I thought so too, but I read this morning this:

Trevorrow added that he’s done “a lot of scribbling and a lot of notes” thinking about the story that he wants to tell in Episode IX (he’s writing the script with frequent partner Derek Connolly)... (from http://collider.com/star-wars-9-rey...utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=collidersocial)

So Johnson will only provide the outline, and then Trevorrow does the rest... I guess.

(Rian Johnson denied that it's based on a treatment he wrote. Lucasfilm and Trevorrow have never acknowledged Connolly's involvement, either, AFAIK.)

They keep citing him as the "Wonder" writer. Jack Thorne is also the writer for the new Sandman adaptation, as well as the writer (and story creator along with JK Rowling and John Tiffany) of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, as well as the writer of a lot of well received plays and TV shows (including UK Skins). So to just say he's the writer of "Wonder" is underselling him quite a bit. He appears to be versed in both Sci-Fi/fantasy, as well as incorporating real/resonant emotionality into his characters and dialogue. I mark this as a positive step for the film.

EDIT: That said, "Wonder" is testing incredibly well and has been pushed back to compete in awards season.

The writing credits for "EPISODE IX" are Derek Connolly, Jack Thorne and Colin Trevorrow. George Lucas was also included as original creator of some of the characters.

When is Lucasfilm and Trevorrow going to admit that Connolly is writing on the film? If he is -- they've never even acknowledged him for that, not in interviews and not on StarWars.com. He's like the elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about.
