Dark siders lie to help light siders fall. Is Rey parents just junkers or more to come? Does Disney really want to kill Skywalkers off? Dumb imo.

They are definitely just junkers. Kylo Ren is still alive. I still believe in redemption. I never once believed Rey was a Skywalker. There was a 0% chance.

I suspect Kylo doesn't know and was just trying to manipulate her, but he probably hit it pretty close to the mark. The final scene of the stable boy sealed it for me - like him, she is a nobody, and outcast.

I'm pretty sure Ben lied to Rey...he had to so he could attempt to get her angry and sad, etc. to join the dark side...if her parents aren't skywlker/solo, then they had to have been Jedi

She said it first, she knew from scratch, she just forget because they were the worst scum of the galaxy.

That is the point of the mirror scene, you already know, just let the past go and accept it. Your belonging is ahead.

I think one of the main messages in TLJ was that no matter how important a person is, the legend surrounding him/her can be far more powerful. Luke gave his life to inspire others which we see in the scene at the end when broomboy uses his forcepower. Luke's sacrifice has sparked the force and the will to fight back in ordinary people. The idea and the message is that anyone can be an important piece to saving the galaxy. The fate of the galaxy is no longer in the hands of the Skywalker bloodline or the Jedi for that matter. Rey is the embodiement of this concept and her parents being nobodies is a logical step towards a galaxy where the force is used in many ways and by many users. So yes, I do believe that she really is a nobody and that the Skwalker bloodline will probably end with IX.

I don't think they could be any more clear about the fact that Rey did not come from a known family. At least she's not a Solo or a Skywalker. I think @BobRoss makes the best point here. The stable boy using the Force (without training also) is the new direction the movie is going. Where you come from is far less important (and honestly will allow the overall Star Wars saga to grow)

Yep. There's a reason it was only her. Why there were two people who turned into one was symbolic.
It doesn't matter. What matters is Rey.

It is this reason why I liked the movie a lot and probably will a lot more on a second viewing. The Last Jedi's situation honestly reminds me a lot of Knights of the Old Republic 2 where like that property, TLJ presents a lot of philosophical and deep thematic discussion on the nature of various elements of the franchise, The Force, good vs. evil, or in this case legacy/ importance and how one shapes the world around them.

And really, I can see those may not be into this being more casual or even hardcore fans who just want a more direct, simple narrative. And that isn't a slight on them. We all approach this franchise for different reasons. But I can honestly see the larger contingent of those fans causing LF to backtrack from this with Abrams and basically give us TFA in that these hard questions will be pushed aside.

Which that terrifies me and honestly might kill my excitement for SWs. I will need to wait and see, but really I was happy with TLJ and I'd hate to see it all undone.

I was shocked when the reflection cleared just revealing her. Kylo could've lied about them to leave Rey no hope but to join him.

She's a nobody then. And she'll be a nobody to me. An inflated Lando. (But i love Lando).

This goes against the vision of Lucas.

Yes, and in addition I think Kylo will die in IX and Leia will be gone. I believe the Skywalker era will end. IMHO, part of episode IX will be the new generation having to deal with the loss of the legendary family.

i think the nobody thing works just fine although they could still flip it. basically the force/light side springing up in her is the force balancing itself after someone in the Skywalker bloodline with innate abilities is plunged into darkness. Snoke says it 'Darkness rises....and light to meet it', he is fully aware Rey's ability is a natural consequence of the dark side power he's engineered in Ben. that's how I'm reading things and it sets up Ep 9 for a grand finale of universal force level balancing, considerably upping the stakes. this is presuming our actual bad guy puppet master is still alive, which I strongly believe he is...

The entire theme of the movie was rejecting the idea of nobility. People who don't like the Canto Bight sequence are likely missing this connective tissue. The rich war profiteers abuse life. Kylo, also of noble blood, did the same. It is vital to the statement the movie is making that Ray is an anybody. The movie literally ended reinforcing this point with another anybody using the force to pick up his broom.

I love it. I can't wait to see our other new characters start to use the force.

Speaking of dead I really want to know why Lando isn't in this trilogy. Will we ever get an explanation? I hope BDW writes a book, exposes LFL. BTW Rey is nobody. I hope Jar Jar Abrams reveals this nobody thing in ep.9.
