Return of the Jedi and The Last Jedi, the two sides of the same life eventually landing at the same place.

I just re-watched this scene yesterday.

I said ROTJ Luke because he is really beginning to understand all aspects of the force and the control it can have over physical and mental states. I have to agree that ANW Luke is definitely the most relatable but in terms of when he was most influential, (on live action) for me has to be ROTJ :))

I cast my vote for Luke in Episodes IV-VII, but I'd like to give a special shout-out to Luke in The Mandalorian and in Battlefront II (the third mission, "The Observatory"). I wasn't clear if those are captured in "EU Luke," as I believe they are both canon.

This is a tough one! I’d go with ROTJ Luke. I love the green lightsaber mixed in with his new and improved jeri abilities. Also, the cloak that he wars in the beginning is awesome. It makes him look more ominous and strong. I also love that final dual at the end with Luke in it. Amazing.

Hey! I don’t like legends/EU. I should do some research on the EU to really see if its for me or not. What do you think about it?

Go for it! I'd highly recommend starting With the Thrawn trilogy.

I thought Dark Empire-Luke was interesting; not necessarily good (in a "making sense" kind of way), but he was definitelly interesting. And he touched a lot of bases with the ST Luke, AND was the super-Luke (in some ways) that some ST-haters wanted. AND Palpy was resurrected in that series as well.

As for Zahn-Luke, I didn't particularly like him that much. Zahn tried to work around the super-Luke problem by making him super-but-striving-to-be-normal, which is interesting as a setup for an arc, but does not at all work as the totality of the arc. Zahn-Luke keeps switching between being almost-super-Luke and reluctant-Luke-'cause-the-plot-can't-handle-super-Luke-bursting-onto-the-stage. The ST did this trope a lot better by giving Luke a reason to stop being super (i.e. hubris got the better of him and he failed, just like Yoda said he would if he went off to face Vader before his training was complete, and Luke VERY MUCH failed), and then the trope was dramatically resolved and the arc ended in triumph. The EU-Luke just existed in a constant state of super-yet-non-super-Luke that never got anywhere... oh, and he totally married Zahn's attempt at writing a new Luke... By the Whills, my forehead hurts from butting agains the EU so hard!

Mark Hamill is apparently not a fan of EU Luke. Says he has to just nod politely when fans want to talk about his "wife", Mara Jade.

I think what makes EU Luke so good is he fulfilled his potential unlike his father, he's much calmer and unselfish, unlike Anakin. This is how I always imagine Luke being after ROTJ.

Note: it is very likely I may be mistaken. I'm french and I am very able to misunderstood written english.

When you wrote "I don't remember there being any other "Luke"s in Star Wars to be honest", I understood that as "I don't remember there is any other portray of Luke in Star Wars, apart the 3 I (= you, Martoto) provided above".
So, I consider your lack of faith disturbing because, man, there is that portray of Luke (along with Leia) when he was just born, in RotS.

You know : my post was just a bit of fun. :D

So he doesn't like grumpy old Luke or super powerful Luke, which leads me to conclude he just doesn't like Luke.

He didn't like ESB Luke being separated from Han and especially Leia. And kept out of most of the action until he gets his butt kicked by Vader.

He didn't like ROTJ Luke being arbitrarily dark with the palace guards one minute, then saintly the next, then filled with rage again in the next moment. ("George. Did you just make this up in the car on the ride over here?")

And he did't like episodes I-III being made before episodes VII-IX and being forced to watch "these strangers playing in my sandbox". And then George ultimately "cancelling" episodes VII-IX, meaning the original saga was like watching three films to see how James Bond earned his double-"0" license and then the franchise is over.

In his own words whenever he begins to confess his reservations about which direction the saga has gone, "It's no surprise with me. I'm irrationally possessive about it.".
