If Kylo does not die, the skywalker saga can't really end. So I think by default he must die. In truth Rey must also be the one to kill him. This may make her conflicted, but if its true that Darth Palagius created anakin from more or less nothing, then ending the whole tree would be the only way to correct the error. I don't personally agree with this thinking as the children may suffer from the sins of the father but are not responsible for them.

Poe because he was slated to in TFA before Oscar Isaac asked for him to be kept around longer.

This being the final chapter in the final trilogy (as far as we know), I don’t think there’s any need for many characters do die. The final act is not where one usually increases tension by killing off main characters, the exception, of course, being villains defeated in the end and protagonists valiantly self-sacrificing themselves in the climax.

That said, I think Kylo is a gonner… either he’ll be defeated by Rey and/or turn to the light and sacrificing himself for the rest. Hux might die, but I can’t see a particularly good reason why, except as part of the expected general FO defeat at the end of the film. They MIGHT kill off Leia, for obvious reasons, but that’s a risky thing to do… Lando might go, since it is unlikely they’ll bring Billy Dee in for a potential new trilogy in about 10-15+ years. I don’t think Rey will die, since she will probably train the next generation of post-Jedi (unless she turns evil, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen now… if they’d go down that path, Rey should, structurally speaking, have turned at the climax of TLJ for maximum impact). Poe & Finn could sacrifice themselves, I guess, but… I don’t feel it at the moment… Perhaps Poe, since his arc doesn’t have many avenues forward now (he can become a leader and then his arc is basically completed)… Chewie, C3PO, R2D2 etc. will go on forever, since they are suits/props who can be played by whoever. The Millennium Falcon would be a traumatic sacrifice, and I have a stronger feeling for that than anything else right now… Oh, how I would cry…

None. Maybe Leia. Heroes don't really die in classic Star Wars.

A scenario where Kylo sacrifices himself to save Rey (and thereby indirectly “redeemed”, ala Vader in ROTJ) seems way too obvious.... but I do also think that’s what will likely happen

Count me among the few that feels Leia should not appear in E9, just in deference to Carrie... but obviously that’s not happening, so I can easily see her surviving the entire trilogy

Hux will likely die at the hands of Kylo, especially if he turns out to be the “traitor” to his reign - that one’s kinda a no-brainer too, IMO

Some of these seem awfully easy, but with all the talk of JJ making a film with lots of fan-service, sometime you just gotta go with the most logical I think
