SPECULATION Where's Lando?

    Hi cantina.
    I'm new to the cantina and have seen very little discussion of a possible Lando role in the ST. For me, he was one of my favorites when he was introduced in ESB. From what I heard, Billy Dee Williams wasn't even approached to reprise role, especially he played such a major role on Endor destroying the Death Star. I'm curious if he would make an appearance in VIII. I would really like to see if he plays any role in the Resistance or if he just simply retired from the rebel fleet to continue his work in Bespin. I would like to see our new heroes to return to Bespin and see him in some great leadership role there. What do you think is Lando's fate!

    I've heard that he won't be in VII, but I suspect that if Han dies in this movie (which will be the catalyst to make him show up), that we'll see Lando in VIII and potentially even IX as well. ;)

    I remember a quote from Billy Dee Williams where he said he believes that Lando would make his appearance in the Second Film (VIII) matching his appearance in ESB. Now that could be an actor doing a "Hey! I'm up for it. Give me a call!" but he does seem to be a major omission and I expect him to have had a conversion with Kennedy and Lucas Film. Maybe too, between bringing back the old characters and introducing the new ones its just too overloaded and it made sense to roll him over to the next film. I think it's a good chance we will see Lando in VIII and perhaps IX.

    Also, Lawrence Kasden said to Vanity Fair earlier this year,
    "Right now, there’s no Lando Calrissian in this movie. But Lando I don’t think is finished in any way, shape, or form."

    If the rumors/whispers of the Resistance being separate from the New Republic are true (I've been staying away from the TV spots and TFA discussion pages), I could see Lando being involved in the New Republic. He's savvy (and occasionally responsible) enough to find a nice paying position and charismatic enough that people will follow him. It'd be a good way to show the NR, and while they might not be helpful, they aren't unsympathetic (and then they could use him as the voice to bring the NR into the war).

    I was gonna say running a Tibanna gas mine, caught up with supply problemns and labour difficulties, but I like the above speculation, he'd be great as a New Republic politician.

    I will be shocked if he didn't make a cameo appearance at Han's funeral, he apart from Chewie was one of his oldest friends, even if it giving a eulogy, it can't hurt for him to have a short scene. I hope he keeps up appearances in Rebels.

    Well, if Episode VIII really does feature the fall of the resistance, the survivors could go to him for shelter in IX, he could even have a cameo at the end of VIII offering shelter to Leia and the others

    I desperately want to see him again, cause Lando is one of my favourites

    But that would be totally ranom right? Because to have him suddenly show his face AFTER the fall of the resistance. Isn't making any sense to me.
