Honestly, and as tragic as it was, I think that was his destiny, and everyone expected it, so it wasn't so much of a surprise....especially being the bad fella that he was.

Also remember that Owen married Shmi, and loved her...

It was an amazing send off for him...and true to his character. Luke was always a pacifist.

For me, Shmi Skywalker's death was the saddest. Anakin Skywaker's death was the second saddest to me.

I feel like Han's death was the worst for me, as another user said, he was part of the original trio and seeing him go genuinely hurt. Also Anakin's transition from himself to Vader was pretty sad :/ It's difficult to choose:(

Anakin Skywalker seemed to be the saddest death for me.

He was always a slave, a slave on Tatooine, a slave to the Jedi, and a slave to the Sith. To see him finally be free in his last moments with his son by his side really hits different.

Normally I would've said Han Solo because he is one of my favorite characters, but the fact that he died in front of two people that hardly new him and that the tone completely shifts seconds later really felt more like a shock than anything else

You know what I now find the saddest? I thought it was Han's. But it's actually Ben's.
He died feeding Rey his life force....and nobody even knew. He didn't get a funeral pyre, like Vader. No one wept for him, like Luke did for his father. Rey never tells her friends he'd returned to the light (canon from the novel).
Post fading into the Force it's as if he never existed. No Force ghost. No mention. Nada.

    Now that is sad.:(

There's a very good possibility that he's alive inside of Rey. How would you feel about that? lol

    1. It gives her reason to be part of the Skywalker family through alchemical wedding.
    2. It keeps alive the bloodlines of both the good and bad family merged and balanced into one, if she is able to reproduce their baby from her own body.

Guess what - I've heard this theory before, and it is one of the most nauseating ideas I have ever heard. It gave me nightmares!

And...not only is Rey a 'great fighter', a hotshot pilot, Leia's child substitute, Luke's child substitute, has a 'special bond' with Chewie, is Han's heir, and 'all the Jedi'....now apparently she can 'concieve and birth' her own child using someone else's life force.

And here is me thinking they simply couldn't make her more of a 'Mary Sue' if they'd tried!

The symbols can be seen different ways in the story. The falcon she is now flying after everyone's dead is a symbol for Horus, who carried the sun and moon (Luke and Leia) across the sky. Horus = Ra.
It's unclear what they are saying here by Rey's yellow lightsaber. Are they saying that yellow is guarding the balance, or are they saying that yellow IS the balance? If yellow or will is the balance, then will is above love, and isn't that Aleister Crowley and Thelema? What does everyone think?

The word grogu, best I can find, traces back to crocus, or the yellow saffron. Yellow again, and maybe symbolic of why he passes on Yoda's green (heart) lightsaber, using his free will to choose his path back to the Mandalorian. Also, in the sequel trilogy, Luke's green lightsaber was absent. With the death of his character, and Grogu's choice, maybe we won't see green again for a while.

You know Sheddai....you have some good theories, but although if Lucas or Johnson had written and/or directed TROS I might have thought that. But Abrams and Terrio just don't have that depth. I really think that TROS was, and is:

Terrio's long dreamed of Luke/Leia fanfic
Abrams telling Johnson to get lost
DLF telling the Fandom Menace: 'Ok, ok you win, we'll retcon TLJ'
    What Daisy Ridley wanted
    What John Boyega wanted
DLF erasing Lucas's original characters so they can 'move forward with new ones' (weird, as they haven't yet)
DLF trying to prove they are very woke
DLF just wanting to get the entire thing over and done with so they can focus on Disney +
Someone behind the scenes getting very drunk and deciding to rehash ROTJ. And copying Raiders of the Last Ark and Avengers.

Nothing more to it than that!:)

I loved the symbolism of the dying lotus, Padme, which I thought was the saddest death. The idea that Grogu's name comes from a flower might not be off the mark. Crocus in Greek sounds a lot like Grogu. Crocus is where saffron comes from. It's also a flower used in neopaganism for spring rituals, symbolizing rebirth and renewal, early sign of spring's arrival, the promise of new beginnings, and the continuing cycle of life. Listen to this man pronounce crocus:

As TROS was about the rising sun, and the light coming back into the world, it would fit to have a symbol of spring and rebirth for the next chapter of SW.

I read about one myth where the Greek god Hermes accidentally kills his friend, Crocus, and immortalizes him in the Crocus flower. Hermes is similar to Thoth, Mercury, and Nabu-- where the planet Naboo (home of Sheev and Queen Padme, the saddest death in SW) likely got it's name. The crocus grows out of a little bulb, sprouts early in Spring and can endure the winter cold. If you look at the sprouted bulb, it looks kinda like a little Grogu in his little potato sack outfit.

Grogu witnessed the other saddest deaths, the kids at the temple. But I chose Padme as saddest because she symbolizes the loss of connection to the sacred, and that's what makes all those other sad deaths possible. Her name comes from a flower. Using another flower to symbolize surviving harsh times and young spring growth could be a sign of what's to come. What do you think?

By the end of that movie I couldn't take anything seriously enough to work up emotions, at least not the ones they intended. Especially with the fake out deaths and resurrections. I don't think it's all that different from Vader's death though. If I recall in the EU Luke similarly didn't make Vader's redemption widely known. There was a shot of his burning body and his Force ghost but that was for Luke only. I would say Ben redeemed himself to the only 3 people he cared about, his parents and Rey. Besides these days Death in Star Wars is about hardly permanent. If there's money to be squeezed from a character they'll show up later cloned, Force Ghosted or with their severed head sown onto a Tauntaun or something.

Because he's not dead. I don't care what the official line is. He isn't dead. If he had really been dead we would have seen a FG, It will turn out that his body was transported to another location. Most likely on Exegol. There is no way in all creation that LF is going to allow it so that their cash cow...excuse me..I meant Ben Solo die. :).

Laughing. I am listing Wade as Missing In Action, not deceased. I'm not giving up on my boy. He's like a son to me. .
