Hey guys, so what do you think? Out of all the characters on the show, who do you think has the most character development? Or like their story is the most complex?
I'll let you guys discuss in the comments below

My mind goes first to Kanan. He's now being written quite differently than he was at the outset of the show.

Upon more consideration, it *should* be Ezra, but it really isn't. (Though perhaps it will be the case in future episodes.)

I've quite enjoyed the development of Sabine's character in season three-- I suppose she'd be a very reasonable choice.

Zeb is warmer and mellower now. ...but overall I don't think his character has much going on...it's almost as if the writers don't know what to do with him(?)

Kallus has certainly changed gears a good deal, hasn't he?

And... I'm not sure how much she has developed, but I just love the subtle genius of Hera– I find her to be an incredibly excellent character... most fitting of the well-known (ROTJ) "Leia description of her mother".
It's Hera's "sad, but resolute" subtleness within her that I appreciate so much. ...Along with the way she's visually presented. I love that she's got a stereotypically female fantasy/sci-fi body...which is almost entirely covered by practical gear and clothing...because such style most suits her character. --And that's what I mean by "subtle". Great stuff.

(Edit- I can't believe I left out Maul.)

Kanan, definitely. He was cowboy Jedi who rushed into adventure. There was so much sarcasm in his role, cocky attitude was a given. I cannot forget this moment too:

The maturing of the character is enormous. He is not just a Jedi Knight now, he has bearing of a master. Compare his lessons with Ezra and him teaching Sabine.

He is almost a different person now. He is a bit sidelined in the second half of this season, I hope we get more from him in the next one.

Chopper has the most actual character and personality. Which is ironic, becaue he's a machine.

All the humanoid characters are very binary characters with very little actual character. They either have a very annoying super-positiveness and "goodie" character for the Rebels, or nasty and evil "baddie" character for the Empire. Totally black/white, chalk/cheese, yin/yan binary and over-simplistic character and story writing.

It's just a dumb 20 minute cartoon for kids shown on a kids tv cartoon channel afterall.

    ;)

Kanan, Sabine, Maul...all of them had character and depth.

    And then there's Ezra.
He's your basic shallow plot device lead. He makes Rey seem overly developed.

At least Ahsoka was *somewhat* interesting.

I like almost cried during Sabine's story. The music and everything is so well done. Its nice that we finally got more into her background. She's now one of my favorite out of the series

I'd have to agree with Kanan as most developed and Ezra as the weaker character. As the mentor Jarrus has definitely matured into his teacher role, but Ezra still acts the same cocky kid, but now with a shorter haircut.

The difficulty seems to be with the support characters, who swing into the fore and then quickly fall back again from one episode to the next... Zeb's role has seemed far less in S3, but when he is there he's still good. I'm not wholly convinced that Sabine's new forefront role suits her character, but rather her than the flat Hera and comedy droids, the latter of which I've found increasingly annoying as time has passed.

Honourable mention to Kallus... he just frustrated me in S1, but his arc to becoming Fulcrum Mk2 and the machinations of trying to remain hidden under Thrawn's nose have been well done.

    Well developed-
Sabine- Interesting character- while admirable, she does have allegiances outside the normal confines of the Rebel Alliance, which is actually pretty cool

Kallus- Probably the most dynamic character in the series

Hera- With all the bickering and sass that Star Wars is famous for, it's refreshing to have someone as warm and geniune as Hera, while still being a total badass (and babe ;))

Kanan- I really don't understand why people like Kanan so much. I guess his storyline has been pretty dynamic, but I also think it's kind of a tired one, too

    Underdeveloped-
Zeb- Yeah, outside of the few references to the Lasat, there just really doesn't seem to be a reason for Zeb- which is unfortunate, because going into the show, I was excited to learn about him

Ezra- Such a squandered opportunity. We've seen Ezra flirt with the dark side, but honestly haven't seen him do much of concern since early S3. Was that plotline entirely dropped? Because, if he was actually in danger of going dark, he might actually be an interesting character

I'd say Sabine has the most character development, though Kanan is probably my favorite. I think Sabine's the most developed, because we've found out more and more about her, her backstory, and her motivations as the show has progressed.
