Where is the evidence point to in regards to Luke? IIRC, didn't Viral Hide or someone else from this site claim to have seen a shot of Han, Luke and Kylo all in it? If someone has can anyone explain that possibly in spoiler tags? To me there seems to be contradictory info about Luke, if we are to believe the MSW ideals then he is only in for a quick flashback and last 2-5 minutes of the movie with little dialogue, personally I think Luke is in it more, then again I can be proven wrong.

It's not just Mark Hamill being held back from sight, Andy Serkis is also not around either and I'm sure he may be in the movie more than Lupita N'yongo is.

To me Disney would not be able to get away with it for this movie. They would get destroyed by critics and fans for having very little Luke screen time as it's been 32 years since we've seen Luke Skywalker on the screen, there must be a good reason why they are hiding BOTH Luke and Snoke, maybe I'm reading too much into it, but those are just my thoughts.

Given the hush hush on Luke I'd say the evidence points to minimal screen time. However, I'm confident no matter the screen time that one way or another it will be epic when we first see him.

I'm still wondering why we can't even see his face anywhere. I doesn't make any sense to hide his face even on the poster for no other reason than to create an vibe of 'seen Luke?'- that seems too milk-cartonish for him to appear as we last saw him, but older and with a beard. Why can't we see Luke? What's really up with that?

He does not show up until the end of the movie.

...and if you read up on the artbook spoilers, the reveal sounds really damn good.

Isn't that the same one that says Luke is covered in sand and he opens his eyes covered in Sand?

Minimal because they're going to kill him off in 8 or 9 and so they need to ease acceptance of the new characters first cos you can't at this point think Star Wars without Luke Skywalker can you?

There could be more than flashbacks and the ending, but still minimal. Like a holo-recording or something.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Mark Hamill emphasised that when he was on the Falcon set, he was there as himself, not Luke Skywalker.
The only time he appears to have even been able to be on the set with Harrison and Carrie, was right at the end after he shaved his beard (his beard was gone on the 31st of October, filming continued until the 6th of November).

Given everything we know about the movie and Mark Hamill's time away from the set, it's hard to imagine Luke showing up on Jakku, the giant freighter, Takodana, D'Qar, or Starkiller.

There's really just not a lot of space for Luke to show up during the movie, without cutting to scenes of him alone wherever he is.

The "evidence" suggests that Luke will not be much in the movie. I hope that it will be more than the flashback and end, but Disney and Lucasfilm have done their best to suggest otherwise.

Hi. Perhaps you can put your knowledge of every rumor and "leak" aside for a moment and think about that as a storyteller. There would be a suspense problem, if "our Luke we remember" is too present.
Then there is the difference between a book and a movie, in a book it could work out better, in a movie i think not so.

Superman does very much have the same problem on the big screen in relation to suspense. Now they are trying Doomsday.
Luke on the other hand, as a character, is capable of a change. Story-wise he is in need of that, i guess. There needs to be something at stake. I think that will make him more interesting and this could translates on the big screen to some little bit more suspense

    Kylo Ren: "Yes."

From the guy who has the artbook and posted the Snoke pictures (FYI, artbook is sitting shrink-wrapped at retailers right now).
FWIW, he says that the artbook contains virtually no plot spoilers whatsoever (including nothing about Han's death), only visuals:
    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=188874080&postcount=851

Reminds me very much of a performance I saw several years ago, "Songs of Wanderers."
It featured a Buddhist monk standing at one of the end of the stage with sand pouring down on his head. He was completely motionless (in deep meditation) throughout the entire ~1-2 hour performance. By the end, he was covered up to his waist in sand.

I don't know if that's your cup of tea, but it was quite memorable...

That is a real mystery indeed. Especially not showing him in the poster. If they wanted to lower people's expectations because he is barely in the movie(which I don't believe is true) they wouldn't have had him narrating the second trailer and appearing at comic con, d23, etc.
No, there is something else behind all this,
    It's something... elsewhere. Elusive.

Agree to disagree on that front. Having Luke's only appearance be in the final scene and that appearance consisting of him literally "waking" up (*shudders at how "on the nose" that is*) is one of my worst fears for this film realized.
