I really hope that Anakin shows up in TROS preferably as Force Ghost, but I will take even flashback or a hologram. Anakin Skywalker was so important to George Lucas. Episode 1-6 (the saga) was about the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker, it would feel like a disservice if Anakin Skywalker does not make an appearance somehow. I know they mention Vader in the sequel, but sequel trilogy has yet to mention Anakin by a name other than Sith/Jedi, father or Vader. The once "Chosen One" hero behind the mask. I agree with you about the lack of Anakin recognition in the sequel trilogy.

As someone who really enjoyed TFA I can only give JJ the benefit of the doubt.
what I noticed however, is that it takes a little (and interview or a detail) to change my mode about
    this movie.
But at the end of the day, I think that the truth is that I am more curious and intrigued than exited.
At this point I just wanna know how is going to end and meanwhile I like to play the game of speculations.
    Yeah... that still get me.
Especially thinking about all the things that we have said and discuss so far.
It will be funny to see how much right or wrong we’ve been.
Other than that I don’t have... high expectations. And that’s probably a good thing regardless.

I am equally prepared to enjoy this movie - at least for what it may be - or to pretend that the ST never came out.
And none of that bothers me at all.

As a kid growing up in the era of the best film ever the empire strikes back !!!!

Nothing has ever come close to that moment you know the one !!!! . The shock the wow then the cliffhanger ending

That film there is guilty for creating a split fan base because no matter what we get come December that shock wow moment will never compare to being a kid back in the 80’s and experiencing it

Star Wars was never the same after that how do you create or recreate cinemas arguably greatest ever moment ??

Hated the the prequel trilogy nothing more than a cgi train wreck at times

Force awakens was nostalgic in its delivery

And that last Jedi thing wow just wow I could see the ghost of old Ben Kenobi rolling his eyes in disbelief

I’m sure rise of skywalker will be Enjoyable but won’t be earth shatteringly conclusive to all of us

Still love Star Wars as it was my childhood and no matter what happens in December they can’t ever take away my empire memories or feelings

But I’m sure plenty have there own empire moments from the different films or cannon media

    Just my thoughts
Don’t post much but felt need to share
Enjoy the ride to December guys

That's a lot of how I felt when I watched TFA and TLJ back to back as well. And it's partially why I wasn't excited for TROS going forward. After the sizzle reel, I'm more excited than I have been these past few months, but I wouldn't consider myself hyped yet. I'd like to get to the point where my feelings are at least at a neutral state and not negative or overly worried.

I agree. Six movies have been about the rise, fall and somewhat rise again of Anakin.. maybe this film will attempt to redeem him further in a big way. Having his force ghost come back to finish off Palpatine would do that. If we just see Vader's suit, a holocron etc and don't get his force ghost.. this movie will feel incomplete to me.

The Chosen One must surely be able to come back, even stronger than the half-physical Yoda ghost in TLJ.

I would like to see a fight in both the physical world and the aether between force spirits, something along those lines would fit GL vision. How this could be achieved is something else, made a duel between Rey and Kylo with the force spirits of Anakin and Palpatine also fighting, with the occasional one gaining the upper hand and aiding the physical fight.

With the PT focused upon Anakin rise and fall in the Jedi, the OT his redemption through Luke's aid, the ST legacy is falling a little flat so far.

    I understand how you feel.

The Force awakens was a decent Star Wars film but TLJ made me want to throw up.

I'm hoping that Rise Of Skywalker has some redeeming qualities and ends the story in an epic way that will impress me.

But I won't be surprised if it doesn't. And by the title alone I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up leaving an opening for possible future installments.
You know , so they can butcher it all to death some more.

Anyway , I would have preferred sequels in book form at this point. Probably would have done better.

The reason I’m not excited is it’s the culmination of the ST and I feel it’s ‘been there done that’ at this point. I don’t know who to blame as JJ, KK and Rian Johnson each deserve their share. JJ started the Trilogy by copying the template of Resistance vs First Order and a Skywalker gone bad. Rian Johnson did nothing to continue anything new (Killing Snoke) along with Rey having no arc and now the Return of Palpatine is just another OT plot point we’ve seen before.

The irony is that many fans problem with the PT is we knew the story before it was told. The ST ended up being a story that was already told.

Disney are to blame more than anyone, they got impatient and rushed everything. Michael Arndt should have been allowed to finish his script/outline for the trilogy and screenplay for TFA.

JJ had just weeks to rewrite/change the script from Michael Ardnt's version, and had to keep the rebels vs empires dynamic there because Disney demanded it. The sets were already built/agreed upon which relied on that as well.

What he was allowed to do was very limited, and he wasn't given the budget he wanted either. It was his decision to bring in Kasdan, and he and Kathleen pushed for practical effects. JJ did very well considering the circumstances, it's a miracle that TFA didn't end up like The Phantom Menace.

Rian Johnson shouldn't have been hired, it was too much responsibility for him (he hadn't even directed for five years) and we got a poor screenplay due to him being rushed.. he had to write it before he even saw The Force Awakens.

For me, Disney is 80% to blame.. KK is 10% to blame and Rian gets the other 10%

I don’t get why Rian gets a 10% and JJ a 0%... It doesn’t follow according to your logic. Also, according to what you claim, KK has very little autonomy so why give her a 10% of the blame? Or was it because she pushed for practical effects? ... although that couldn’t be it because JJ pushed for practical effects and he got a 0%.

The hype machine has got me!

I wasn't excited at all after TLJ. It seemed to stop at a dead end and ep9 was at the time being written and directed by someone I consider to be a talentless hack. I thought the story would play out predictably and like a ROTJ redux, just without someone like the Sidious to provide a threat. These leaks sound crazy though, in a good way, Sidious is one of my favourite characters and many of the choices made seem bold and exciting. I like JJ as a director as well.

I've always wanted a trippy, over the top, crazy Star Wars film with the complete kitchen sink thrown at it. A ROTS style divisive hot mess but with the likeable ST characters. Seems like this one is going to be completely crazy and I'm so up for that! Can't wait till december now which is strange considering how I felt this time last year

Um, how does JJ get a pass but RJ doesn't? something doesn't add up. There's plenty of blood on JJ hands more so than RJ, IMO

I like the way you put it as I can be on board with a ‘we a throwing everything at the kitchen sink’ Episode 9 movie.

I wish I could take everyone back on the internet to the day of AoTC's release.

    Cow tripped over the moon.

    California fell into the ocean.

    The world stopped spinning.

And Sifo Dyas was never mentioned onscreen again.

If only we could all go back in time to listen to people freak out about TESB.

This SAGA has a penchant for divisive second installments.

It survived the first two; so I expect the same for the last one.

Not quite... (he was in The Clone Wars) but I like the rest of your post :)

I think people typically like the ‘departure’(1st) and ‘return’(3rd) parts of stories the best (with lots of exceptions!). The ‘initiation’(2nd) part is necessarily more challenging. That’s the whole point I think. Still doesn’t stop you having favourite initiation sections of trilogies of course, and which ones people prefer will be an individual thing...

I have to wonder if my excitement would be a bit higher if Carrie was still alive and you knew you would be getting an authentic 'mom and son' redemption scene (I realize they could be engineering something with unused footage, but it just would not be the same). Since JJ is into fan service, maybe just maybe there is some way Han could return - no one ever seems to be truly dead in Star Wars anyways.

If it were not for the potential Palpatine angle I would have zero interest.
