    Greetings to all!

Before the release of any Star Wars movie, there are all kinds of rumors and predictions of things that will happen. Sometimes these do end up happening; sometimes they don't. In Rogue One's case, for example, it was long speculated that Tarkin would have a role, and this turned out true. There was also a rumor going around that Disney watered down a Vader scene where he attacked a Rebel encampment at night, but this wasn't in the movie.

So what rumors did you hear, or what predictions did you make, that either ended up happening or were nowhere to be found?

The thing I predicted and sadly became true was that all members of the cast would die.

I predicted that Vader wasn't going to be in this film a lot. One dialogue scene, and then one additional scene at the end where he wrecks some Rebels. I know some people were upset by the lack of Vader, but I don't think that was the point. He was like the Tyrannosaurus from Jurassic Park: a little goes a long way. And what we got was fantastic. I'm not sure a scene of Vader attacking an encampment was appropriate for the film. That's something for a Vader-centric movie. This wasn't a Vader-centric movie. That said: I'm perfectly okay with getting a Vader-centric movie.

I correctly predicted that the team objective of stealing the Death Star plans would succeed. I now look forward to watching A New Hope to see what happens with the plans....

Though I had high hopes of maybe one or two RO team members surviving, I did think there was a high chance of all of them dying and this was true. The thing I was greatly wrong and happily so was that after seeing what they did with Rey, I feared that Jyn might also end up being a Mary Sue. How wrong I was and I'm really glad for it as I really loved how realistic and human Jyn was.

I think you and I are forever and always going to disagree on Rey's Mary Sue status, but I agree with you that Jyn is definitely not. Although I will point out that some people could argue that Jyn is a Mary Sue because she checks off the "beautiful, tragic death because she is too good for this world" requirement.

To me, the Rey question won't be settled until the story gives an explanation for her ability. If it boils down to, "she's just that awesome" or an explanation that is really out-there in the context of the setting, I'll gladly call shenanigans.

That's cool my friend and believe me when I tell you that though Rey was indeed a Mary Sue, as you said, I would be real happy if they at least gave a reason on why this was so. I do hope they give a logical one though and not just a ''she was born with great powers'' or worst the ''she's Anakin reincarnated'' cause that would be messed up.

I predicted everyone would die...and they did which to me is not that shocking considering A New Hope but people seem surprised.

MY prediction on that is Snoke assisted Plagueis in creating Anakin and got a face full of Force lightening for his trouble. They have said time and again Snoke is not a Sith. I'm betting the Alchemy is taxing or needed something rare or almost impossible to find to try again, but Snoke found it in the outer rim and tried again- this time influencing the Force to create Rey.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As to R1 predictions. I hoped beyond hope it wouldn't suck and it didn't! First SW movie I loved since I saw RotJ at 10 years old. Back when Disney bought Lucasfilm i predicted that it would be much like the Marvel movies- some will be stinkers but we will get a few great movies out of it, and i will just add those to my collection.

I hoped they would work Tarkin in. I figured we were only going to get the initial shot they did include- showing him from behind or reflection in the glass as he spoke, etc. So what we got totally blew me away and exceeded expectations.

I said Vader wouldn't kill Krennic.

I predicted that 'Rogue Squadron' in ESB is named after this crew/ their sacrifices/ these events.

I figured they would have a scene of Vader curb-stomping a bunch of Rebels and i was not disappointed.

I WAS surprised they killed everyone. Pretty ballsy and I thought it was great.

I was also surprised that we saw Leia.

I loved K2's badassery. That's how I always pictured IG-88 or any murderous droid to be really. There is a reason why Restraining Bolts exist. That, and Lucas lifted the idea of the 'Butlerian Jihad' from the Dune mythos and why this very old society had analog systems.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Star wars Rebels easter eggs. Loved it. Would have really loved to have seen a shot of Hera checking in from the cockpit of the Ghost or Sato
EDIT: Well we know now why Sato didn't appear :(
    but what can you do?

I have no issues with this movie even after 3 viewings. Considering what a critical, anal retentive bastard I am, especially when it comes to Star Wars, this is a minor miracle of modern day film making. xD

From knowing the name of the movie I was thinking it will be the name of the mission.

and Darth Vader anger in ANH was about how in his face the Rebels stole the prints of the Death Star in R1....Remember his face when he see the ship of Princess Leia taking off when he chase the rebels down....he was like

Now I understand better his anger in ANH....:).

I predicted that Vader, with Disney in charge, would be better blended with Anakin. His personality is gone, yes, but Rebels proves he's still the best starpilot in the galaxy, and Rogue One, with the Devastator jumping into battle out of hyperspace, proved he still had the tactical tenacity and ferociousness of Anakin during the Clone Wars, and Lords of the Sith and comics that when alone, he allows his past as Anakin to both haunt and hone him into the tool of destruction that he is now.

    Mmm let's see.

I think mine were not predictions, were actually hopes and wishes.

I had the feeling all the main team would die. (I didn't want it to happen, but I sort of expected this. I thought it would make more poignant their mission and what they accomplished for the OT).

I thought Artoo and Threepio would make an appearance.

I wanted at the end to have a glimpse of a white hooded young woman walking towards the Tantive IV, while her adoptive father says good-bye and we see the ship leaving Alderaan - which would have been such a poetic thing, to see the ship that took her there as a newborn to be the same one that took her out of there before Alderaan's destruction. (Well, this didn't actually happen onscreen, but in my headcanon it did happen LOL).

I wished Vader appeared and he would be killing Rebels left and right. (YES!)

    Amen to that!

Some people - looking at you, ScreenJunkies!! - are nitpicking into the fact that how on the galaxy Vader was so menacing and killed Rebels with his lightsaber in a really awesome way and then on the next movie his fight with Kenobi is nothing like it. Well, I do not mind that as much since in Rogue One he was just facing non-FS rebels, whereas in ANH he was facing his old master who cut his legs, arm and left him burning in Mustafar.

I was hoping this would happen (dark as it sounds!), and I have to say, I was quite surprised when it did. I thought surely they would keep one or two of the people alive (like Dave Filoni always does... :p *ahem*), but nope!

Yeah, I was expecting them to show up, but I wasn't expecting Yavin IV! I was expecting the Tantive IV at the end.

It would have been pretty cool to see a young woman Leia with Jimmy Smits.

You know what's funny? I was the holdout. Everyone I talked to was like, "YEAH, I HOPE WE SEE VADER KILL SOME DUDES," and I was like, "They're not gonna do it, guys. He was slow in A New Hope and this isn't a Vader-centered movie." But they did it!

The way I look at it, neither Vader nor Kenobi were trying to give the fight all they had in A New Hope. Kenobi was distracting Vader so Han, Luke, Leia, Chewie, and the droids could escape, while Vader was being cautious to see how Obi Wan would play his hand.

As we saw in Rebels, when two well train swordsmen duel it truly doesn't last long. Much like in the Kurosawa films and real sword fights, they are usually seconds long not minutes.

If either had engaged they ran the risk of immediate death. Neither wanted that. Vader knows Obi Wan's capabilities. And Ben knows he's older and likely to lose a direct attack.

They feel each other out until the right time. Ben knows what is best. Let's it happen. And the rest is history.

Exactly! That's why I felt the comment from the Honest Trailer was nitpicking waaaay over the top. (And don't get me wrong, I do enjoy their trailers and I do know they have to do nitpicking to make the stuff funny but this felt like a fanboy rant LOL).
