Who Are The Knights Of Ren?

I believe they were the handful of students Luke spoke of when he said Ben Solo took some and killed the rest. Where are they now? I bet a book or JJ will answer that question.

 

Snoke, Phasma and the Praetorian guards are dead.

They're running out of variant stormtrooopers to pimp out.

Hux isn't a physical threat.

That only leaves Kylo as a physical threat.

We know now that they're Luke's ex student survivors that left with Kylo.

I'm optimistic that they'll be major bad guys for Episode IX.

I think they're the students that left with Ben when he burned down Luke's Jedi Summer camp. Where are they now? Are they commanding FO forces (the way Jedi were embedded in TCW)? Are they in hiding as a hedge against Snoke? It would be nice to see and learn about them in Episode 9.

Other threads seem to think that there will be a significant amount of time that passes between episode 8 and episode 9. That's a lot of time to "build up" their characters into something great for the next movie.

 

I'm curious if there's going to be a 5-6 year time jump with the next film focusing on the new generation of Jedi vs. Kylo and the Knights of Ren. The only problem here is that it's difficult to do that because there's already a stable of characters that demand screen time. It would almost be better for the story if it turns out that Finn is force sensitive.

 

They're Kylo's dance group. Seen that half naked Kylo scene? He just returned from the disco (located underneath the Snoke's throne room, they've got really cool place down there and sometimes they even dance with Snoke in his throne room) where they rule with an unlimited power. That's why you don't see them much, they're too busy perfecting their moves (currently working on a brand new and groundbreaking, perhaps more like a bonebreaking, show). Only Kylo is so good that he's got enough time for something else. But don't worry, once they're done with that new show they'll appear somewhere.

Yeah, wasted potential as of now. Hopefully they'll really appear in IX. Snoke gone, Praetorian guards as well, the rest of the FO is mostly a joke, so there's a good opportunity to finally do something here... At least TLJ hinted at those Luke's ex-students.

Unfortunately we have to understand that JJs mystery box form of filmmaking is about creating a mystery. He had no idea who the KOR are. Rian cleverly didn't take the bait, and took the story and threw it over a cliff like Luke and Anakin's lightsaber. I expect JJ will add additional layers to the box, but don't expect a satisfying answer from him.

 

Spoiler: KOR

The Knights of Ren are most likely the apprentices who joined Kylo after he rebelled against Luke. Abrams is going to provide more depth to the Knights of Ren. They are now not only Kylo's enforcers, but those of the FO in general now that Kylo has taken command. I dare place a bet that their head quarters is in that old abandoned castle on Mustafar. The place where this trilogy, all of it will likely end

Kylo commands them, he is the "Master of the Knights of Ren". They're his followers, obeying his commands.

 

I think we're finally going to see them in action in the next movie, I'm really curious where they've been for two movies though.

 

JJ once said that he wants to see a spin off featuring the KOR. This was before he came back as a director. Now he can fulfill his own wish and use them in IX. It would be a very smart move to use them. We need some bad guys, especially if they want to redeem Kylo Ren.

 

Could they(or some) have been Snokes guards

Could they (the writers) just been lazy and forget to tell us they were Snoke's guards? I hope not and would love to see them in the next movie kicking ass. I hope they become a big part of the next storyline but who knows.

 

Something that fans obsessed over, insisted would play a central part in TLJ, but have largely been thrown away and forgotten, because it sounds too much like Monty Python every time you say it.

Kylo wanted to take over the First Order, needed Rey's help to do it and is now on a course to rule the galaxy entire. Knights of Who? Who cares, that was a throw away line by Snoke in TFA that no longer matters, at all. Mercifully all the Plagueis theories are dead too.

 

I'm pretty sure Snoke still ultimately had authority over the KOR, despite himself calling Kylo their master, which leads me to suspect they may have become the Praetorian guard, which would mean there will be no more of them to learn about, barring flashbacks. Or, they just haven't factored into the main story yet, and they'll almost certainly replace the PG now that Ren has usurped Snoke, and we'll see more in ep9. I'd prefer the latter. Unless Phasma survived, her hype has not measured up and won't have a chance to, I'd hate to see more characters we were led to be excited about also be a bust.
