    Padme, Leia, Mon Mothma, Rey- all the major woman in Star Wars are brunettes. I am certainly not complaining, but I find this very interesting.

    Good question, I'd like to see a blonde and a redhead someday. The only woman I remember seeing who wasn't brunette was Jocasta Nu and her hair was grey, and what's the name of that elderly woman who tells Anakin to get to shelter because a sandstorm is coming? She had grey hair too.

    i honestly have never even thought about it until i saw this thread and tried to think it through. but then i've got dark hair and grew up in a region where blond is not common, so there was never any reason to wonder.

    The reason why Shmi, Leia, Padme and Rey are all brunette could be because they are all family related in a way (that's if Rey turns out to be Luke's daughter).

    Except only Padme has no relation to Shmi and he more obvious explanation is becaus padne and Anakin are both brunette...it just didn't answer why LUKE isn't a blonde .

    Yeah, cause people who live in deserts commonly have blond hair due to the sun. Seriously, that's not how hair color works.

    But honestly, yeah, this can be attributed to two things, both real world elements:
    1) There aren't a large number of prominent female characters (with hair) in the series.
    2) Darker hair colors (brown to black) are far more common than lighter shades (blond, red).

    Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
    If there are, they are random people running around in the background in Cloud City.
