Why do the Imperial Guard never get any love from the fandom?

    They have iconic red costumes that stand out. Specific weapons. They're suppose to be elite badasses. But you never see EU writers use them or the fandom talk or draw about them like other troopers of the Empire.

    Because writers don´t do much with them. How could we fans love something more that hasn´t been revealed to us as interesting or important.

    I like them. I would love to know more about them. They could have interesting lore. But its up to the writers to do something with them that makes it worth all the effort...

    True but it's been thirty years since we first saw them. Nothing really from writers for over three decades. Plus this is Star Wars we're talking about. Where the most insignificant guy in Jabba's place can get a ten page backstory.

    @LarsSkywalker sometimes we should digg a little bit before we state something, The Imperial Guard is present in EVERY single SW story on the Imperial Age and even moved to the Legacy Era.

    True, but I dont count them in. At least not directly. Those Legends Stories are a bit obscure for others maybe. But I hope to see them re-integrated into the new Canon once more and plenty this time around again.

    What I am trying to say is; the more the better. Nothing wrong about that.

    I've always loved the Royal Guard. The helmets, the robes, the force pikes, they just are so cool!
    And they've gotten love. As mentioned before, there's the Crimson Empire comics. Also, they had two separate LEGO Battle Packs dedicated to them, one with their Shadow Guard brothers!
    Also, I've seen plenty of fan art and cosplay of them. Yeah, there are more Stormtroopers, but they are more prominent in the films and there are more of them in-universe.

    I just want to see them actually do what they are described of doing in a film. Im reading Lords of the Sith and for all i know is that they are the elite and only honor the emperor. There is a part where Vader tells them to do something and they just look at the Emperor. To me that makes it seems like a fight between Vader and them would be a good match.

    The Imperial guard are supposed to be like hand picked bodyguards to the emperor.

    And it's unfortunate that the only depiction in the films so far has them either standing around not doing much in ROTJ, or being hopelessly outclassed by a Jedi master in ROTS. I'd like to see them show off the reasons why they have their place as royal guards, and not just twiddling their thumbs in the corner of a room.

    yeah I know huh. I hope in R1 something happens that may endanger the emperor to where they will fight. they are like the secret service. stand around. I can see them doing damage in R1 though.
