i love this idea! if we have a time jump between TLJ and IX we could do a lot with that ~ and yeah, it doesn't have to directly influence/impact the forward action of IX in a "required" viewing sort of way. i would just love to see more of the fight between the FO and all these worlds they are conquering. could have a whole different cast of characters and maybe only occasionally touch in on the fact that Kylo Ren is Supreme Leader, etc.; it doesn't need a lot of overlap.

I really want to see disney have the courage to make another show that takes place around the prequels.

Maybe the seeds of a rebel alliance forming through the entire prequels

I think they'll do a series post-Ep IX that'll feature Rey training a new group of Jedi. It'd be less beholden to the Canon that came before it and wouldn't have to feature characters that we know would either die or turn by the end.

Thinking like a Disney Store executive, I actually see them doing an anthology series that jumps around the entire timeline. Self-contained stories that explore all the eras, some told in multi-episode arcs, others in one-off 20 minute episodes. It's a merchandiser's dream, because it means dozens and dozens more toys each year, and also a TV scheduler's dream, because they only need to schedule a handful of new episodes at a time and can litter the schedule with the show as filler whenever there's a gap.

I want to see an Old Republic Animated series. There is so much story opportunities in the Pre-TPM Galaxy Far Far Away. Give us fresh characters and stories that don't effect the main Star Wars canon. If they do it they should find a way to fit characters like Revan in it somehow

I like the idea of a prelude to the sequels. You can tell there's a lot of stuff that happened. Luke working with Lor San Tekka on the map to At-cho. Ben's fall to the Dark Side, interactions with Snoke. Maybe how Snoke rose to power, since as of the Aftermath Trilogy it's Grand Admiral Sloane who's in charge (and she's still up there as of Phasma).

Maybe, but I want a break from the Era the movies have covered and I want to know what happened before and After the Skywalkers.
Clone Wars was a great series but it as well as Rebels had to take care not to trample on the canon According to the movies (even thought they took a few creative liberties) I believe a post OT/Pre ST show would suffer from the same restrictions whereas a show set way back in the Old Republic could do just about anything they want without effecting the events of the movies. I just see more opportunity in an Old Republic show

Set it right after the battle of Jakku. Have the NR deal with Imperial Remnants. Have Luke going exploring. Show baby Ben.

I just had an idea - what if they did a show where the main character was Luke’s lightsaber? Like it starts with someone finding it on Bespin, and every episode it finds its way to a new person or situation until we finally see how Maz got it.

    I call it “Saber.” :)

Could make a good miniseries, or series of shorts, but I don't see how this could be sustained on a multi-season regular TV series...

Format-wise, that makes sense. I was thinking more financially: wouldn't the idea require constantly developing new characters and settings, without being able to rely on ones you've already built? That takes a lot of manpower, which brings up the budget. One of the reasons, I read somewhere, that Rebels has kept returning to Lothal, is for budgetary reasons like these. And, with Rebels, probably most of the character animation lies in animating the six main characters, so they get to use the same foundational work in most of the character animation. Maybe I'm misinformed about how animation works, but if I've got it roughly correct, the proposed series couldn't rely on these methods for keeping the budget under control.

Then again, perhaps LFL is ready to commit higher budgets to their animation division. Will future animated series be on the new Disney streaming service? If so, who knows how their budget structure is going to work? Maybe they'll throw bigger, even break-even budgets to certain flagship series in order to ensure the survival and growth of the streaming service as a whole. It would make me (and I'm sure a lot of other fans, I assume) happy to find out they're going to do something like this for the SW live action and animated series...

You either set it between ROTJ and TFA to fill in more gaps or have it set in a completely different timeline like The Old Republic so it can be as creative as it needs to be.

I would love to see an animated series with a more visionary and adult style, something more original with more personality. Disney knows how to do it and there are plenty of incredible artists out there.
I would really love to see something like Tron: Uprising in SW Universe. The animation, the concept art of environments, characters, ships and machines, the light game, the combination of cgi and more arthistic and patient work. That show was absolutely brilliant.
