VIII definitely. Not just for the gorgeous scenery on Crait and Ahch-to, but the way the characters are shot. You have Adam Driver and his amazing inflatable lips, and then there's that shot of Leia looking sideways over the high collar of her robe. It's a beautiful piece of work.

The choices made with the lighting of characters is brilliant too.
I need to watch again to be 100% sure, but each time the story is told of what happened between Luke and Kylo it's lit differently to give you a different feeling about it.

I voted for TFA for now because the photography was amazing.

But TLJ is fantastic too, but I've just watched twice.

Some of the best stills frrom TFA:

I have to say TFA. The desert, the beautiful forest, the snowy forest...It's the best looking SW movie in my book. The light/dark, warm/cold, fertile/sterile contrast is simply amazing in TFA.

The Last Jedi is more visual, but TFA should still be proud of its own nature. Rogue One is less visual, but then Rogue One has the plot to make up for the deficit of visual

This was actually trickier than i thought. Both of them are very good looking, and it's kind of hard to compare them in some aspects. I really appreciate the planets TFA gave us, and the lightsaber fight in the snow is probably the coolest looking lightsaber duel in the saga. But I think TLJ in general impressed me more often with beautiful shots. I vote VIII, but I think i need to see it one more time to be certain.

There's a spareness to TFA that I find very appealing; TLJ feels a little over-stuffed at times. Also, lightsabers in the snow.

This is kind of tough! In terms of environments, TFA likely makes better use of the natural environment to create drama (Rey alone in the desert under the AT-AT, TIE fighters in the sunset, lightsabers in the snow, etc.), but TLJ has richer action scenes and creatures (the opening space battle, porgs, fathiers, caretakers, the milk creature, those aliens cloaked in black in Snoke’s chamber, Snoke himself, the Crait sequence). TLJ universe is just more filled with life and dramatic situations in general. I hate giving answers like this, but neither film is more visually stunning, they are both beautiful and captivating in their own unique ways.

I just noticed them this night in my 3rd viewing? Do we have a clear picture of these two?

Wow. I liked them. Its a shame that we cant barely see them during the scenes in the throne Room. Thanks.

Very well said. Though I love both movies equally much, TFA has some stunning visual moments. Less is more. TLJ has some as well, Snoke's throne room, the island and not to forget Crait.

I voted TFA for a lot of the same reasons @Messi did. Though VIII did have some great shots too

I really love the aesthetic of The Last Jedi, so I voted for that, but The Force Awakens is a really beautiful film, too. The cinematography in both films is absolutely gorgeous—definitely one of the many highlights of the Sequel Trilogy!

TFA looks great, but TLJ beats it IMO. Both are top class, though.

Both are excellent. TLJ wins it for me purely for everything shot inside Snoke's throne room. I just though that whole sequence was incredible.
