Whose death did you think was the saddest?

I don't care if people saw it coming from a mile away, Han Solo's death will always be the saddest for me, especially in the context of the story of the film. Plus the entire scene is masterfully shot, directed, written and acted. I feel like because of the predictableness (is that a word?) the scene doesn't get the credit that it deserves but it's good, oh so good.

 

Padme...Poor, poor Padme. She never did anything wrong, but died the youngest (of the main characters). She is the sacrificial lamb of SW.

 

Several of the OT characters plus several antagonists in the last films because their deaths were banal.

I voted Han and Obi-Wan, but I was pretty sad to see Shmi dying in her sons arms. I waited a long time to watch that movie, only because people told me the outcome already. To watch your mother die would be pretty dang difficult.

 

Han and Padme for me. RIP Kanan.

 

Luke...... So stupid to let him die at that point.

 

Fives is not on this poll? What is this mistake.

For me on the Poll it was Han for obvious reasons and also Darth Maul because his death in the arms of Kenobi really got to me. He just wanted to get back at the man who ruined his whole life. But he could never kill Sidious so he went after Kenobi instead, but he died knowing that he would be avenged.

 

Solo gets the primary nod from me. It was expected and dramatically well-placed. What got me was the moment he reached up and touched Ben's face. Then I thought of how many times I've cradled my own son's chin (then 2 yo, now 4 yo) in the very same way. That makes me all .

 

Qui Gon. His death was tragic on many levels for me. Qui Gon was not some hermit that came out of hiding to immediately die. He was a noble Jedi Knight and had a much better understanding of the Force than most if not all of his peers. I just feel like Jinn had a whole lot left to accomplish and his untimely death eventually brought about the end of the Republic and Jedi. Also Liam Neeson.............

 

I'm shocked by how many people voted for Han Solo. It must be because he is so many people's favorite character, but his death scene is not that sad in particular. It's not a very well-edited scene, and the way its staged and built up is way too obvious. I think it's not so much about the scene itself, but the fact that people felt sad that Han Solo wouldn't be in the next two films.... In that case, it's not the scene itself that is sad for you, but the context of the scene.

Personally, I voted for Anakin's death in ROTJ. I think that should be a no-brainer.

Maybe it sounds a bit weird, but I was very sad after the last scene of K2SO in RO1. Don't know why but this was a masterpiece of heroism in my eyes.
