SPECULATION Who Will Rise to be a New Inquisitor? - POLL

Thank you! Does anybody have the accompanying text? The lines on the pictures seem to suggest that there is some background information about the characters.

PS: Do we already know when Season 2 will start?

 

Fredde Prinze Jr. (Kanan's voice actor) has made a tweet confirming the new female Inquisitor's species.

 

So basically, Barriss confirmed.

 

Before the tweet I was like 60/40 against it being Barriss, but now, I'd be em-Barriss-ed if it wasn't her.

 

While I think it will be Barriss Offee and the recent information (i.e., the picture and Freddie Prize Jr's tweet) support that view, there was someone on the news page who suggested that the female inquisitor would be Sabine's sister (see below).

Hey everyone! I come to this site all the time, but this is the first time I’m posting, so go easy on me!

I really hope it is Bariss. There is a lot of evidence to support it, and it would be so cool to see her and Ahsoka go up against each other, but…

… I honestly don’t think it is her. I understand the logic behind her “physical change”, but that is still kind of strange. Also, this is Star Wars Rebels, not The Clone Wars Reunion Show. I love the characters and callbacks of TCW that are in Rebels, but they shouldn’t overtake the focus.

I think the female Inquisitor is a member of Sabine’s family, either her sister or her mother. She looks MUCH more like Sabine than Bariss. All we really know of Sabine is that she use to be loyal to the Empire while at the Imperial Academy, and we know next to nothing about her family. Filoni has also said that “If Season One represents A New Hope, Season Two is very much inspired by Empire Strikes Back”, and we all know the big reveal of that movie. It would add emotional drama for Sabine, since either Kanan or Ezra would have to fight her.

To me, Barriss still seems to be the most likely candidate, but I must admit Sabine's sister would be awesome too. We do not really know why Sabine became a rebel (e.g., perhaps the Empire abducted her force-sensitive sister) and it would lead to some dramatic situations.

 

As I had indicated, I think it is very, very unlikely that it will be Sabine's sister, but I just found the suggestion, as a hypothetical situation, an interesting possibility with several dramatic implications. Of course, one could argue that the Emperor did not look human anymore after the Fall of the Repubic. His appearance had become twisted by the Dark Side.

 

I'm not sure how Barriss Offee makes the most sense. She was an extremist who committed a terrorist act against the Jedi, but her heart was in the right place. She saw corruption in the Jedi Order. Why wouldn't she seem the same/worse in the Empire, unless you want assume she could be blinded by the dark side; she didn't have the same personal stake that Anakin did, though, so I don't really buy that she'd be so easily corrupted.

 

I agree with the article posted a few days ago... it's not particularly compelling, having new Inquisitors keep popping up, dying, and being replaced. In relation to Vader, too, they just seem like throwaway characters who pose little or no real threat.

It's a little tough to take them seriously, too, both for this reason, and the fact that, for a female, Imperial, Dark-Side-wielding Inquisitor to have a kind of easy-going quality or humor about her seems a little more Human than evil. Vader, in the Original Trilogy, was compelling in Empire and Jedi because he only hinted at having that quality. Outwardly, he was cold, hard, and ruthless. The Inquisitors should share this quality. Agent Kallus and Tarkin both have that darkly loyal quality, and I think the Inquisitors are probably better with fewer outward redeemable qualities.
