SPECULATION Who will/can lead The New New Republic?

I don’t think their is an obvious polical leader character, I mean Poe after his arc in thethe last Jedi is a shoe in to be the next leader of the Rebbelion/resistance I suppose they could evolve his character into being a polical leader too.

Out side of him I suppose they could do somthing drastic with Rose or even Finn or if where going really out there how about Lando? He ruled cloud city, how ud make it work in the plot though I dunno.

 

I’d also point out that we don’t know thier is gonna be a New NEW Republic at the end of 9, I mean even if the resistance wins, which I guess isn’t set in stone, the galaxy has had two republics fail in the last what 50 years? If wear keeping things vaguely realistic I’d think thier would be a lot of opposition to trying a third time.

Personly if the story does go on after episode 9 and the New Order has lost I’d quite like the galaxy to fall into small factions. It would allow for more variance in the story going forward.

 

Why should the new system be a democracy? Maybe we should return to good ol' absolute monarchy, where...

with that queen being Rey? That would be quite a twist, wouldn't it?

Being completely honest, do we truly need a character to be appointed the next Chancellor? The quest to defeat the First Order is a big enough task to fill an over 2-hour long film.

 

I feel like it is very difficult to guess who would be the character to take charge of the new Republic. With Holdo gone and Leia likely to be written out of IX, there are no politically-experienced characters remaining of relevance. It seems unlikely Mon Mothma would return just for IX yet it is possible. However, a small part of me would also love to see Lando make his return and lead the Resistance. With Leia exiting the story and opening the position of Resistance leader I feel like Lando could be one of the more worthy replacements, however unlikely it may be considering his lack of involvement in TFA and TLJ.

I'm wondering if we really need centralized Galactic Government. I'm more in favor of smaller leadership.

That said, Lando has experience as a City Administrator, is a Bona Fide War Hero, and is quite charismatic. He's really the last one they have left. Mon Mothma retired a long time ago.

 

Rose Tico will become Chancellor of the New Republic after she and Finn defeat the evil First Order with love.

 

On the other hand, Mon Mothma got the job after about a minute of screen time talking about dying Bothans.

Granted, they built up a lot of story around her, and got her into the prequels, but I could see it happening again.

They probably planned on a good deal of IX's plot revolving around Leia uniting the Galaxy. Can't really do that any more.

With the New Republic only lasting 30 or so years and the previous one disbanded by its own chancellor it doesn't seem to be a viable way forward. With the FO wiping out 90% of the Resistance fleet and Capital i really doubt they would be able to keep a galaxy in order.

I think what they should do is have the galaxy dived up into sectors and have a key figure leading each one. Sort of like Game of thrones with all the different houses. They they then convene on a key world annually and suss out Galaxy policies or which planet has the best blue milk.

Lets say they do a saga 100 or so years later they could have Jedi V Jedi in a conflict of some sort where each Jedi is loyal to their sector/House if they go to war with another sector/house.
