SPECULATION Who dies?

If this includes Episode 9 too I think Luke and Snoke both eat it.

And Leia.

Who dies in TLJ:

Luke because I want to see him as a force ghost in IX

Leia because I dont think they will use a entire CGI character for IX. They did with Tarkin and young Leia but I dont think they will do it this time.

 

I don't know why, but lately I got the feeling that Kylo Ren won't make it past VIII.

 

I would probably say none of the above, but if I had to pick one I would tend to think that Leia is the most likely to die. Leia dying in TLJ would obviously be a result of Carrie Fisher's unfortunate and untimely death, and LFL choosing not to recast her or use a CGI Leia for Episode 9. Other than that I definitely expect a lot of side characters to die in Episode 8 as well.

 

I fear Leia will due to obvious and sad reasons.

 

I hope not. I would like to see Kylo the main villain of this new trilogy.

 

Other - Alot of stormtroopers, maybe Liberty and possibly one Porg.

 

In fact, so do I but I have this strange intuition that he is not going to make it. I believe it will be between Kylo and Snoke : either Kylo will kill Snoke or Snoke betrays Kylo and kills him. Maybe Kylo is overwhelmed by the Praetorian guards and the last scene between Rey and Leia is about Rey telling Leia about Kylo's death ?

But I agree, I would prefer Kylo Ren becoming the main villain.

 

I almost feel like either Rose or DJ will die, to give a lot more weight to Finn's side of things. He lookes livid in that shot with Phasma- maybe just the intensity of the moment, but maybe something else, too.

 

I'm not really sure anyone dies in this film. After all, not one really died in Empire, though we weren't real sure about Han at the time. I would agree that I think the resistance and the republic are not in good shape when the film ends. I think Kylo is not in a good place when the movie ends, relative to where he begins the movie. I do not believe Luke dies in this film. If I had to guess, and seeing that we have footage of Luke on the falcon, and footage of the falcon later in the film, that Luke leaves with Chewie and likely Rey. That whatever Rey's plan is does not work. Rey obviously confronts Snoke at some point and that does not go well. She must then be rescued, again, lol, because Ridley stated the end of the film is Rey and Leia.

If Luke dies, its freeing Rey, but this is problematic as I don't think either Kylo or Rey is powerful enough to kill Snoke. One of the reasons I think Luke lives, but I could be wrong. If Luke dies, he dies saving Rey, that is how all Jedi die, they do it so that Rey never turns, see Obi-Wan in 1,and Luke in 4.

Here's a twist, Kylo realizes that his father was right, Kylo frees Rey, turning on Snoke, and not quite able to join Luke or the resistance, leaving himself in an unknown place for IX.

 

I think having Han die in TFA has had an impact. I doubt anyone will in TLJ, major characters anyway. Lea may between VIII and IX but they may want to imitate RL and honor her by keeping her character alive. Her absence in IX would have to be explained. Honestly, I have no clue..... zero..... nada

 

Unfortunately, I have a really bad feeling about Luke being killed off in TLJ. I had this feeling about Luke after HS was killed in TFA. Yes, he could return as a Force ghost but I don't know if it would be the same as him surviving. This is supposed to be a trilogy for the new characters and Luke would overshadow any of these new characters. This is why I think that each of the Big 3 were always meant to meet their demise in each film. I hope I'm wrong but it is a gut feeling.

 

I believe at least one, but more probably 2, of the OT characters will die in TLJ, while I'm sure that Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo will surely survive.

The 2 most obvious choices in my opinion are Luke and Leia. But I still believe that at least one of them was supposed to make it alive to Ep IX (even if with Carrie passing if it was Leia that was meant to survive VIII we still won't get to have her in "ROTJJ"...). So I'm worried about Chewbacca and also for one of the droids, with R2-D2 the one that I see more in danger, especially if Luke is the other one of the OT characters who bite it.
