    Wasn't 'Kira' one of the names Lucas originally considered for an early female version of 'Luke'?

    That's just from memory at the moment though, and a quick search only finds more recent connections with the current films and Rey.

    I saw it as perhaps a feminised version of Akira, as in A'kira' Kurosawa.
