Notice the focus is on what you like, not dislike.

Hmm... Of the directors listed in the poll, I'd go with with Denis Villeneuve (can't wait to see what he does with Dune) or Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker is one of my favorite movies ever).

If Star Wars goes the route of the Bond series where they just keep making new stories forever, then at some point I gotta know what a Nolan Star Wars movie looks like.

I wouldn't mind seeing Ridley Scott and Paul Greengrass (love the Bourne movies) give it a shot. Give me a Black Hawk Down in space.

Lawrence Kasdan. He's a talented director in his own right and has been one of the most influential creative forces in Star Wars history.

I think it is about 50/50 chance that the next director will be someone working on one of the TV shows. Unless Rian Johnson directed film gets slated next I think that the next story and script will be worked out and wrote and one of the directors from TV will be picked to direct the film.

    From the list I voted:
    -Rian Johnson
    -Dave Filoni
    -other (please comment)

If I could have anyone direct a Star Wars movie at all it'd be Hayao Miyazaki, to make a Ghibli anime Star Wars movie. (Very unlikely, but you asked! There's a minor connection / mutual respect between Ghibli/Lucasfilm from before the Disney sale at least... ...I can dream).

Definetely Denis Villeneuve. Blade Runner 2049 is one of my favourite movies of all time and I'd love to see what he can do with Star Wars. Rian Johnson too, of course.

Ewan McGregor, especially that we can take for granted that he'll directing one of the 6 episodes of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

    I'm so torn on this.
Yes I want my GDT Star Wars monster movie. No it will never happen.

While Denis, Taika, Bigelow and GDT are among the best film makers working, I don't know if I'd want them in this world tbh.
Denis and Bigelow likely wouldn't change who they are as film makers enough. Plus with Dune on his plate right now and the lack of profitability of BR2049, if Dune doesn't make bank I don't think you'd want him on a main SW movie. Maybe a D+ show where his sensibilities will probably play better a smaller audience.
Taika is already doing a lot of franchise stuff and I want him to keep working on indie stuff right now. He's already on for Thor 4 and has another film in the works.

I voted for Rian because while I want him to make more smaller stuff as well, he seems very much aligned with LFL and he isn't attached to anything else right now.

But the list of directors I want in Star Wars is long and the amount of money those films would make (because they are niche filmmakers) is not a lot

Nolan - he's more than capable of handling big productions and a big name (such as Batman), and considering he once showed interest in the Bond franchise I think he would be tempted with Star Wars.

He likes sci-fi as well and I feel would understand Star Wars better that some, but would need to be trusted.

Now that B&W have left, maybe he should be approached to explore the easier times of the Jedi and Sith.

RJ, Favreau, and Filoni since they're already in the house; Bigelow because heck yes; Russo Brothers* because they can mix genres pretty well. Villeneuve because he makes beautiful movies.

*Russo Brothers only if they work with Markus and McFeely. the four work best as a team, and that's how they'll shine.

Villeneuve is a interesting choice. I think I really enjoyed all his movies so far, some of them are masterpieces.

This is a hard one to pick. There are variables like, what is the story, etc... But I went with three: Dave Filoni as well as Jon F. and Dennis Villeneuve. Obviously the first two we know what we are getting. Both have had, or now have, major Star Wars experience. DV not so much, but I'd love to see what he could bring to the screen. Totally looking forward to seeing DV's Dune.

After the response to the trailer for The Mandalorian, going to go with Werner Herzog, though I would like to see more female directors, it would be epic. Probably throw in some space chickens, then in the interview, after being in The Mandalorian and directing the film, would answer the question with a "What is Star Wars?"

No one could argue it wasn't Star Wars enough.
