Whose side are you on: Republic or CIS?

Neither. They are both run by Sith. I support the Rebel Alliance.

The CIS because unlike the Republic they were being controlled by a sith and the politicians new unlike the Republic. Also the Republic is very flawed in the Star Wars universe. I

I actually am writing an essay on why the empire THE GOD DAMN GALACTIC EMPIRE is a better government than the Republic in star wars so this thread was cool to see

 

With the Republic and would remain so on the First Empire Day and Every day after.

 

If you look at it politically, there really is no reason to root for the CIS. They were pushed into the whole separatist movement by Sidious and Dooku to begin with. It's not likely it was their ideal to begin with. It might even have been a mind trick.

 

Republic, because I love me some clone troopers. TBH, I wish the Seperatists were developed a little bit more in the prequels and TCW, but to be fair, the Empire isn't the most developed yet either. (Though if they did a TCW-era Lost Stars or Inferno Squad-style book, THAT would be better.)

 

Out-of-universe: Republic. In-universe: CIS, because the Republic wouldn't let them become independent, was providing little to no support to their outer worlds whilst draining them of all their resources and wealth, and was vile and corrupt. The CIS had a much smaller and more democratic government. Sure, Dooku foiled CIS plans and assassinated members, but Palpatine did the same to the Republic.

 

Yup I'm a Republican, so I like small Government, and more Independence. If you have independent systems, they will be governed more efficiently than a one size fits all centralized Republic.

 

Hard one to answer but I'm leaning toward the Separatists. Both are absolutely corrupt but most normal people wouldn't know that - such as myself.

The Republic was being made redundant.. to pass a law would take too long. The way the Separatists went about it was wrong but I'd like to think if I was an in-universe SW Character I'd like to be a leading Separatist politician or something

If a planet voted to leave the Republic, they should be allowed to do so, not forced to stay.

Neutral. I'd have gotten into my ship and headed for the dimmest part of the Outer Rim I could find. Go work for truly decent gentlebeings like pirates or smugglers. The rest of the galaxy can keep their politicians and armies.

 

See, I get that they were certainly influenced by the sith, but I'm not totally sure that their grievances aren't valid.

In fact, I really need to brush up on this aspect of Star Wars. I've been wondering lately exactly what the CIS was fighting for. After all, as we see, it's not like it was just a giant droid army led by the Sith and orchestrated by Neomodians, as it may seem in the films.

Actual systems (thousands of them, apparently) followed the Confederacy. Actual organic beings, with their own planetary governments and concerns. And, unless I'm totally mistaken, the Republic went to war with them simply because they wanted to leave. In fact, as far as I can tell, the first strike in the war was the by the Republic at Geonosis.

Obviously, the prototype Death Star that the Geonosians were working on posed a significant threat to the Republic, so they certainly weren't without fault- but also, the Republic didn't even know about that battlestation.
