we don't know yet how Kylo Ren got his hands on Darth Vader's melted mug, but where do you think it will end up by the end of the Sequel Trilogy?

and, more importantly, why does the fate of the mask matter? (because you know it does!)

I assumed it was still on the finalizer, but yes, I have wondered about it.

Hopefully Luke will end up with it & this time he can do a proper job of getting rid of it.

Or it ends up as Hux's cat's litter tray

I think the Acolytes of the Beyond helped to track down Vader's mask.

I can imagine Snoke toying with Luke's feelings for his father before showing him the mask once again. Something like this:

    SNOKE
If only you had listened to the words of your father, if only you had joined the dark side, your father would still be alive to this day.

    LUKE
You don't know anything about my true father.

Suddenly, Snoke drops Vader's BROKEN HELMET unceremoniously to the floor. Luke HESITATES for a moment. For the first time in DECADES, he sees the sinister mask once again.

    SNOKE
It is such a tragedy what happened to LORD VADER.

possibly! and/or the Knights of Ren. it would be interesting to know who would even know where to look. if Luke had a chance to try to talk Ben down, he might have even told him where Vader's last resting place was.

if the mask was Vader's, was it Kylo Ren who hired Bazine? or the Acolytes? or someone else working for Snoke?

I thought it would be cool if Kylo used Vaders voice modulator from the damaged mask in his own helmet...just in one scene to freak out luke or something by hearing his Father's/Vader's voice. (James Earl Jones reprisal naturally) (dark)

I can't imagine that voice modulator would work too well after being burned up in Vader's funeral pyre. And Kylo already imitates Vader's voice when he's wearing his own helmet.

To be honest, I'd be surprised if we even see the helmet again. It worked in TFA but do we need to see it again? No, not really.

Johnson may throw out the rules, but generally good storytelling dictates that you can't drop a powerful token like this in the first act and then just forget about it.

in a perfect world perhaps it would be Leia who ultimately disposes of it--she's the one who hasn't come to terms with Vader being her father. but that seems rather unlikely now. whatever becomes of it, i hope it's done with her in mind. : o (

"you can't drop a powerful token like this in the first act and then just forget about it." You can if it's already served its purpose.
