Rey is good at fighting, we saw that on Jakku and fighting with a saber is more about combat skills than force power.

Was it Kylo Ren first fight ?

But Kylo can do many more things with the Force than Rey so who's in your opinion is stronger with the Force ?

I think this will be answered to some extent in ep8 but really, its a sliding scale, the force is mysterious. I mean was the emperor stronger than Yoda or was he just using the force more effectively as a weapon?

Kylo Ren has demonstrated powers we've never seen as an audience before. The Paralysis thing, where he freezes peoples bodies. and even holds the blaster bolt mid air. He also can read minds and invade them by force. Something Vader and his torture droid couldn't do apparently.

So Kylo appears more powerful that Luke in RoTJ based on his use of the force. Luke had very limited abilities even then. (note his fight with the Rancor and how he used a bone, and threw a rock, never using the force as a weapon.) I know this is partly due to technology but Kylo's proficiency even dwarfs what was saw of Anakin in the PT.

Anakin force chokes someone. Kylo Ren can pull an officer to him with the force. This is kinda due to the Superhero movie thing, people want more now, bigger, more overt powers.

However Rey does not demonstrate unprecedented. She does however have an innate ability. As far as demonstration though, not so much. Even her fight at the end didn't show her to be a force master. Just determined and a good fighter.

I guess that Kylo Ren has had more training and therefore has more abilities. However, Rey has shown to be talented. Given enough time and training, Rey will be stronger than Kylo Ren.

After two trilogies of David fighting Goliath I make a bold prediction: power levels won't determine the outcome this time too.

The best way I could word this is that Ben is more skilled with the force, whereas Rey has more raw power than him. A good analogy is to imagine a knowledgeable mathematician with experience but average intelligence versus a rookie mathematician with basic mathematics knowledge but very high 'brainpower'. The first is definitely better now, but the second has the potential to be even better one day.

The only thing that makes me doubt this is that Kylo hails from Skywalker lineage. We don't yet know if Rey has a similar perk.

I think they are equally powerful (if it works out like I'd like it to, that will be for a good reason). We know the dark side is quicker, easier, more seductive, so I suspect that Kylo's power will grow quicker and he will win round 2, as he continues to grow into the dark side's embrace. Though she may lose in round 2, ultimately via Luke's training and her own personal growth, Rey will also prove to be a formidable foe for Kylo Ren in the last chapter.

I think it's Rey since she could use a jedi mind trick and take the saber from the ground using the force with no knowledge of any sort of training .

I agree with those who think Kylo is more skilled but Rey is stronger. Because Rey is untrained it is not noticeable yet

That's not how the Force works. :p

Anakin, supposedly the most powerful Force user ever, got chopped up by Obi-Wan and not just because Kenobi had the higher ground. It's not power that counts, it's skill and intent and how in tune you are with the Force.

Kylo Ren says that Rey is more powerful that she knows it, because that is what is important to him - power. Ren, who was trained by both Luke and Snoke, got defeated by a scavenger girl who repeatedly tried to stab him with lightsaber because she had no idea what she was doing. But, when she let the Force in and became completely in tune with it, she kicked his ass. So, maybe he is more skilled because he is better trained and she has great potential in the Force, but I don't think the power will be crucial. Luke wasn't successful in the Original Trilogy because he was more powerful or skilled than Vader and Sidious (which he was not), but because he trusted in the Force.

I think the title of the thread implies physical might, though. But sure, that in itself depends on the mindset of the two individuals. During their first bout, Kylo was incredibly conflicted, wounded and out of control. This allowed a vastly inexperienced Rey to get the better of him.
However, we cannot yet know who has the greater potential as we don't know where Rey has come from.
Kylo has the Skywalker bloodline and with it huge potential for power - if he can master it.
Rey could very well be on his level or beyond it with Force power potential. But in the end it comes down to how one can master the Force.
Someone with midichlorians of the chart can be defeated by someone with half the amount but who trains every hour of every day of their lives.
Anakin was far beyond Obi Wan in terms of the power of the Force that was available to him. But Kenobi had the mental advantage.

Luke was successful because he appealed to his father's compassion and love. So in that sense, he outwitted the Dark Side.
And that is really the point. We can argue power levels until we're blue in the face. At the end of the day, the Dark Side leads to your own destruction and love conquers all.

    i think they are equal.
i think that's the whole point.
Ren may know more right now because he's been somewhat trained, but in terms of potential, i'm guessing they are a perfect duality.

Rey will ultimately be more powerful because she appears to be less emotionally fragile, but as far as potential power in the Force, they are evenly matched, i think.
it's not an option on the poll, though, so for the moment i'm picking Ren since if we're talking about TFA, he has the advantage (even if he wastes it).

i agree with this. i think they are of a equal level. Power wise they are the same but the process of how that power is refined will make the difference in the end. Kylo starts out with the advantage of being trained but Rey will overtake him when she gets her own training.

Hmmm.... that is a GOOD GOOD question @Bandini .In episode VII we start to know a "little" bit from Rey and Kylo. Why did Rey was at Jakku?BIG question....TOP secret like BB8 say to Rey.Rey said back to BB8..."Me too".Is like someone save Rey when little from someone... BUT asking your question.Rey is MORE powerful than Kylo. She do the mind tricks, she read Kylo mind, she fight very nice with the light saber and with her own stick.
Kylo can stop a blaster ray on the air BUT that REALLY don't impress me.He can pull a person to him in the air.He can throw away in the air a person BUT Rey is so nice and innocent like Luke. She is something MORE special. She is very sentimental.I watch her cry for Finn when the Rattar get him.She save him.I see Rey cry when Ben Solo kill Han Solo. She is SO nice and loving her character so much.I'm in LOVE with her in this movie. If you ask me between who is MORE powerful between Luke and Rey....uummmm... ....That is a hard one.But i'm going with Rey.Between Rey and Kylo.....Rey is STRONG with the FORCE.I can feel and see it...:).

I like the idea of the equal thing. My previous arguing in favour of Kylo Ren is based on his extraordinary displays of the force in TFA.
However in a wider way, it would make sense for them to be equals. That between the two of them there is a kind of Yin/Yang harmony of conflict.

And I suppose within a narrative conflict its Rey who will come out on top in the end.
I mean I don't see Kylo Ren being the eventual victor. He will either die or return to the light.

I think the measurement of power levels is a bad idea. Its a superhero and video game trope.

In the ANH fight between Vader and Ben Kenobi who was stronger? By that point Vader was a master, but who was the real victor in the fight?
I think you could say: Vader was. or Ben was. or both won in their own way. or that really neither person won, nothing was won by either side.

star wars is a spiritual battle, a battle of conflicting ideology. the person with the more harmonious ideology almost always wins the conflict in some way.

I would always say OB1, because he is my fav, and he learned how to become more powerful then you can ever image, but Kylo has displayed force capabilities that have not been witnessed b4 so for now, I give it to him. I'll have to wait and see how powerful Luke has become considering he trained Ben Solo. Anakin, the chosen one was reckless, selfish, and very impatient.

I don't see Rey freezing any Lazer bolts.

So assuming the question applies to who is stronger with the force RIGHT NOW I say Kylo.

Time will tell but it may be that this isn't really a fair question if Rey is operating in a different manner to all previous force users.

JJ's director's commentary suggests Rey is almost acting as a conduit for the force itself, hence her ability to easily defeat Kylo at the end of TFA.

If this is indeed the case, and we see this expanded upon in TLJ, then they won't even be close in terms of simple strength with the force...
