So far we do know Rian Johnson will be directing a new trilogy for Star Wars, out of the Skywalker main episode saga and most probably not based on the characters from Knights of the Old Republic.

Which era would you like this trilogy to be situated at? Just for speculation, and which kind of stories would you like to see? A bounty hunter oriented story? Or a story based on the early times for the Jedi and the Sith?

Hummm....maybe during the creation of the first jedi temple in Ach Too, but I dont think RJ wants to explores the jedi anymore.
Or....maybe years after the stories told in ST.
Probably RJ will.come with something completly new. What is good to me.

preferably something so old or into the future it won't have any direct relation to the saga films

I'm voting for a between the PT / OT or OT / ST... Maybe between the OT / ST is more wishful thinking than anything though!

Personally I would prefer something more of post-ST, but I have a feeling they want this to remain a clean slate for awhile. Unless they went waayyyy into the future, where they don't need to necessarily worry about shoe-horning another trilogy in, should they ever decide on a X, XI, XII saga.

Precisely. Some time period which we have no connection to so that the slate for the story is as clean as possible. Or a geographical location so remote that the events taking place in this trilogy don't coincide with the rest of the galaxy.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm handing out porgs and Landos like they're going out of style. Anyway...

I would kind of like to see us go way back in time, to before there were Jedi and Sith. When there were Force users, but they were just figuring out how to live with FS or Force powers, and how to "govern" or arrange a way of life according to what they were discovering about the Force itself. That gives an opportunity to explore Force lore before it had any "rules" or "orders" to answer to yet.

But I'm pretty sure I'll be interested in whatever RJ serves up, whenever and wherever.

I'd like to see the new trilogy go 1000+ years into the future or the past. If you go far enough into the future, you don't necessarily limit the current timeline.

Fun nerdy idea: imply that the story is taking place long before the original Saga--until the characters discover an ancient artifact from the Empire or the Rebellion, and you realize "Oh crap, we're way way in the future. What happened?!"

More likely idea: the new trilogy will take place in one of the existing time periods, but somewhere far off, leaving the possibility of crossovers and such. Excuse me *cough* cro$$ove$ and $uch.

Far future or far past. My favorite story of 2017 was Horizon Zero Dawn. It showed how compelling a far future story could be without going full on dystopia. See something similar in Star Wars would be awesome.

That would be a very cool twist! One Lando awarded accordingly =)

Reminds me a bit of the extended ending of the newer/reimagined Battlestar Galactica television series -- and the relevant mantra from that series being "All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again."

As for my chronological preference for the RJT (Rian Johnson Trilogy), I would prefer older, before the Darkness and the Light, long before the Jedi and the Sith, perhaps beginning with a Star Wars-styled creation story of the Force, with the first Force user (not necessarily the so-called "Prime Jedi").

Looking forward to whatever they do!

My only big thing I do not want to see is a Dark Side user faction. Let's branch out. So far past or future and get away from that old song and dance.

I expect it to take place in a time after the sequel trilogy concludes, with an experiment to launch a trilogy completely disconnected to the I - IX saga.

But also look for Disney to announce Episode X not long after Episode IX has ended its full product cycle. And look for Episode X - XII to connect loosely to Rian's work in this other trilogy.

I think Disney recognizes the clever mingling of threads, stories and properties and scattering your story across multiple channels and elements.

But I also think Episode X could rock the box office if handled well and the timing was clever. Rock it. So the fact that opportunity exists means I believe Disney explores that option regardless of how Rian's "tangent trilogy" pans out. And I believe the two arcs will connect together.

It's the anthology series I'm not sure about, I think "going backwards" isn't a box office win for Star Wars, people are much more eager to see what happens next, rather than augmenting and rehashing what has come before.

I would like to see multiple old school sith/sith army. I would also like to see a female sith antagonist. Perhaps when the dark jedi we're first exiled from the galaxy.

I actually voted for "before the PT" AND "Between the OT and the ST" each with reasons:

Before The PT: I want to see Jedi dammit, JEDI!! :)

Between the OT and ST: I want to see the disintegration of the Empire and how the Rebellion did it, Like The Battle of Jakku. I want to hear the whispers of the mythical and legendary Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker.

A sith army has to naturally have a jedi army to fight, The thing is with me is that we've already seen multiple jedi in the PT. We have yet to see the sith pre Bane rule of two era.

I don't think timeline is that important to me - it can happen at any time if it's happening in a place of the galaxy we never saw before (or Wild Space or Unknown Regions or...) and stay unconnected to the events of the Saga. I am way more interested in the story - new peoples, new characters, maybe new Force schools. I wouldn't mind if they start with the small, localized conflict perhaps on the single planet which grows with every film (characters have to leave for whatever reason), then culminating in something grand. The appeal of this trilogy is that we have no idea where Rian can take it - we only have what we know from the Saga and the old EU. He can drop something completely different on us. We just don't know. And that's great.

I can image something pre-PT, like a Dawn of the Jedi featuring the establishing of the First Temple

My vote is for after the sequel trilogy. Give creators more to work with and less limitations. By doing prequels, you are more obligated to tie in essential plot points from the PT, OT, and ST. In the future, it's easier to distance the story from the Skywalkers' story.
Seems to be the most likely option.
I can see Disney saving the time between the OT and ST for TV spots.
