Who would you cast as a young Han Solo?

I am implying that big studio's go with a name actor because it is a saver bet to go with a known quantity. I don't think the studio is to worried about pissing off some Star Wars fans who are going to see the movie no matter what. Hopefully, it won't big name actor just because. But like Daniel Craig as James Bond a good performance will change people's mind. Sometimes a fresh take is needed. Performance and storytelling is what I hope will be the primary concern.

My point about the directors Lord/Miller for this movie is that they are known for giving fresh takes to old ideas. Doesn't matter if it is Cloudy with A Chance Of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street or a movie about Legos. They will give it a fresh take. Lawrence Kasdan is in the team to help keep it Han Solo. But I have a feeling the actor chosen will be somebody nobody is expecting.

Yeah, most of the recasts they have done have worked fine. Nobody questions that Ewan McGregor did a good job as obi-wan

Oh yeah he's great. The only 2 things about that are, 1. We never saw a young Obi-Wan, and 2. They look very similar. If we had only seen Han in his 60's then it wouldn't matter as much. But because the age gap is so small it's a much harder thing to pull off.

From everything Lucasfilm has said, they're really trying hard to please the fans in whatever way possible. I don't think they're gonna cast someone who doesn't look at least mostly like him. The problem with this movie is that they're painting themselves into a corner and it could either end well or not. Maybe they already have an actor in mind and that's why they went through with it? Could be. But Lucasfilm definitely has more love and care than some corporate decision. Also about the James Bond point. James Bond is not a universe where they pride themselves on continuity. Anyone can play James Bond and make it their own. Han Solo is in a universe that prides itself on making sure it all fits together and makes sense. Casting someone who doesn't look or sound like Han would just be jarring and piss fans off in the long run. Now I know they're casting a lot of famous and talented actors for Rogue One. But I think that's because, even though it's Star Wars, it's not a traditional episode with returning characters. Han Solo is famous enough in name to get the average audience interested. I think that if they got someone like Anthony Ingruber who looks and sounds just like him, people would be interested to see it just based on that fact alone. And who's to say that Anthony Ingruber doesn't totally kill it in the audition? He's been acting in small independent short films and is a voice over actor. I just think he at least deserves an audition. If he doesn't pull it off then that's understandable. But I don't think they'll go with someone who just doesn't fit.

If this is truly set between III and IV, and they don't cast him, then this film shall truly stink to high heaven. They basically need a look alike. That can act. And sound roughly like him. TALL ORDER. Only this guy can pull off that trifecta.

Has anyone seen Pan? I have not seen it yet. We are saving for a Disney day trip so no extra movies. I know some articles have included Garrett Hedlund on the who could play Han Solo list. Was he any good as a young Hook?

I heard he wasn't very good in it. But I can see him as a young Solo. Problem is his age. From what I heard they're looking for 22-26 year olds.

I think the answer is very simple: they just ask Harrison: "who would you like to see as a young Han Solo?" & I pretty sure what mr.Ford would answer to that question ;) :D

This is real tough one to be honest as others have stated, while it is important to cast the right person and look. At the sametime i want to see them do Han Solo justice, i could see not just 3 movies, but alot more in terms of Solo movies, so much he has done before joining the rebellion and with Chewie? Heck yeah! This is one of the few that i agree with, Rogue One i am not to sure about.

    My top picks:
    - Anthony Ingruber
    - Taron Egerton
    - Chris Pratt (One of my favorite actors, but I think he's more of an Indiana Jones, and he's a little old for it now)
    - Scott Eastwood
    - Liam Hemsworth
    - NOT JAI COURTNEY!!

My top pick: Anthony Ingruber. He's practically unknown (compared to Liam Hamsworth and Chris Pratt) and has the looks.

    - Taron Edgerton
    - Dylan O'Brien
    - Nick Robinson

I'm willing to bet it ends up being one of these three... or someone that we don't quite know yet.

piece of cake - young Harrison Ford, of course. The more important question - would I like to see a movie with young Han Solo? No, totally uninterested.

I really did enjoy Anthony Ingruber's impression of Han Solo.... and he definitely does look like him more than the other actors that are being considered. I heard that Miles Teller was being considered as well (though that may be just a rumor). I know the new Fantastic Four sucked, but I think Miles is a very good actor. I think he's charismatic, sarcastic, funny, and definitely has the cocky part down. Most of his roles, he uses that sarcastic humor and I can't help but think of Han Solo. Anyway, not sure if he is definitely being considered, but if he is.... I think he'd be a good fit. That's just my opinion.

That's just one of many articles I found on the "short list" of the potential young Han Solo

Michael B. Jordan will most likely be Boba Fett, I saw a rumor that he was offered it after he lost out on Finn.
