    All this trailer speculation and excitement has got me thinking that we are getting VERY close to some sort of reveal (cast, title, subject, anything!) on the first spinoff. The movie comes out in two years. TWO YEARS!

    Hell, when I was a young-un it took a whole three years for a Star Wars movie.

    So these guys must be pretty deep into it now. I've got to believe we're going to hear SOMETHING before the year is out.

    I think we will hear first official information during Star Wars celebration. With TFA trailer and SpinOff cast/story announcement

    I had been thinking the same thing for a while. The stand-alone film is flying so far under the radar that I'm sure the population at large doesn't even know it exists. In some ways, not many, I'm more excited about the first standalone than the ST. Well......maybe not, but I am excited.

    i've also been thinking about how far this must be in pre-production. if they follow the same schedule as TFA (which officially announced the cast at the end of April '14, began principal photography mid-May '14, for a release mid-December '15) that should put as at about casting time for the first spin-off this spring? my logic being that the first stand alone should release December '16, so wind the clock back about one year eight months and you end up in April '15, or there about. maybe a May 4th announcement? pretty stoked over here! :D

    With the buzz that's beginning to be generated for TFA - it seems like a good time to introduce the idea of the spinoffs because I agree with dudebrohomie that outside the nerd world NOBODY knows about this.

    This. Don't expect much, though - I'm guessing that you might get a title, a brief synopsis, and the cast at most. Maybe some kind of promotional image if they're feeling generous. Disney will want to put as much focus into selling The Force Awakens as possible, and trying to hype this movie too early would detract from that. Bits and pieces will come out, but by and large the focus of the Star Wars Hype Train will be the Episodes and not the Spin-Offs. As such, my guess is that the first official teaser for the movie will premiere with The Force Awakens itself.

    One of the GREAT -- as in tremendous -- advantages that Disney/LFL has with the new era is that TFA diverts all attention away from the other productions. No one is really prying and/or leaking info about the spinoffs or Episode VIII.

    Once Episode VII comes out it will be full-on attention on the other movies.

    If the movie needs the same amount of time to film as The Force Awakens (7-9 months, including hiatuses), and post-production takes a year or so, then the recent rumor that production for this movie and Episode VIII will overlap at some point makes a lot of sense.

    First post for me. Been lurking for awhile. I'm trying to stay away from ep. 7 rumors/spoilers. So I gravitate towards the spin off. That being said, I realize we know very little of what it's going to be about or who is actually even in it. Is Felicity even really casted at all? I know she was asked at the Oscars and dismissed it quickly for fear of her life. That makes me think she knows something. I know we are like a month away (give or take) from filming and no other casting has taken place. Now, I know we don't get the down low on every little thing that Disney/Lucasfilm does but I'm really looking forward to this one as well. These spin offs can really open up the Star Wars universe and we can have them placed during any time period. So much potential. I suppose I'm just itching for intel, ANY intel at this point.

    We got our first big plot rumor on TFA ~1.5 months into principal photography. Until then they're going to be able to hold their cards close to the chest.
    That said, the rumor bombshell today regarding the spinoff has got the gears turning in my mind. I'm intrigued.
