Brother, I can't take the Vong. To me the Vong were such a departure from what we know of the GFFA that it was REALLY hard for me to read, and I had to absolutely force myself to read. To me, the invention of the Vong in the SWU seemed like a mixture of SW and Alien, and was kind of contrived because someone needed a quick idea for a book, and I kept asking "WTF??" through the whole thing...and I'll probably never read it again.

    I just can't.

Give me something like "Outbound Flight" set before the PT maybe 500-1000 years that ended up being a "never-to-be-solved by the Jedi event" that went into the Jedi Archives as a cold case.

I'll admit it publicly - I never actually READ the Yuuzhan Vong story. It just seems like it could be interesting (the imagry) though I will admit that it IS INDEED quite unique (living beings for spaceships and sh##), visually in my case. From what I DO know about the story, The Vong we're near impossible to defeat and they seemed to me to be not only very unique but also a very admirable foe. Anyway - just a thought. :)

Yes you're right, Mace is my favorite Jedi beside OB1 so I always turn to him, but any new Jedi Master would do, just using Mace as an example.

King, Emperor, or Dictator, he had both sides at the tip of his fingers, Yin and Yang. A wise Leader who understood how both forces can be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent.

This IMO is the most intriguing era. Ulic Qel-Droma and the sith war 3996 years BBY.

There is only one thing in Star Wars which I truly hated: it was the Vong. :p

But I do like the idea of an extra galactic threat to all we know and love about Star Wars. I just don't like the idea and aesthetics of the Vong. A different extra-galactic threat would be awesome though!

I loved everything about it - the ancient asthetic. loved this ship to. It would be crazy to see the visual style of this era on screen.

Looks like most people, including me, want some Old Republic action. A big part of that is we want history. Look, I'm often one of the first to defend axing the EU for numerous reasons, but I can't deny the fact that when that happened we lost thousands of years of Star Wars History. I wouldn't mind getting some of that back, or getting new History. Jedi Crusaders, Malachor, the Old Republic (which apparently was distinct from the Republic seen in the prequels), Mandalorian Wars, a Sith Empire........ all that has been aluded to. Add to that new canon like Mortis, the Zygerrian Empire, etc...... there's stuff to work with.

But isn't The Old Republic era indirectly canon because of The Old Republic MMORPG? Does anyone know?

I'm not entirely sure to be honest, and to a certain point, I'm not sure anyone else is sure either. My understanding is that once the EU to Legends conversion went into effect, BioWare decided that since their stuff was Legends now anyway, they were going to do whatever the F____ they wanted and brought in the Eternal Empire. In a way, there's still room to connect to what has been canonically established about that era, since there's no longer a need to tie it to what was established in the EU.

I voted for During the Prequels and The Old Republic. As much as many people despise the Prequels i've always been a Prequelist. I love bits and pieces from all Eras. I am not without my criticisms, though. The Prequel Era has a lot of stories to tell though I suspect its more likely to be an Old Republic trilogy or one during or after the OT Era (between ROTJ and TFA). I think that all of the characters will be new. I don't necessarily thing any of the events that take place will affect the Saga films at all. I want it to be self-contained but still have small call-outs. I think we need bigger connections to non film canon material as well. They say its all connected but only make small mentions or nods to things that happened outside of the films.

I voted for The Old Republic, There is so much story potential there that wouldn't effect any of the other movies no matter what they did with it. Imagine brand new Star Wars stories untainted by the Skywalker era. Aside from maybe bringing in Legends characters like Darth Revan It would be all new characters to get to know and love (or hate). Everything in an Old Republic era trilogy would feel new and different from what we have seen before.

I get that, but I think that's kind of the point- in a universe with species as familiar as human coexisting with things as bizarre as Hohass Ekwesh or B'omarr monks, you really have to go off the grid to make something feel "alien" in what is essentially an alien invasion storyline. Plus, by removing them from the Force, the feel even more like "outsiders", beyond the laws of what we understood about reality in the Star Wars universe and more than a match for our Jedi heroes.

Was it good? Meh, in my opinion it still had some glaring issues. I'm just saying that I think I understand at least what they were trying to do.

Old Republic, I really want some lore prior to the prequels, but it'll never happen.

Most ideally I would like to see KOTOR become a trilogy. Or at least Old Republic era with both a huge Jedi/Sith temple and a lot of Force users. Also they should explore the origin of both factions or the training of both Sith/Jedi. Growing up with two force users both on the other side for instance.

But getting a lot of Force users might be tricky because people might expect that for the future movies to.

Hmmmm. I don't know about that one. It just may. In light of the new Legends characters they are bringing to canon, their is a good chance IMO.

i voted for after the ST.

whilst i would literally kill to have a live action trilogy based on the Old Republic... i imagine that within weeks of starting to write TLJ, Rian Johnson threw his arms up in the air and screamed that he'd love to make some star wars films outside of the confinement of Canon (and ex-canon).

i wanted episode 8 to be fresh and challenging, and RJ certainly did that. I'd like him to go a step further outside the box and give us something completely new and unrelated to the events in the known part of the galaxy.
