I don`t think it's original idea, but still - there are no Jedi to teach Luke...

I would like to see an animated series on Luke and his attempt to build the Jedi academy. I mean you have him take Ben Solo im guessing at a young age so I wouldnt be surprise to see a story built on the empire rebuilding stage and the Rebels termoil with Princess Leia and the republic. along with Luke doing the academy.

Now that i think of it that would be a hard story to do. there is no plot hole for characters really. damn...

I'm in the camp of wanting a Jedi Academy cartoon set between ROTJ and TFA. For starters, I feel like this story is too important for just a book or a comic. This is a huge missing chapter and unless they do it live action by recasting Luke--please no--I would like a cartoon.

As a kid, my favorite books were the Jude Watson series about young Obi-Wan and young Anakin, and the Young Jedi Knights/Junior Jedi Knights books about the Solo children. I can't tell you how much I would love for them to capture that spirit in a TV show.

And you could do so much to tie it into Rebels/Clone Wars. Perhaps Luke could search out people like Kanan, Ezra, and Ashoka to help start his academy. We've already seen that the animated shows are willing to explore the mystic even moreso than the movies--maybe we see more of Luke's journey into knowledge of the force?

I'm going to go with the majority and say that I want an animated series about Luke Skywalker/the new Jedi after ROTJ. What I want to see is his adventures with a younger Lor San Tekka or tales from his new Jedi academy. I'd like to see one told as a TV Show and the other told as a book series like the New Jedi Order series of Legends. I'd say the former would make for a better TV series, it'd be very similar to Rebels. Each week, our heroes go on a new adventure to a different part of the galaxy to recover a Jedi/Sith artifact, learn more about the Force, etc. I feel that the latter idea about the fall of Ben Solo and the new Jedi would be too mature for a Disney XD show. Maybe on Netflix or Disney's new streaming service, but I don't see that happening, which is unfortunate as it could've been a lot like TCW.

Maybe we could even get Mark Hamill to voice Luke? I don't know how expensive that would be to do though...

i feel torn about getting this. i kinda want it, but it also seems like it would be torturous knowing where it's all leading.
and i'm not sure i want to see Ben Solo suffering through his transformation either.

I had this thought, too. But the Clone Wars series did this really well with Anakin. It's a sad story but it might actually add a lot to the narrative.

And there's a lot of good years before the bad. Remember, Ben was still good up until at least six years before TFA, and a cartoon would probably want to focus on him at a younger age.

if it avoided the trap of showing a lot of ominous foreshadowing it could work, yes.
and it would be nice to know what kind of kid Ben was. he can't have always been a sad Eeyore; that just seems beyond cruel.

seeing the other students would be still kinda grim to me. like all those padawans in TCW.
we can pretend they survived Order 66, but then again.... hahahaha

Oh gosh. I honestly never thought of this until right now. Well, I'll never watch those episodes the same way again.

My second choice for a new animated series would be one that takes place between TLJ and IX. It would be really intriguing to see a Clone Wars style series that actually advances the story beyond the point of the films to get us ready for the next one. Some might think it gets to close to "required viewing" for a cartoon, but I don't think it would be, any more than TCW is required viewing for ROTS. And having a cartoon that advances the plot like this might really draw some new viewers, too.
