Expanding on from that, the entire scene in Yoda's hut is one of my favourite scenes in all of Star Wars. So many great lines that I really can't single any of them out. I'd love to have experienced this in 1980 with the twist that this funny, oddball little creature is in fact a wise and powerful Jedi master. But even when you already know who Yoda is, it's still a great reveal.

I love how atmospheric the scene is too, both in how cozy Yoda's hut looks (especially with the rain and thunder outside), and just the general mood. It's a haunting moment when Yoda talks about how he used to train Jedi. You can hear the warm nostalgia, and yet the sadness and yearning in his voice reminiscing on those days which have long since passed. And the fantastic music is what completes the scene.

I like the matte paintings in Cloud City.

    Also, the Red Lights.

    Period.

' "During the final confrontation, when Luke has Vader on the ground, the red lights of the elevator were design elements but were there specifically," Lucas would say. "The color goes symbolically into the blood of the father and son, and a move toward hell-- because this is where Luke is either going to hell or not."'-p. 170.

This is probably the most extreme piece of symbolism in SW, and I think that few people are aware of it.

    I can't believe I haven't responded to this thread yet....here goes.

A lot of you know I am a starship geek, and have a military background. I've said it before, the death star attack sequence at the end of ANH is prob my fave scene of all time in SW, because of the little touches that Lucas did as they prepped the X and Y-wings for attack.

The ground maintenance teams unhooking power and fuel lines from the spacecraft.....the "crew chief" handing the helmet to the Y-Wing pilot and getting him strapped in. The maintenance crew asking Luke if he wanted another R2 unit, and Luke's "not on your life" reply.

As they gather in formation off of Yavin-IV and proceed to the Death Star (one of the most iconic scenes ever as the X-Wing slides by and the camera pulls back to show the formation.....and then Red Leader, Garven Dreis, in his "clipped" professional confident tones talking to the young pilots, calming them down. Exactly as a seasoned squadron commander would do in a Fighter Squadron today (I have personal experience in the 44th Fighter Squadron at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa).

It sounds crazy and geeky, but when Red Leader says "This is it, boys"....damn one of my favorite moments in the whole series....

You can’t go wrong with that scene! the visuals, JW’s amazing theme, the weight of the moment that Hamill just nails.

There are many moments I liked in the OT but one of my favourites is when Han stepped on Jabbas tail, just shows alot about both characters.

    So many moments!!!

I find myself welling up with emotion at leia s "good luck" and the peck on the cheek she gives luke before they both swing on the rope in the death star chase in ANH
    Its just innocent and charming.

the music and moment when luke hears obi wan voice in the death star trench. "let go Luke". Christ!!!!! it s so spiritual

Anything with Yoda in ESB!!!! Yoda hitting R2 with with his stick, fighting over the lamp!!!!!
The way obi wan is kinda scary and not really friendly with luke in the force vision in Hoth. i don't know... kinda spooky

i love when vader picks up is light saber using the force in ROTJ final fight but we only see in on a close up and only hear it cos its The emperors POV he then says "good ,good"
again scary. u think luke is not gonna win this!!!!

any shot of Luke with green light saber!!!!!!!
    and of course .....

"its unwise to lower to your DEFENCES"

"come on han old buddie, don't let down"

oh.. and every minute of last 30mins of ESB!!!

Been watching lots of The Clone Wars lately and noticing how they try and add these to Obi-Wan's model.

Definitely one of my top SW moments of all time!
    --- Double Post Merged, May 15, 2020, Original Post Date: May 15, 2020 ---
Fascinating! I'll pay more attention to these details on my next rewatch.
    --- Double Post Merged, May 15, 2020 ---
Just this morning I was wondering about the process of conceptualising and bringing Artoo's expressive sounds to life.
    --- Double Post Merged, May 15, 2020 ---
Recently rewatched Episode I and also noticed how they simply had these Mission:Impossible-like gadgets up their sleeves like whatever. Also just yesterday I watched The Unknown episode of The Clone Wars where ARC Trooper Fives asks Anakin – Are your scopes Jedi-issue, Sir? – when Skywalker produces a clearly less bulky, more gadgety pair of them.

So awesome to read all of these! Was gonna go for I love you. I know. but was already taken. Also hadn't thought about Luke's green lightsaber; I've been enjoying a lot the different lightsaber combos in The Clone Wars' duels and there's always something special about the green ones.

I'll add my own detail now, thanks for the inspiration. When they close the gates at Echo Base for the night and the moment they get shut Chewie cries out loud! Breaks my heart every time, realising how unforgiving this Galaxy can get and truly feeling our heroes' relatable anguishes.

If we're talking small moments that achieve big ends, I'll go for my man Piett humanising the Empire. The look on his face when the Falcon gets away, as he awaits the wrath of his Dark Lord Supervisor.

You'll find various icons underneath people's posts which represents various ranking options (the good ones are green, neutral is yellow, and bad is red, and each have various different options).

And that Piet moment is a great choice, by the way :)

@Angelman - Thanks for the tips there, appreciate it. Do you have to have a certain number of posts before you unlock these? All I see at the minute under someone's post is the option to quote or reply? I'm a bit slow hhaha.

Gotta love some Piett bless him

Ah... Yes, there might be a limit. Probably 30 posts, or something, to keep trolls and bots from swinging by to carpet bomb the place :)

When Boba says to Vader “As you wish”. I like how the original Boba voice says it, as it sounds almost like he’s saying it mockingly. Letting us know that this bounty hunter is one to be respected.

Also I like how Boba confronts Vader with “What if he doesn’t survive? He’s worth a lot to me.” Once again I like the original voice better with this line as it sounds more strong and a bit defiant.

The way Vader quickly replies that the Empire will pay Boba what he’s due regardless shows how much respect Boba commands. Even the most powerful terrifying figure In the galaxy respects him.

Also I like how Boba says “Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold.”
I may be overthinking this but the way he refers to Han as “captain”, tends to tell me that Boba has respect for him.

I believe it was the 2004 Special Editions.
I understand it was for canon continuity’s sake, since Boba is Jango’s clone you have to have Temuera Morrison’s voice for him — but the original voice (by Jason Wingreen) sounds better in my opinion. The line deliveries are better to me.
