Right. That's why I was speaking to the allusion that the two scenarios are similar. They aren't.

Neither are plot holes and neither explicitly address the point raised because neither need to - that was the similarity.

    Cheers,

May I suggest the use of 'contrivance'.

Plot 'contrivances' would just be wonky plot mechanics that aren't ruled out by anything, but could be argued don't fit neatly into some perceived rules or seriousness of a film - like the time passing in Dark Knight Rises, and the insanely high level of success that the Joker has in predicting everybody's behavior and choices in The Dark Knight. They're not exactly 'holes', just stretch the imagination a bit.

A plot 'hole' could reduce a film's quality. A contrivance should be expected. As Hitchcock said, nobody calls the police because that would be dull. Too may contrivances can surely reduce a film's quality, of course.

Or maybe Finn will remember making the dishes in a secret compound where they develop anti lightspeed trackers.

But Rose having a vision during her coma is great too.

It's 'Chewie', not 'Chewy'. But I'm not gonna poke holes here. Good post. The movie (if you can even call it that) had some flaws. I, for one, am a big fan.

Actually it was stated that a tracker was placed on the Resistance flag ship, and that was the only ship they could track. It's not new tech. Are you forgetting the whole "they let us escape...they're tracking us... hopefully we'll figure out how to destroy the death star before they destroy the rebel base." moment in ANH.

It's not some new sensor technology.

I'm sorry but there is no mention of any tracking device on the resistance flag ship, perhaps you got confused when they talk about the FO lead ship?

    You're a selfish traitor.

    Look, we can't outrun
    the First Order fleet.

    We can jump to lightspeed!

    Well, they can track us
    through lightspeed.

    They can track us
    through lightspeed?

    Yeah.

    They'd just show up
    thirty seconds later

    and we'd have
    blown a ton of fuel,

    which, by the way,
    we're dangerously short on.

    They can track us
    through lightspeed.

    Yes. And they could...

    I can't feel my teeth.

What did you shoot me with?

    Active tracking.

    What now?

    Hyperspace tracking
    is new tech

but the principle must be the
    same as any active tracker.

    -They're only tracking us...
    -Only tracking us...

    BOTH: ...from the lead ship.

    But we can't get to
    the tracker.

    It's an A-class process,

    they'll control it
    from the main bridge.

    Well, I mean, yes,
    but every A-class process...

    BOTH: ...has a dedicated
    power breaker.

    But... Wait, but who knows
    where the breaker room

    is on a Star Destroyer?

    I'm the guy that
    used to mop it.

If I can get us there,

I can shut their tracker down.

    Just give it to me
    one more time, simpler.

    So, the First Order's
    only tracking us

    from one Destroyer,
    the lead one.

So we blow that one up?

    I like
where your head's at, but no.

    They'd only start tracking us
    from another Destroyer.

    ROSE: But if we can...

    If we sneak on board
    the lead Destroyer

    and disable the tracker

    without them realizing,
    then we can...

    They won't realize it's off
    for one system cycle.

    -About six minutes.
    -FINN: Sneak on board.

    Disable the tracker.

    Our fleet escapes
    before they realize.

    Also TFA had this:

GENERAL HUX: We have their location. We tracked their reconnaissance ship to the Ileenium system.

Doubtful they put a tracker on the reconnaissance ship.

No it is new data processing technology using a supercomputer.

All former janitors know about it.

If you ask a fiction writer why a character doesn’t do a particular thing and their response is “because then there’d be no story”, that might be an honest answer, but that doesn’t make it not a plot-hole. Having a hole in the plot doesn’t automatically make something bad writing. The question there is whether it’s severe enough to keep the audience from overlooking.

That’s not the same thing as identifying logical inconsistencies within a narrative. If you make a false equivalency your litmus for deciding validity, you’ll always prove yourself right.

What happened to Kylo Ren's wound on his torso ?

In that shirtless scene from TLJ there was no visible trace of that wound on his torso.
Given the fact that events in TLJ takes just a few days after TFA is it possible to heal a bow caster wound in such a short time ?

Has it healed completely ? or was it missed in TLJ ?

Has any one else noticed that wound on his torso ?

i didn't see the wound but i do remember thinking that his pants had a high waistline; perhaps it was covered?

then again, i've only seen the movie once so my memory probably isn't the most trustworthy...

i thought @YO-YO-YODA was talking about the bowcaster injury...

the chest slice is definitely there.

He’s wearing some pretty trendy high wasted pants. The wound could be lower.

That's my headcannon for his ridiculously high-waisted pants - to cover up the wound.
