i'm gonna go ahead and undermine everyone's opinion of TLJ here and give you some FACTS: Yoda wasn't in the movie. at all.

i did have to get up to go to the bathroom at one point towards the end, but through the rest of the movie i never saw him, heard him speak, or heard him referenced by other characters.

so you're all wrong, unfortunately. Yoda didn't do anything and wasn't in the film; that's that.

now that i've shared the FACTS (not be confused with my opinion) we can all carry on with our lives.

    move along... (stormy 3)

So , let us back to busines about this intriguing thing, the books taken by Rey..

My opinion is that the books ment anything anymore for Luke. That is what Yoda said to Luke actually, and it appears to be the truth.

ČLuke has no anything more to learn from that books.

Jet ,the books will mean something very much important for Rey in the future.

I expect Rey will find some critical clues in those books in the setting for ep. IX.

I think he just needed luke to let go of the past so that he could be at peace and become one with the force.

yeah, i figured that Yoda said what he said to Luke because that's what Luke needed to hear.

Yes of course, that is for Luke's part.

Luke is touching books, and tells Rey"You have seen this place ...."

Are actually some clues important for Rey herself in those books?

Luke is than asking Rey: "Who are you....?"

Also, let us not forget... the books wer actually calling Rey., she followed Luke, than she was called by them,m just like she was called by Skywalkert sword in ep VII.....

I hoped we could develop ,intelectually, more valuable debate about this critical detail

This subject deserves more and I will push it since the power is behind this find.

    "You've seen this place..."

i figured this was in reference to her dreams of an island, which Kylo mentions in TFA while probing her mind.

as to why Rey had dreams about this island, i'm not sure. was it coincidence? was it her seeing the future in some way, as Force sensitive people do sometimes?

the fact that Ahch-To was no where to be found in TFA says to me that Rey couldn't have been there before, so i'm going for, "she saw part of her future in a dream."

I think they'll be important to her, but not in terms who Rey is, but who will Rey be as a Jedi. I mean, Luke barely taught her what the Force is. She knows nothing: how to make/repair a lightsaber, how to meditate... I think I would appreciate those books more if they were actually Luke's - what he wrote during his travels, you know, practical stuff that Rey, even as a beginner can figure out - not just philosophical treatises. Page turners they were not though, per Yoda, they still hold some wisdoms.

Her mother is from the planet with Islands, from planet Lew'el. That's why she dreams islands, and tells that actually touching the book..

In episode VII the Skywalker sword called her from her father's side.

Now the tree called her, containing book ,in which there is record about ancient planet Lew'el. Same planet Luke once visited, after reading in that same book about the "magic" that people from frogotten planet Lew'el preserved for millenia.-original knowledge about the Tide, the Force. There Luke meet a women.A love of his life.

Through one of this books, there is emanation of the island she dreams...memories..connection.

To you there is some poor execution and poor writing an does the op. Yet, there isn't. Just because you didn't like it doesn't make it poor writing. It's because you chose not to enjoy the movie. Which is fine. Don't.

I'm not sure that I can discuss every individual head-canon on this forum in any meaningful way, because I would lose my mind - especially if in two years I have to deal with fans' disappointment - again. If they wanted to make Rey a Skywalker (and which I wanted after TFA) - they would have, in a much simpler and more effective way. Just my 2 cents.

I bet the books will be another unused McGuffin that will never be heard from again beyond TLJ.

They're basically textbooks. They give a quick and easy explanation for an inevitable rise in Rey's Force prowess between Episode VIII and IX.

exactly. as with some maths books, the answers to the odd number questions are actually in the back of the book; you only really have to do like, half of the work.

We all lift ourselves in knowledge the way we best can.

I learned from you term Yoda is prankster, well he actually is.

I present something else, of course it will not attract the people, only rare who can see what I will just post..actually ist for good since they want know what's coming but I can't keep it forever...

This book that Luke is touching is "Yournal of The Whills".
He tells Rey "you have seen this"...".and the Island..."
looking closer, we can see the "wings" of the symbol are actually like a blue water waves , so it is a symbol of the great Tide, which is the Force.
    Yournal of the Whills symbol
    [IMG]

    The book."Legends of Luke Skywalker"

The centerpiece of the book is Story about Lew'el.("Fishing in the Deluge").
There Luke learned about the Tide(Force), and met Force sensitive Aya.

So I think Lew'el , is mentioned in the Journal of the Whills, from there Luke has found about the planet.

so Rey read the Legends of Luke book? weird!

i think Luke said something closer to, "you've seen this place," not, "you've seen these books."

@Aglarion do you happen to know the dialog? i know you're a wizard!

., Luke has found Yournal of the Whills, where he has read about a forgotten planet Lew'el,where people preserved precious ancient knowledge about the Force ( the Tide)..and visited the planet...

There he met Rey's future mother by the will of the Force.. The book connected the two, symbolises it.

Why does he need to spear the fish anyway? Just force grab them and wave them ashore.

Luke does not use the Force anymore like other Force users.

On planet Lew'el he learned that he must not use the Force(Tide) for his cause, because this always corrupts the Force, always...even by the Jedi.

On Lew'el Luke tried to catch big golden marlin fish, by using the Force like a Jedi, and failed after many attempts.

Than Aya teached him to let it go, to not use Force himself, but to trust the Force, than the Force closed fish to the tip of his spear all by itself.

This technique he uses in the TLJ.

Pulling out the fish by Force drag will be corrupting the Force.

Instead Luke uses fine tuned sense of the Tide, and lefts the Tide to decide fish to came on the tip of his spear.

Now for the initiated...we see Rey finds luke catched previously some small fish before she came.(hanging on the string in the village).

Now, in front of Rey, Luke catches big fish...the Tide knows Rey must eat to.....

    its actually perfect...masterpiece.

Are you peope tired of me or do you want for me to interpret this in my way more?
