He didn't know his secret to cheating death. He never said he didn't know how to create life.

There is more evidence that Palpatine had a hand in the creation of Anakin than a "virgin birth". In your previous post you speculated that Shmi's importance or bloodline had to have some meaning for the force to choose her. That is purely your own thoughts backed up by nothing in canon. We may never get hard evidence that Palpatine had a hand in creating Anakin, but there is implied evidence which is what makes this intriguing. People need to understand that Shmi was a throwaway character meant to advance Anakin's story. She was someone Anakin could have an attachment to and help facilitate his fall.

I disagree. That is like saying that Mary, the Mother of Jesus is unimportant in and of herself, which goes against what I believe. I do not put the kind of worshipful emphasis on Mary that many other people of faith and various religions do, but I do believe that there were specific - and special - things about her that caused God to choose her to fulfill the role that she did.... and view Shmi in a similar vein.

Episode IX will be about sacrifice and resurrection => a rise after death.
Kylo Ren sacrifices him and dies, only to get resurrected and to rise as Ben Solo, the last Skywalker => The Rise Of Skywalker

Easy and simple, how Star Wars movie should be.

I would like the title to be the rise of the Skywalker side in Kylo, and the resurrection of Ben Solo.

We have to remember that Kylo Ren was a product of Snoke. "It was Snoke" -Leia. With Snoke dead, Kylo should now be free to pursue his own path, and as his grandfather before him, there must still be good in him, and he can still do the right thing. He hated Luke in TLJ, but didn't Darth Vader "hated Luke?". Wasn't Darth Vader equally obsessed with Luke, as well? Is that any different? Kylo Ren/Ben Solo was trained by Luke, and he is the son of Leia, so he is a Skywalker, if not by title, then by both blood and training. The Rise of Skywalker also aludes to transformation, the birth, or resurrection. So, while Kylo Ren/Ben Solo did not have the Skywalker title, he "cannot deny the truth that is [his] family"-Lor San Tekka.

I think IX will celebrate the complete victory of Skywalker over the Sith, and the Dark side in general, and the prophecy will finally be fulfilled. "I will finish what you started"-Kylo Ren, about Darth Vader/Anakin. And he would. He did kill Snoke, and with that there shouldn't be many more big dark siders of that calibre left alive. Well... except Palpatine, perhaps, who may still have a word to say.

Kylo Ren/Ben Solo says in TLJ: "It's time to let old things die. Snoke, Skywalker, the Sith, the Jedi, the Rebels; Let it all die. Rey... I want you to join me. We can rule together and bring a new order to the galaxy!" Well, Snoke is dead. Skywalker (Luke) is dead. Palpatine (Sith) is dead (or is he not?). The rebels were almost finished, and if there is no oppression left (no First Order, Galactic Empire), then there would be no need for rebels anymore. So, all those things will literally die, or are already dead.

Kylo Ren did kill many people. And he is/was a monster. He himself recognized that. But, how many people have Darth Vader killed or helped kill? Is that any different?

So, the rebirtth of Ben Skywalker Solo, with the help of Rey, would finally bring balance to the force, and restore hope in the galaxy. "Skywalker lives! And as long as he does, hope lives in the galaxy" -Snoke. His grandfather was redeemed but didn't make it. Ben could be redeemed and possibly live, or, at least leave a descendant... Or, he may die after the "Rise", and it would be a final sacrifice, and the prophecy would be over, and the Skywalkers would finally end. Rey could then carry the torch...

"No one's ever really gone." -Luke

"Love always wins"-Kelly Marie Tran (recent interview)

I like and makes sense... but my $$$ is still on Analkin rising from the dead to bring balance to the force.
Anakin is the only character which ties all 9 movies together.

That's exactly what happened to Vader. He sacrificed himself for his son and was resurrected as Anakin Skywalker. You could have easily named Return of the Jedi the title The Rise of Skywalker. I hope JJ doesn't go this route or he will be blasted for copying ROTJ.

That's why I don't think it's Ben Solo alone. Just like Return of the Jedi is about Luke becoming a Jedi and Anakin returning, so will TROS. There will be a double meaning somehow.

That's my sentiment as well. It's probably Ben rising, but there seems to be something else.

The inclusion of Palpatine without Anakin would be a mistake in my opinion. Would the ghost of the Chosen One just sit this out and do nothing while his old master returns to cause death and destruction? It doesn't sit right.

You are correct that Anakin would tie it together. We need EVERYONE to fight, including Luke and Yoda if Palpatine returns. Didn't John Boyega say "everyone fights" at the EP IX panel?

I'm not sure if this has come up before but it should have-

In an early draft of The Return of the Jedi Ben Kenobi returns from the spirit world and gains a physical form to help Luke defeat the Emperor.
If this was recycled (as the ST has done a lot to Lucas's unused ideas, that would mean that Luke would return to a physical body to face the Emperor...what are peoples thoughts on this idea? and for proof his the the extract from Revenge of the Jedi where Ben Kenobi returns to the world of the living-

    88. HAD ABBADON – THE TOMB’S PRISON

Luke lies unconscious on a small island in the middle of a hot lava lake. A hot wind blows across his face and wakes him. He looks around at his hostile surroundings and suddenly becomes aware of another person sitting behind him. He turns on the intruder with Jedi speed. The shrouded figure doesn’t move or even look up.

