Which trilogy or partial trilogy is your favorite so far?

Im an OT guy, but I can appreciate the other films as well. I will say ANH, TESB, ROTJ, R1, TFA, TPM, ROTS, AOTC.

 

Since we haven't got the complete ST yet I'll go OT as well. It first got me into this franchise, always best to stay with that.

 

For me it would be: OT > PT > ST.

I grew up on the OT and became invested in the franchise during the PT - so those two will always be my fave trilogies because of nostalgia.

Rank the films? That's hard! OK, here goes: ROTJ > TESB > ANH > TPM > ROTS > AOTC & TFA > RO.

 

ST. By far. Its TFA then all else. With the slight distinction called esb.

Hard for me to decide sinse I love both the OT and the PT just as much but for funs sake I would say OT and then the PT. I really can't say much about the ST sinse so far I was not impressed with TFA. I do have hopes that the ST will move away from rehash and nostalgia feed territory and turn into something cool and more original.

 

Original > Sequel > Prequel.

It's hard to rank the Sequel Trilogy among the other two right now because we've only seen one film from it, but I've already fallen in love with the new characters and it's reminded me why I loved the old characters, too. As a kid, I loved the prequels, and I still do because they're Star Wars films, but I'm also older and more aware of their flaws now, and I don't connect with all of the characters the same way I do with the Original and Sequel Trilogies.

That being said, the Original Trilogy is what made me the fan I am. The prequels don't top it and, while I have more confidence in the sequels, I still don't think they'll be able to touch the Original Trilogy. I love every trilogy for different reasons, but I think the Original Trilogy will always be #1.

 

i optimistically chose the ST in the poll, but like Trev, the OT will always hold a special well-nigh unrankable place in my heart.

 

For me, havin' grown up in/ with the OT, I'm gonna be diff'rent an' say favorite (at this moment in time) is ST 'coz its Stories we Don't yet know all of.

Prequel and Original Trilogies.

I'd say OT. I like TFA, but I don't think we've seen nearly enough of the ST to really say its our favorite yet.

Prequels are a guilty pleasure of mine, but they aren't my favorites.

 

Well, of course OT, but it's at an unfair advantage anyway, you can't really beat Empire ..
I so wanted to like the prequels, but as movies they just kinda ... suck ..

OT>PT

Although I love TFA, we really have not seen enough of the ST to properly rank it. I really think the ST has the potential to take the #2 spot, after the OT. It is hard for me to say any more than that at this time, until TLJ and E9 come out. Even then, I will probably need a few years to really know how I feel.

 

1. PT
I have a very special connection to those movies. Episode 1 and 3 in particular.

Episode 1 being the first SW movie I've ever seen and one of my first two movies I ever watched (Jurassic Park being the other one ).
And Episode 3 being the first SW movie I've seen in cinema and witnessing the hype around it before its release.
-Talking about "what could happen" in school with friends.
-Collecting stickers for the panini scrapbook.
-Watching Ep.1 +2 and 4-6 countless times spotting some things that might be cleared up.
-Playing the RotS PS2 Game
....
What an amazing time it was.

2. OT

Classics.

After watching TPM countless times I asked my father if there are sequels and he bought me the OT. It was weird at first, because the movies felt completely different.
It also confussed the hell out of me why these movies were called episode 4-6. It took my father a few minutes to explain me this beautiful "mess".

Overall everything felt scaled down , but still Star Wars.
Episode 4+5 are to this day my favorite movies of the saga with Episode 3.

Hard to judge, because we only saw 1/3 of it .
All I can say is that I had negative bias against it from the moment I saw the marketing machine rolling.
Everything felt like a shot against the part of SW that made me love the series. Selling wrong facts like going back to practical sets, almost pretending the PT never used real sets, models, real locationes etc....(There you go http://boards.theforce.net/threads/...e-prequels-sets-pictures-models-etc.50017310/ )

Then seeing the first teaser trailer and people responding with "real Star Wars is back", "Blast Lucas and his prequels"........... everything felt like a big f.u to the PT and George Lucas, at least in my mind.

At one point I even wanted this movie to fail.
Imagine that, wanting a new movie in your favorite Franchise doing bad, because some idiots (collider, SJ......) on the internet talk blast (imo) all day long.

At the end I went into TFA and I didnt dislike the movie, but I left the movie not as entertained as I was 10 years earlier when I watched RotS for the first time.
I also felt like I watched the movie before with other characters and worse VFX.......

Over time I started to appreciate the movie for what it is, I really like it now tbh.
But I still dont love it like the other 6, but its prob. a better movie than 1+2 was.

Now I am looking forward to Episode 8 in a much more positive way.

I also wanna mention that everything feels more connected now. Some idiots are still talking trash, but overall the
atmosphere is more friendly than before.

I don't really think of the films, in terms of separate trilogies. Most have a lot of moments I love, and very few I hate.

 

I love the OT but everybody knows that it'll win the pool nonetheless so... I voted for the PT. With all its cons and pros I love it nearly as the OT so I couldn't leave it there.

As for ranking of the movies goes, it changes but generally I'd say it's:

1) ANH and TESB
2) ROTJ and ROTS
3) TPM
4)AOTC
5)RO
6) TFA

I included Rogue One because... yes.
