When do you plan on subscribing to the online streaming service Disney+?

If that's the problem, that they have contracts with other streaming services, they should just bite the bullet and air the Mandalorian on Movistar or those respective services. I know it goes against their concept of The Mandalorian being a Disney+ exclusive, but they need to take a little ownership to a problem that they've created. That would be the best way to bridge this gap, save a little face, and keep customer relations at the highest levels.

I'm very excited for Disney+ and The Mandalorian, but everyone here not being able to see it at the same time does decrease the enjoyment somewhat.

It won't be long though, and it will be up and running everywhere. By the time we get the Obi-Wan series or a second season of The Mandalorian, we'll all be getting it at the same time. There will be many years of enjoyment after these initial growing pains.

At least we have The Rise of Skywalker. That should keep a few conversations going for a while.

    Look, I'm 100% anti-piracy, and I don't know all the streaming politics involved, BUT . . .

Given the nature of Star Wars fans and today's spoiler culture, do they really think European fans won't pirate Mando en masse?

I’m against piracy too. If you steal a product and enough people do it, not only do the people who made your beloved franchise, music, movie, and etc lose their livelyhood; but eventually if pirated enough there will be no future product.

I've never done the piracy thing. Well, not for movies. Well, not for recent movies. (Napster, anyone?? :D)

But I guarantee you that if Ep. IX was only available to a part of the world that I wasn't in, I'd eye-patch up in a second.

People are gonna pirate Mando regardless of release date circumstances. This just gives them more incentive to do so. That said, there maybe legal reasons why it's not a world wide release. I can't think of any other reason why it wouldn't be a world wide release.

Star Wars fans aren't going to wait months or longer to watch any kind of new SW content.. let alone a flagship TV show.

Disney haven't done this on purpose. we lose and they lose.
they had to get it up and running sooner rather than later.. they are behind the 8 ball with this kind of service already.

I will be finding a way to watch it next week. it's new Star Wars!

Yes, there will be piracy either way. But my point is this:

As somebody in the US who can see it on launch, I would never consider pirating Mando. I want to support content I love.

But if I lived overseas, and had to wait months to see it--and, as member of the fan community who would then most likely have the entire show spoiled for me? I would probably find a way to watch the show and then subscribe officially when it's available.

One of the better articles I found talking about the various aspects of the program:
    https://www.cnet.com/news/disney-pl...eorders-shows-movies-avengers-endgame-marvel/

I just found out that if you're in the US and have the Verizon Wireless' Unlimited package, you already get a free year of Disney+.

    And also from the article:

    When's the release date?
Disney Plus will launch Nov. 12 in the US, Canada and the Netherlands. It'll launch a week later, on Nov. 19, in Australia and New Zealand.

In advance of the official launch, Disney is offering Disney Plus free in the Netherlands for anyone to try. It'll switch to requiring a subscription on Nov. 12.

The launch of Disney Plus will come less than two weeks after Apple TV Plus rolls out.

Globally, Disney plans a progressive rollout worldwide over two years. The company provided a generalized timeline for when it'll expand the service to the world's major regions.

Disney Plus is slated to roll out in:

    • Western Europe over the course of six months between October this year and March of next year.
    • Eastern Europe over the course of a year starting as early as October 2020.
    • Latin America over the course of three months starting as early as October 2020.
    • Asia Pacific over the course of two years starting as early as October this year.

    Exactly!
It's what I thought! At least with this first season. Then, all new series could be in Disney+ for everyone.

Surely this other services would win new costumers by airing Mandalorian.

Is it still piracy if you purchase Disney+ as soon as it's available where you are and you didn't pay anything to see it earlier?

Are the Harmy Despecialized versions of The Original Trilogy piracy if you've already purchased the Original Trilogy multiple times, didn't pay for the Harmy versions, and will likely still buy the Original Trilogy again on new formats?

When I think piracy, I think of lost sales because people get a copy with no intention of ever seeing it any other way, and/or giving money to opportunists to support their activities.

i owned the VHS original boxed set. i consider Harmy my preservation copy as allowed by copyright.
as a librarian i know this is a very very very thin line, but also as a librarian, i am not toeing it. XD