    LUKE
    Ben…

Slowly, the hooded figure looks up, revealing his face. It is Ben Kenobi in the flesh.

    BEN
I could no longer stay in the netherworld.

    LUKE
    But Yoda said…

    BEN
…that I would become one with the Force and choose not to return to the material world? That your anger prevented me from…

    LUKE
But I’m not angry…not anymore…I understand why you didn’t tell me about my father. I do.

    BEN
I know. And I am here to help you destroy the Emperor, and…your father.

Give me Anakin, Luke, Yoda, Rey and Ben Solo vs Palpatine, the Knights of Ren and a boat load of FO troopers PLEEEEEAAASSSEEEEE!!!!!!!

    Here's my fan fic scene....

    Interior Death Star wreckage:
Yoda approaches Rey and Ben with Luke and Anakin on either side. Rey and Ben are injured but alive, picking themselves off the floor after losing round 1 to Palpatine, who is stronger than ever before.

YODA: "Here to help you we are. Unfinished business...we have"

No, it's not. Vader just didn't have Han Solo for his father and didn't murder him on screen. It bothers me to no end that people focus on Han's death as to why Ben Solo can't be redeemed when, if he's not, Han died in vain AND Han's death is the very thing that shook him to his core and starts to pull him away from the dark side.

Yea, the fact Han was his father made some people have a hard time accepting a possible redemption. Han's death would be easier to accept if Ben is redeemed though, as you say, since his death would have a higher purpose. However, that shook him quite a bit, perhaps enough to not kill Leia and to then contemplate the possibility of joining with Rey and killing Snoke. We have to remember that Snoke put him down hard for vacillating, and that is the key, I think. So, in my opinion Han's death was not fully in vain already, even if Kylo isn't redeemed. But that's just my opinion, of course. And, I'd like for Kylo Ren/Ben Solo to be redeemed. I just don't see it as a necessity for Han not to have died in vain due to what Kylo/Ben did already in VIII.

I don't think Luke, Leia or Han's story will end sadly and if Kylo remains in the dark side it will be a faliure on the part of all the characters. I mean in what story would the son of the Solo's and the apprentice of Luke Skywalker be turned to darkness and never return. That just doesn't sound like a conclusion to the 9 films. It has to be the story of the triumph of the Skywalkers despite their temptation at the hands of the Emperor and Snoke. In my opinion anyway.

That is just how I see it, but I don't think we can rule that kind of sad ending out yet completely- taking into account that in one of his versions Lucas had planned to have Luke fall to the Dark Side and have him take on Vader's mask "Now, I'm Darth Vader".

Well I do think there is a good Dune esque ending to be done if they did go the full darkside route.

With like Rey questioning Ghost-Luke about his actions against Ben Solo when Luke ignited that green lightsaber in the hut. and luke saying:

'I sensed a darkness in him that would plunge the galaxy into a hundred cycles of darkness.'

and then when Rey repeats that to Ren he could explain that he also saw something and that without him being ruler of the galaxy he forsaw Thousands of years of darkness. So from his point of view he was making a sacrifice in the short term, becoming a tyrant in order to usher in thousands of years of peace...But, that doesn't sound much like a 'Rise of Skywalker' type movie. I cannot see how Ren will remain fully Dark Side at the conclusion. I think even for Rey to have a good ending she needs to be proven right about Ben Solo. That she is right about there being light in him.

You and I sir think alike!

Yeah... but there's a big difference between sensing the light in your father than a complete stranger.

Back to title. Both Anakin and Luke have been refereed several times as SKYWALKER throughout the Trilogy

"The son of Skywalker must not become a jedi"
"The Rebels are there and am sure Skywalker is with them"
    "He's after someone called...uh..uh.. Skywalker"

And Kylo's been referred to as just BEN once... I dont see Ben droping the SOLO name for Skywalker... kinda like anyone of us dropping our name for our favorite uncle's name (as much as we hate out father.. it doesnt happen" especially to the most dysfunctional family is the galaxy

We are definitely on the same page!

Was just thinking of the conversation right after Vader tells Luke he's his father, he says "Luke, you can destroy the Emporer, he has FORSEEN it, it is your destiny." Now I know he was trying to get him to join him, but that doesn't mean it was a total lie. Just like Obi-Wan says to Luke "The Emporer knew, as I did, that if Anakin were to have any offspring, they would be a threat to him". We know that it wasn't Luke that physically "killed" Palpatine, it was Anakin. BUT, what if it IS Luke that has to kill Palpatine afterall?

Anyway, just thinking about how JJ could have read those conversations.

As for the title, I'm convinced it refers to Luke + someone/something else. Double meaning. Just not convinced it's Ben Solo yet.
