    We've heard about casting rumors all over the internet and it's all human actors. Where are the aliens? Are humans the main characters again when the galaxy is full of strange aliens?

    And who's to say that all the people cast so far are playing human characters?

    After all, we have the gorgeous Lupita Nyong'o playing a hardly-recognizable dwarf alien who apparently hails from Space Russia. And the multi-talented Andy Serkis playing an alien, because that's just his kind of jam.

    Cast photos are out! Like i said, where are the freaking aliens? I know they maybe from different system worlds, but same species. Where are the mon cala, the rhodians, the twileks, wookies, etc....?

    I can at least tell you that Alan Tudyk will be playing an alien, given that his character is made possible by performance-capture.

    Technically, the only people we know aren't playing aliens are Jones, Ahmed, Luna, Yen, and Wen. That leaves Whitaker, Mikkelsen, and Mendelsohn in potential alien roles. I get the feeling that Mendelsohn is going to play Tarkin, though.

    On the Death Star and in the Rebel base temple of Star Wars there were zero aliens. The only non-human on Yavin IV was Chewie and he wasn't part of the rebellion at the time. In Empire Strikes Back the only alien at Echo Base again, was Chewie (if you don't count the Taun-Tauns which were just beasts of burden)

    If the rebellion is suddenly full of aliens it wouldn't mesh with Star Wars. We have Alan Tudyk playing an alien and we can still hold out hope that the tropical planet we've seen has an indigenous alien species. Personally, I'd like the planet to be Ryloth, homeworld of the Twi'leks since they were enslaved when the Empire rose to power. But I doubt it will be.

    The first time we saw a lot of aliens with the Rebellion was in Episode VI and even then it was just Mon Cals and Sullustans, with an offhand mention of Bothans

    Personally I want more aliens, but there is precedent for no aliens and besides Disney needs to be sure the concept sells before it risks alienating with aliens. Selling producers on nonhuman main characters is not always easy

    If you watch ANH and ESB the rebels really didn't have aliens, it wasn't until Jedi time that they had some and a few at that.

    Obviously the Emperor anti-alien racist policies are still in place in the First Order. This is also likely why we can't have super awesome bad guys like Grand Admiral Thrawn would be.
